Chapter 7: Yin City
In stark contrast to the sunny, pleasant atmosphere of Yin-Yang City, where the air is fresh and filled with vibrant plants, Yin City is shrouded in darkness, oppression, and an overwhelming sense of chaos.
The Teleportation Array is located in a square nearly ten thousand meters wide, where the ground and air are filled with Spirits. These Spirits take on various forms, including humanoid shapes, beasts, and even grotesque figures, such as a swirling mass resembling a dark cloud.
The expansive square resembles a vast plain, bustling with combatants. Surrounding Spirits either cheer enthusiastically for the spectacle or move about indifferently, lost in their own thoughts.
The scene is quite chaotic.
Before having the chance to examine the distant buildings, a Ghost Soldier stationed by the Teleportation Array harshly demands identification.
This is the reason why Lian Yun has yet to release the thirty-one Demon Mothers.

These are the attributes that Lian Yun has assigned to Yan after gaining a detailed understanding of Yin City. It reflects a newcomer from Yin-Yang City who has completed a few tasks in the novice village and earned some Spirit Coins before hastily arriving here.
It seemed like a newcomer who had come to Yin City with a singular purpose.
Chen Er Gou did not have an independent identity; the Ghost Soldiers could see that Chen Er Gou was bound by the Soul of the Swallow, and thus they deemed him a contract slave of Yan. This was indeed the case, so there was no room for doubt.
"Ah, a newcomer? Initial Monarch level." Upon seeing Lian Yun's nearly blank identity, the expressions of the two guards softened slightly. They glanced at Chen Er Gou and then allowed Lian Yun to pass.
However, just as Lian Yun stepped out of the Teleportation Array, one of the Ghost Soldiers reminded him, "You came from Yin-Yang City, so you might not know the rules of Yin City. Spirit Coins are useless here; only Soul Currency is accepted. If you want to learn more about Yin City, you can inquire at the Soul Abyss or purchase information at Yama Palace."
"Thank you for the information, brother. May I ask where Yama Palace is located?"
"With your Spirit Coins, you only have forty High-Grade Soul Currency. You should first go to the Mission Office and complete some tasks!"
Having given enough hints, the two Ghost Soldiers no longer paid attention to Lian Yun and returned to their posts, their expressions serious as they stared at the Teleportation Array. Except for those from Yin Yang City and the Three Major Troops, almost all ghosts arriving were required to reveal their identities.
Additionally, if a human were to arrive, they would need to present a special pass. Judging by the fierce demeanor of the Ghost Soldiers, it seemed that anyone without a pass would be immediately exterminated.
Lian Yun was aware of these circumstances. He also knew that those who possessed passes generally fell into two categories: merchants or Human Slaves—slaves of certain Spirits in Yin City who traveled to Yin-Yang City for trade with humans.
Overall, within a radius of ten thousand meters in this vast square, there were only about a thousand humans present. The number of Spirits was in the millions.
This was merely Central Square.
The entire Yin City spanned hundreds of miles, with an unknown number of Spirits—perhaps billions—residing within it. However, Yin City was just one city divided into a central area and Nine Major Regions; there were no fortresses outside its walls, essentially representing a gathering place for all Spirits.
Yet beneath Yin City lay underground structures that provided ample living space; it was just that the prices were relatively high.
Listening carefully to the surroundings, the howling of ghosts and wolves filled the air, a cacophony of despair. Lian Yun quickly discerned the direction of Yama Palace and, following the Evil Tide, made his way toward it. He did not enter but instead stood outside a magnificent palace that soared eighty stories high, listening intently to the sounds around him to gather information.
Although Lian Yun had learned some basic details about Yin City, the information was limited. This was due to a strict regulation in Yin City: regardless of whether one belonged to the human race or the Demon Clan, whether free or enslaved, no one was allowed to disclose the secrets of Yin City to outsiders if they wished to travel to Yin-Yang City.
A contract had to be signed as proof; otherwise, even a Peerless Monarch or the Peerless Ghost Emperor would find it impossible to leave Yin City.
Despite Lian Yun's calm demeanor, the overwhelming chaos around him soon began to fray his nerves. The rampant fighting in the square was primarily caused by many Spirits losing their sanity under this chaotic influence; only through slaughter could they find some semblance of peace.
Frowning slightly, Lian Yun chose not to endure the discomfort any longer and headed toward the Mission Office.
Surrounding the square were mainly city buildings, all uniformly towering eighty stories high, with differences only in the inscriptions on their signs.
On the first floor of the Mission Office, half of the area was dedicated to private missions posted by Spirits, while the other half contained ongoing or persistent missions, along with various tasks that did not have level restrictions.
The second through eightieth floors housed missions ranging from level one to seventy-nine.
Yin City also offered main storyline missions, which typically involved delivering messages or materials. The primary purpose was to familiarize individuals with some basic information about Yin City, such as locating certain buildings and how to purchase property. Additionally, upon accepting a main storyline mission, one would receive a Novice Protection Shield.
The Protection Shield had a time limit; for instance, after seven hours on a main storyline mission, it would disappear. However, upon completion of the mission, another Protection Shield would be granted.
Many Spirits took advantage of this feature to venture into areas they normally could not access due to their own levels, thereby uncovering more hidden information about Yin City.
Moreover, when necessary, this novice protection light could be used to safeguard one's life. It served as an alternative means of protection against violence permitted within the city!
Many Ghost Slaves had only completed a few main quests.
However, Lian Yun did not think too much about it. Instead, he spent three days running through every street and alley of Yin City, completing all forty main quests.
By this point, Lian Yun had gained a basic understanding of Yin City and a clear awareness of the forces within the city. However, the actual situation was beyond Lian Yun's comprehension.
First, the Huaxia Ghost Clan was no longer the most powerful force in Yin City. The strongest was that faction with a civilization spanning thousands of years and possessing pyramids.
The current Demon Realm on Earth was home to these two civilizations, ruled by two figures known as Pharaohs and one referred to as the Demon Empress, collectively known as the Three Ghost Emperors.
As a result, their influence occupied four major regions, accounting for nearly half of the city. The Spirits seen on the streets wielding staffs or resembling Huaxia Zombies in the form of mummies were formal members of their faction.
Although their individual strength was formidable, their numbers were limited, possibly due to a history of slave rule that enslaved countless Spirits from other regions.
Additionally, Ancient Babylon occupied one region while Huaxia controlled two.
The remaining two regions were a mix of various factions from around the world. In one of these areas, the strongest individual was known as the Count of Monte Cristo. Legends spoke of him as a vampire, but the current Count of Monte Cristo possessed the ability to consume Soul Power at its source.
