To be honest, Annalise's request nearly drove Yan to madness. Yet, deep down, he felt a surge of excitement.
His experiences could be described as persecution by the Three Ghost Emperors, and now being able to defy the will of a Demon Emperor gave Yan a sense of vengeful satisfaction.
However, he couldn't show this feeling. Instead, he darkened his expression and asked, "May I ask if Prince Faisal wishes for Princess Anarili to come with you?"
"I was the one who eloped with my brother; I was just captured by the Empress," she replied.
"Eloped!" Yan nodded in understanding.
In the context of thousands or even tens of thousands of years ago, close kinship was not an unusual matter. In tribal times, when a tribe had a small population, intermarriage was often necessary to ensure the continuation and growth of the tribe.
For instance, many figures in European mythology are closely related.
Understanding this, Lian Yun chose not to dwell on it and instead asked, "So how did the princess and the prince leave the palace back then?"
"Hmm... Are you really planning to agree to my conditions?" Annalise asked with curiosity and surprise.
Lian Yun nodded and looked at Dong Xin. "I promised him that if I encountered you, I would do everything in my power to take you to see him. Annalise looked at Yan and said, "Take my token; you can search for all the slaves under every noble's name and all the slaves within this palace."
"I cannot guarantee that I will be able to bring you to Yin Yang City, Princess. Also, how did you and the prince leave the palace back then?"
"I don't know; my brother took me away."
"Alright, I will do my best, but it will take time."
"That's fine! But the sooner, the better."
Although Spirit had an infinite lifespan, for loved ones, a day apart felt like three autumns. Naturally, Annalise would be anxious.
Yan nodded and took Dong Xin away.
Upon returning to the palace, all the nobles looked at Yan with expressions of betrayal. Even Abed directly said, "Don't involve me in anything related to you and the princess."
They probably guessed what Annalise would request, so continuing to associate with Yan at this moment would mean offending the Demon Empress.
Since Dong Xin held the token of Princess Anarili, it signified that Yan had agreed to trade with the princess.
Yan understood this. He had never held any fondness for the other nobles and didn't care about their opinions. However, he felt a bit grateful towards Abed, as he had warned him previously for his own good.
Thus, Yan asked, "May I ask, Mr. Abed, what price would I need to pay if I wanted to sever ties with the Abed Family?"
Abed was momentarily taken aback before shaking his head with a bitter smile.
To be fair, he genuinely wanted to be friends with Yan at this moment; however, in reality, not becoming enemies was already a good outcome—how could they possibly become friends?
With a sigh, Abed said, "We will report to the Demon Empress. If you can survive in the future, then we shall see."
In the end, Abed quoted a figure that was nearly all of Yan's current wealth. He had little hope that Yan could bring back riches from Yin Yang City. Even if he could manage it, he doubted he would dare accept it. Therefore, he settled on taking all of Yan's current wealth.
He indeed needed to increase his wealth to enhance his chances of becoming the Half Emperor.
In response, Yan simply nodded and said, "Alright, I hereby announce that the Yan family is severing ties with the Abed Family. In the name of Princess Anarili, I request all nobles present to show me all the Ghost Slaves under your names."
"Come quickly and leave; no lingering allowed."
Upon hearing this, many nobles quickly departed. They likely viewed Lian Yun as a harbinger of misfortune, yet out of fear of offending the princess, they hurried home to prepare, allowing Lian Yun to see all their family’s slaves as soon as possible so he could leave them behind.
Even Abed, who was among the last to leave, did so in haste.
Meanwhile, Yan swiftly described the appearances of two individuals to Dong Xin and asked, "Do you have any impression of them?"
In Lian Yun's view, since Dong Xin was Annalise's attendant, she should have seen most of the slaves in the palace, including those close to the Demon Empress.
This might be even more effective than Annalise's gemstones.
However, after pondering for a moment, Dong Xin shook her head and said, "The Demon Empress dotes on the princess greatly. I have seen everyone in the palace, and I can assure you that neither of those two people is among them."
Though somewhat disappointed, Lian Yun felt an inexplicable sense of relief.
He genuinely worried that his parents might be attendants by the Demon Empress's side. If that were the case, Lian Yun would have to suspect that the Demon Empress had deliberately kept his parents close, waiting for him to come to her willingly.
However, it seemed that while the Three Great Emperors of the Demon Realm had plotted against him, they were primarily focused on his abilities and had not paid attention to his parents.
Since they were not in the palace, Lian Yun took Dong Xin and quickly left. They proceeded to check each High Noble one by one for their slaves, with Dong Xin assisting in the search.
Since it was clear that the Demon Emperor did not care about his parents, Lian Yun felt less apprehensive. Whenever she couldn't find her parents, she would describe their appearances to the nobles, hoping to receive some information from them.
However, the High Nobles had already regarded Yan as a plague. Since none of them were searching for Yan in their households, they were naturally reluctant to engage in conversation with her. Many simply answered without a second thought, "I don't know."
Abed pondered for a moment before shaking his head. He then reminded Lian Yun that these High Nobles also dared not offend the princess, so they would collectively report to the Demon Empress after three days, advising Yan to act according to the situation.
Lian Yun naturally bowed in gratitude but wore a serious expression.
The complete lack of information about her parents under the Demon Empress made Lian Yun consider the situation regarding all the slaves under the other two Demon Emperors. However, the time available to Lian Yun might not be as ample as three days.
Just as she was observing all the nobles' Ghost Slaves and feeling somewhat powerless, Dong Xin suddenly tugged at Lian Yun and appeared timid, as if he had made a mistake.
"What is it?" Lian Yun asked, feeling puzzled.
"Perhaps the two you are looking for are inside the palace," Dong Xin whispered weakly.
But Lian Yun was confused. Hadn't she previously been certain that she had never seen her parents within the palace? She had no doubt about this because even if Dong Xin lacked gratitude, there was no reason for him to deceive her.
