Thinking of this, he couldn't help but recall Kong Xiaoxiao once again.
He had already marked her with the divine locator on the way home, using her to get closer to Kong Kun's laptop. In an instant, he had allowed the divine presence to replicate itself.
What he hadn't expected was that through this, he discovered something truly remarkable: mechanical modifications and human augmentation!
Although he felt a bit guilty towards that confused woman, Ye Kai was also helpless. After all, he was in a disadvantaged position. If it weren't for the divine presence, he would have long changed sides and become a complete lackey for Kong Kun.
Not everyone could resist the allure of endless wealth and beauty.
Facing Yu Jun, a guy who couldn't even produce a decent response, was really boring and frustrating. In the end, Ye Kai became so bored that he fell asleep.
At 1 PM on June 1st, the plane finally arrived in Raccoon City.
"Yu Ge, look, we've arrived in Raccoon City. You should finally tell me what you want me to do," Ye Kai said casually as he patted Yu Jun's shoulder.
Yu Jun frowned, looking at the hand on his shoulder, and said solemnly, "Boss, we need to go to the Mansion to find a man named Spencer. We'll take a temperature-controlled briefcase from him and then leave—straight back home."
"Spencer!!!" Ye Kai finally sighed inwardly; he had known it would be like this.
When he watched the movie before, he had wondered who was offering to buy the virus on the black market. Now everything finally made sense.
Although many people disliked Spencer's character, considering him despicable and evil—the very source of all troubles in the Biochemical Crisis—Ye Kai actually wanted to express that he didn't like him either.
However, if one looked closely at the details, they would notice things like the note he wrote after rolling in bed with Alice.
Though motivated by money, ultimately, like Alice, Matt, and his sister, it was all about exposing or destroying Umbrella Corporation.
Spencer had gone too far. It was because of him, with just a casual toss, that he not only aimed to destroy the Umbrella Corporation but also pushed the world into an endless abyss.
For this reason, Ye Kai expressed that, despite not particularly liking the man, he still held a certain admiration for him.
As a security guard employed by the Umbrella Corporation, Spencer might not have seen the virus experiment reports and data, but he should at least understand the immense impact a super virus could have on the real world.
Yet this guy actually broke open a vial of the virus just to bring down the Umbrella Corporation. He was nothing short of a 'genius' or perhaps a harbinger of doom!
Unfortunately, he lacked the protagonist's halo; otherwise, the Biochemical world might have turned out quite differently.
"What's wrong? Do you know this person?"
Yu Jun's eyes sparkled with interest. Since their first meeting, he had found it hard to read Ye Kai. The man seemed carefree and even appeared greedy and lecherous, yet there was an elusive quality about him.
It was an indescribable feeling, like an instinct on the battlefield. Suddenly, Yu Jun felt a surge of curiosity about what Ye Kai was really doing in Raccoon City.
Ye Kai slightly squinted his eyes and wore a broad smile. "How could that be? I'm here looking for a job. A friend of mine used to work here at the Umbrella Corporation, so I'm here to seek him out."
Yu Jun frowned. Although he understood this excuse, he had no intention of calling him out on it. He glanced around and walked straight toward a black stretch limousine. "Then let's hurry up; we don't have much time. We need to reach the Mansion before 6 PM."
Raccoon City was a typical high-tech city in America's Midwest, but when Ye Kai actually saw it, his expression changed dramatically.
"This is Raccoon City? I thought there were only about 100,000 people here! Why does this city seem so much larger than I expected?!"
"Did your friend tell you that?"
Sitting in the car, Yu Jun frowned as he glanced at Ye Kai, who was talking to himself. Although he didn't press further, he had grown increasingly wary of this enigmatic man. "The resident population here is actually over 300,000, and there are many outsiders as well. This city has around 400,000 people!"
Where exactly was Ye Kai from?
Why did he seem so clueless about even the most basic things?
Raccoon City only has a hundred thousand people? How is that possible? Even if it’s not a super metropolis, it’s still one of the more important cities under the Umbrella Corporation. There’s no way it could have just a mere hundred thousand residents!
The entire city is divided into several areas, including residential zones, commercial districts, and a high-tech health area, with the suburbs located to the north and east of the city center.
The economy is largely dominated by the Umbrella Corporation. The company generously funds various city projects to create a positive image in the hearts of Raccoon City’s citizens.
A significant percentage of the population is employed by this international corporation, meaning that the entire city, including the mayor, is essentially serving Umbrella Corporation.
At the foothills to the northeast of Raccoon City, there stands a beautifully constructed mansion. Especially in the evening, under the sunset, the mansion appears to be painted in a warm red hue.
However, what is happening beneath the mansion in the Hive sends chills down one’s spine…
After an initial shock and some hesitation, Ye Kai ultimately chose to follow Yu Jun instead of breaking away to head to the mansion alone. The two casually grabbed some burgers and pizza before slowly making their way toward the mansion.
After all, movies are movies, and reality is reality. Who would have thought there would be such a significant difference—at least three or four times greater!
If a virus were to break out on a large scale, the danger here would likely multiply!
“Although I don’t necessarily have to infiltrate the Hive, given that it’s quite dangerous inside—there are probably no fewer than fifty Lickers!”
“However, as an important laboratory, the Hive should be equipped with advanced Clone cultivation tanks and technical data. There might even be some unexpected treasures.”
Ye Kai stroked his chin as he fell into thought. It seemed that his mission objectives were about to expand!
He had anticipated this situation before arriving. He patted his laptop on his back; this device had been modified by a deity specifically for breaching Flame Empress's defense system.
After all, he had a ten-meter limit; otherwise, a mere Flame Empress—even with her basic AI intelligence—would be futile against divine consumption.
“At that time, all I need is to obtain a sample of the virus and its antidote. If Yu Jun agrees, I might as well lend him a hand. But if he has any ill intentions… well, then it would be unfortunate for him!” Ye Kai thought silently about his future plans while following Yu Jun toward the mansion.
However, he didn’t notice that Yu Jun was listening to Kong Kun’s voice through his headphones, and there was a glint of cold murderous intent in his eyes.
The forest was clean, devoid of thorns and bushes. Although the path was not particularly easy to traverse, it posed no difficulty for two individuals whose physical abilities far exceeded those of ordinary people.
Suddenly, Ye Kai saw Yu Jun ahead make a 'stop' gesture.
"What's wrong?"
He was genuinely anxious. Although he noticed that there were no major disturbances in Raccoon City, he couldn't be sure whether Alice had already been captured by William and his group.
"Someone's coming. Stay alert!"
Yu Jun seemed to have lost all vitality, quietly hiding behind a large tree. He whispered, "The situation has changed. There will likely be a fight soon. Keep your head down; I don't want this mission to fail because I had to save you."
Ye Kai pouted. Although he knew that in terms of real strength, he was not as capable as Yu Jun, if it came down to a life-or-death struggle, he was confident he would prevail.
At that moment, just as he was about to speak, he suddenly stopped and slowly crawled to the ground, quietly observing the Mansion.
Suddenly, he was left dumbfounded as the outdoor lights of the Mansion abruptly illuminated all at once.
Wasn't this the iconic scene from the beginning of the movie when the protagonist Alice was about to emerge?
