Chapter 71: Discussion
Although they had never been apart, for Ling Er, her mother's embrace was the first reunion she had ever experienced. Even though Lin Nan had left, the others did not disturb them and quietly withdrew.
Lian Yun took Le Yan directly to the courtyard that once belonged to his mother, which was now considered his own.
As they entered, they saw the Twelve Fierce Warriors lined up neatly. Understanding their thoughts, Lian Yun said, "After my grandmother's Birthday Banquet, I will take you to find the Overlord."
The Twelve Fierce Warriors knelt on one knee in silence, with no words spoken.
In their hearts, they already had loyal individuals, yet they felt they could not repay Lian Yun's kindness. Thus, they bowed but dared not make any promises.
This was because if the Overlord were to be forceful and seek unification, there would inevitably come a time when they would find themselves at odds with Lian Yun.
Lian Yun accepted this calmly; he knew that if he did not accept their loyalty, the Twelve Fierce Warriors would feel even more guilty.
Next came a period of quiet sitting. Lian Yun shared some of his experiences in Yin Yang City with Le Yan, particularly introducing Xiao Jun, Meng Yixuan, Lan Ruoxuan, Qian Duoduo, and the Insect Emperor.
These individuals were his benefactors and friends in Yin Yang City—those he cared about most.
Le Yan listened quietly and attentively, her expression remaining unchanged. She neither felt joy at Lian Yun's successes nor trembled with fear at his dangers.
She seemed somewhat indifferent; however, the gaze she directed at Lian Yun was filled with deep affection.
Perhaps she wanted Lian Yun to know that whenever he ventured out, he need not worry about her feelings. No matter what happened, "I will quietly wait for your return."
As emotions ran deep and uncontrollable, Lian Yun embraced Le Yan once more, unwilling to let go for a long time.
It wasn't long before Grandma sent someone to invite Le Yan to her courtyard, so Lian Yun did not follow and instead headed to the Underground Training Arena.
Lin's Three Uncles, Lin Feiyu, and four others surrounded Lin Xiaoyao, making a total of seven people attacking him.
The large training ground was in chaos, but when Lian Yun arrived, everything fell eerily silent in his wake.
As Lian Yun reached the center, Lin's Three Uncles and the five others halted, forming a circle around him. Lin Dong spoke first, his expression serious: "Yun'er, do you wish for us to go to Yin Yang City?"
Lian Yun waved his hand and released a swallow. The swallow nodded at Lin Dong and said, "I don't know what kind of Earth Formation the Peerless Demon Master has set up, but since it took him a hundred years to arrange this grand formation, it must be extraordinary. The only place that could rival it is Yin Yang City."
"I intend to suggest that you all go, but there are pros and cons to consider. Ultimately, it depends on your willingness. In Yin Yang City, I have two avatars whose strength is comparable to the Peerless Monarch. They can seek protection from Major Powers for you or help you establish a new Major Power."
"I have already prepared resources and manpower. I have established the Cloud Realm with five hundred fifty-five people. Though not many, their strength is decent and they are loyal."
"I've heard that the Xi Men Family has influence in Yin Yang City and even has a Peerless Monarch?" Lin Feiyu said with a somewhat serious expression.
Lian Yun glanced at Lin Xiaoyao in surprise. The latter shrugged innocently, indicating he had no idea.
It turned out that Lin Xiaoyao had intentions of hunting down Ximen Qianlie when he went to Yin Yang City, truly aiming to eradicate the Xi Men Family.
Lian Yun nodded but smiled slightly as he said, "Senior Xi Men Xiangyang is indeed a Heroic Leader. If I wanted to kill Ximen Qianlie, he would likely step aside willingly. Besides, I have a connection with one of his granddaughters..."
"In any case, the Xi Men Family in Yin Yang City will not be my enemy."
A hint of gossip flickered across the faces of the men present. Seeing that Lian Yun was unwilling to elaborate further, they turned their attention to Lin Xiaoyao. He merely shrugged again with an expression that seemed to invite trouble.
Lin Dong nodded and said, "In that case, Feather, you can go ahead, but we still need to think it over."
After all, while Yin Yang City offered extraordinary opportunities, Lin's Three Uncles were getting older, and their room for improvement was relatively limited. They were also concerned about the safety of the entire Huaxia nation. They couldn't truly isolate themselves from the world, yet they hoped for a fallback for their family.
After chatting for a while, Lian Yun suddenly asked, "Have there been any unusual changes in the Alliance over the past three years?"
Lin Dong shook his head and replied, "It's been quite peaceful; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it's calm. However, the atmosphere in Huaxia seems to be one of superficial harmony with underlying tensions—like the calm before a storm!"
In other words, everyone was preparing in their own way while maintaining a flexible attitude.
Soon after, the three elders took their leave first, either to continue preparing for the Birthday Banquet or to welcome early guests. Lian Yun then caught up with Lin Feiyu and the others to reminisce.
To be honest, Lin Feiyu and the others felt a deep sense of nostalgia. More than three years ago, Lian Yun still needed their protection, but now he had reached a level that left them in awe.
Truthfully, they all yearned for Yin Yang City.
However, they had already established families and careers; they couldn't make decisions like Lin Nan, who was single and could leave without a second thought.
For his cousins, Lian Yun still felt the same admiration for Lin Feiyu as if he were both a brother and a father.
Before long, it was peak time for guests to arrive. As the eldest grandson, Lin Feiyu naturally had to uphold proper etiquette. He soon returned to ask Lin Wuji and the others to help out, leaving only Lian Yun and Lin Xiaoyao in the Underground Training Room.
Lian Yun smiled and said, "Xiaoyao Ge, haven't you gone to see your grandfather?"
"I wanted to, but Grandma wouldn't let me," Lin Xiaoyao replied with open hands, looking innocent and showing none of the seriousness expected of a Peerless Expert.
However, Lian Yun did not mind and smiled lightly, saying, "It should be soon."
The Purple Qi within Lian Yun's Yin-Yang Stage was immense, as it was abundant in the outside world and not exclusive to Yin Yang City. Therefore, Lian Yun was not worried about facing any punishment from Yin Yang City.
Afterward, Lian Yun returned to his courtyard to wait for others.
Although he had relaxed his mindset, he still did not wish to meet the Alliance High Command, so he did not enter the Birthday Banquet venue early.
Back in the courtyard, he awaited the arrival of Zhou Tong, Murong Ying, and Jiang Ao. It had been three years since they last met, and he wondered how much their influence had grown and whether they could handle the impending changes.
However, to Lian Yun's surprise, he did not see the three of them. Yet, he was not overly concerned and instead waited outside Grandma's courtyard.
When Grandma emerged with Le Yan, who looked like a blossoming girl of fifteen or sixteen, Lian Yun entered alone and set up several formations over the lotus pond.
These formations were ones that Lian Yun had specifically consulted Ghost Daozi about. They were not particularly advanced formations; rather, they were designed for isolation, illusion, and concealment.
Initially, Lian Yun thought that if Grandma was willing to go to Yin Yang City, he would use these three formations to protect his grandfather. If Grandma did not go to Yin Yang City, having these formations would allow her to move around more freely.
