"Mr. Ye, Miss, the master has asked me to take you there." A bodyguard in black suddenly approached after Ye Kai and his companion got out of the taxi, speaking respectfully.
Ye Kai, who had already noticed the bodyguard's arrival, nodded without surprise and followed him toward the Villa Estate.
As he listened to the woman beside him chattering away about her family's situation while linking her arm with his, he couldn't help but admire her again. The soft sensation against his arm was truly delightful.
He had heard quite a bit along the way, but upon seeing the Villa Estate, he felt a sense of astonishment. The estate spanned an entire mountain, extending over a hundred meters down to its foot—this was all her family's territory.
According to Silly Girl's father, Kong Kun, he was one of the directors of Destiny Company, a firm on par with Umbrella, yet it had never gained much fame.
The Kong Family was one of the four prominent families that together controlled the entire defense industry of Huaxia.
However, behind the scenes, they were the helm of a powerful economic empire, possessing wealth far beyond Ye Kai's imagination. The servants in their household referred to him as "the master."
Thus, Ye Kai understood that this was Kong Kun wanting to meet him, perhaps with other intentions in mind.
At the very least, this master had likely learned about him through special channels; whether he could find any information on him was something worth pondering.
The bodyguard led the way ahead, occasionally glancing back at Ye Kai with a puzzled expression. As a bodyguard for the Kong Family, he had encountered many significant figures from both political and business circles, including some mid-level executives from Umbrella Corporation.
Yet, it baffled him that the master would specifically want to meet such an inconsequential person—someone who had merely 'coincidentally' appeared and 'saved' his sister.
Though he was deeply skeptical about why this individual appeared so 'coincidentally,' the master's instruction to treat him with respect left him utterly perplexed.
Ye Kai smiled lightly; he certainly knew why this hidden figure from Huaxia wanted to see him.
It was nothing more than wanting to cover his own tracks. After all, he was a black household, and even if they searched the entire globe, they would find no clues related to him. Perhaps those intelligence agents were still scratching their heads over it!
"Ah!"
Suddenly, Kong Xiaoxiao rushed into a grand hall and embraced a middle-aged woman who appeared quite elegant and dignified. Moments later, the sound of cheerful laughter echoed from within.
As for Ye Kai, he leisurely followed the bodyguards in black, even taking the time to glance around at the place, which was several times larger than his Ye Family estate.
His purpose for being here and his performance had come remarkably close to perfection. If it weren't for the fact that he had lived in the Ye Family for a while, he might have felt intimidated by the sheer size of this sprawling estate.
Now, it all depended on whether his little effort could persuade this lady to send him to America.
Following the black-clad bodyguards as they turned left and right, they finally stopped in front of a massive door.
"The master is waiting for you inside," one of the bodyguards said.
Ye Kai nodded and stepped forward with a light stride, pushing the door open.
The room inside resembled a library, meticulously designed and filled with a faint scent of sandalwood wafting through the air.
At that moment, a tall man with impeccably styled hair stood with his back to him in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window. The setting sun cast a warm glow, making him appear imposing and majestic.
Although Ye Kai had no expertise in psychology, he was not unfamiliar with such atmospheric techniques. In fact, he felt completely at ease as he strolled over to the enormous mahogany table and casually took a seat, as if he had returned home.
“Hmm!”
Kong Kun still maintained his gaze on the setting sun, lightly sighing, “What a clever person, but I wonder what my brother is after! Do those old fools really think they can pressure me with such trivial tactics?”
Watching Kong Kun slowly turn around, Ye Kai was left speechless.
He really wanted to grab the cigar box on the table and smash it to the ground, shouting, “You invisible old man really shouldn’t be lamenting. What ‘clever person’ are you talking about? Stop rambling! Just continue being a quiet old man… I’m not even from this world, ahhh!”
Kong Kun, oh no, he was nearly fifty, with a square face. Thanks to good maintenance, he looked like he was in his forties. Even at home, he exuded an air of authority. Moreover, having held power for so long added an almost imperceptible pressure to him, a result of his identity and status.
However, this pressure had little effect on Ye Kai.
“Mr. Kong, let’s speak openly.”
After greeting him naturally, Ye Kai continued directly, “I believe you’ve already checked my identity and found nothing. I have no explanation for that. However, I did save your daughter; that is a fact.”
Kong Kun seemed either constrained by his own status or genuinely acknowledged Ye Kai’s words as he lightly nodded. He slowly settled back into his large armchair, staring at Ye Kai without moving.
“Well then, since that’s the case, I have a rather reasonable proposal. I wonder if Mr. Kong would be interested in hearing it.”
Ye Kai flicked his left sleeve with his right hand and glanced at the noncommittal Kong Kun with a half-smile before suddenly sitting up straight. “I want to go to America, to Raccoon City. I wonder if Mr. Kong has any means to help me!”
“Why should I send you there?” Kong Kun’s expression didn’t change in the slightest as he gently picked up a cigar, slowly clipped it, lit it up, and exhaled a puff of smoke. “What qualifications do you have for me to send you?”
Sigh!
Being around these wealthy people is always a hassle, no matter what you do, it’s just a complete headache!
“Mr. Kong, just tell me what you need me to do.” Ye Kai didn’t waste any time; the clock was ticking. Who knew if he would even be able to enter the Hive beneath the Mansion by the time he arrived in Raccoon City.
This situation felt just like every time he returned to the Ye Family Old Residence. A casual expression or a single word could plunge that group into endless speculation, leading to repeated probing.
It was truly an unpleasant feeling!
Even though this person knew that he had indeed saved his daughter, he would never easily trust him.
In their minds, thoughts like “What if this person is sent by our enemies?” or “Is it just a coincidence that he saved my daughter?” and “What seems like a fortunate accident might actually be a trap!” would swirl around.
In short, they were a bunch of folks with a persecution complex.
Every moment was spent calculating and scheming; even a smile or a gesture could spark different thoughts in their minds.
Kong Kun smiled.
Although he still couldn’t understand why, despite deploying significant manpower and resources, he hadn’t been able to uncover any information about this guy, the initiative had returned to him!
No matter who it was, as long as they had desires, they had weaknesses. And as long as there were weaknesses, they could be controlled and ‘used’ without worry.
Taking another puff of smoke, Kong Kun's eyes glimmered with a strange light. "I’m very curious to know how you managed to fend off those thugs' daggers."
Ye Kai frowned slightly but soon smiled in return.
This guy's skills were indeed impressive; not only had he quickly positioned himself in a superior stance, but he also completely overlooked the fact that Ye Kai had once saved his daughter.
At this moment, he was instead contemplating the Energy Shield.
But it made sense; after all, his own strength was inferior. If he had control over a Type Aircraft or that kind of Type Spaceship, there would be no need for such idle chatter.
"Mr. Kong, since you're so curious, I can't just leave you hanging."
Ye Kai gazed deeply at Kong Kun, stood up, and picked up a lighter. He flicked it open and gently ignited it, setting his own fingertip ablaze while laughing. "It’s nothing much; just some Ability."
Kong Kun was taken aback. He had seen some formidable individuals before, but this was the first time he had truly witnessed someone daring enough to burn themselves with fire.
Watching the man before him maintain an unchanging expression as he continued to burn himself without flinching filled Kong Kun with both shock and exhilaration. He had finally found someone suitable for the task.
However, specifics still needed to be tested further.
