“Lord God, a large number of individuals armed with threatening weapons have gathered. The specific number is 197.”
Upon hearing this news, Ye Kai felt a wave of displeasure wash over him. It was as if he had finally settled down to enjoy a particularly melodramatic soap opera, popcorn in hand, only to be interrupted by such an announcement. Who could handle that?
“Damn it, God, next time give me a Notice or something! I almost choked!”
“Understood, Lord God.”
“What I mean is, you should…”
After thinking for a moment, he realized there really wasn’t any other way to give a heads-up. Feeling slightly embarrassed, Ye Kai scratched the back of his head and said, “Forget it, forget it. I’ll let you off this time.”
In the blink of an eye, he forgot about the earlier annoyance. Ye Dasha sat on the ferry, watching the dock draw closer along with Baldy Pingji Stan standing at the edge. Suddenly amused, he thought to himself, “Good thing those people are still quite far away; otherwise, with Pinky Stan being such a quintessentially British weakling… tsk tsk…”
With Loli Kashi cheerfully following Nick off the boat and playfully joking around from time to time, their intimate camaraderie drew quite a bit of attention from onlookers.
After all, one was a handsome young man and the other a cute girl; their playful banter accompanied by bright laughter painted a delightful picture for everyone watching!
However, when Ye Kai got a closer look at Ping Ji, his eyes lit up once again.
Ignoring Loli’s eye roll, he stretched lazily and stood nearby listening to the conversation between Ping Ji and Kira. He noticed Ping Ji raise his right hand and say ‘bakinheday’ while also showing off his severed finger.
Tsk tsk, that vibe was so reminiscent of the martial world!
Unfortunately, combined with his beard, there was something subtly ambiguous about him that made it hard to pin down whether he was more dominant or submissive!!!
Nevertheless, Ye Kai decided he didn’t want to wait any longer. After all, bringing him under his wing sooner would only make his own power grow stronger!
Anyway, this guy was definitely not getting away.
"Pinky Stan!"
As soon as Ye Kai spoke, almost everyone immediately stopped and turned to look at him in confusion.
However, just two or three seconds later, everyone suddenly realized and turned their heads to look at Ping Ji.
The deep gaze, filled with schadenfreude and boundless sympathy, made Ping Ji uneasy. He looked around at the others in bewilderment before shifting his puzzled gaze back to Ye Kai. "Who are you?"
"Do you want to live a life ten times better than the one you have now? Do you want to stop living in fear? Do you want to completely break free from the organization's control? Do you want to stop worrying about not seeing the sun rise again..."
Ye Kai's lips curled into a confident smile as he waved his hand and declared loudly, "As long as you follow me, all of this will be no problem for you. Just nod your head, and you can have it all."
This familiar opening line, this spirited tone, these enticing words made everyone roll their eyes internally at the same time; they were almost too exhausted to complain!
Each of them had been lured onto this 'pirate ship' by those few sentences. However, since they were already on board, they were eager for Ping Ji to join them.
Ping Ji: "..."
'I knew that whenever this feeling arises, no matter what 'job' I take on, it usually ends up in a pit,' Ping Ji sighed inwardly. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.
After two beeps, a voice came from the other end: "Hi, darling, when are you coming back?"
"Alena, my dear, I think I won't be able to make it over to your place recently. Work demands it; you understand."
"Oh, damn it, Ping Ji! You bastard! What? You just climbed into my bed and now you're turning your back on me? Damn it! I should have known you're just a heartless scoundrel! You jerk, lowlife, Bitch!"
Ye Kai was still puzzled, even secretly wondering if his passionate speech and persuasion had failed to move the other party.
But when he saw Ping Ji grinning and moving his phone away from his ear, followed by a series of crazy screams that made Ye Kai's eyelids twitch, he looked at the man who shrugged and spread his hands in indifference with an expression of 'you are really funny.'
A gentle breeze swept through, and the atmosphere suddenly turned cold.
Ye Kai felt as if the emotions he had worked so hard to build up had suffered a devastating blow, leaving him suddenly exhausted and disinterested.
It was like a boxer who had poured all his strength into a punch only to find he had hit nothing but air.
It was an incredibly frustrating feeling.
The others exchanged glances, completely bewildered by what was happening. Suddenly, no one could find any topic to discuss, and they were at a loss for words.
This awkward silence persisted until they entered the five-star hotel room.
After all, with the well-off Ye Kai around, they didn’t have to squeeze themselves into a cramped workshop or some shabby place.
Moreover, the security at a five-star hotel was indeed much more reliable; even if someone wanted to cause trouble, they would think twice about their own capabilities.
Cassie Holmes, the Loli, sat cross-legged on the enormous sofa, her big eyes darting left and right. After a moment, she lowered her head and quietly started munching on snacks. A while later, she mumbled, “I feel like I’ve come to a really strange place, hanging out with a bunch of really strange guys…”
Ye Kai, who had been sitting nearby, rolled his eyes at her comment. However, he soon slumped back against the large sofa and slowly said, “Anyway… I don’t care whether you agree or not; you’ve already been recruited by me. From now on, you must work for me. Otherwise, I’ll immediately call five hundred people to come and torment you.”
Ping Ji: “…”
Everyone else: “…”
For such a rogue-like declaration, everyone had long since become immune to it, so it was not surprising at all.
"Ugh!"
Unable to endure the strange atmosphere, Cassie Holmes offered the snacks in her hand to Nick and mumbled, "Do you want some?"
"No." Nick chuckled helplessly; he had long outgrown the age of eating such snacks!
"What about you, Ping Ji?"
Ping Ji wore a bitter smile. He realized that he had completely boarded this 'ship,' and even now, he still had no idea what kind of 'ship' it was. Who knew if eating this would inexplicably land him in debt?
So he shrugged at Loli and said, "I can't afford it."
Upon hearing this, Cassie Holmes immediately wrinkled her nose, let out a light huff, and turned to offer the snacks to Ye Kai.
"Wait!"
Ye Kai quickly stood up, his face serious as he said, "Nick, from the beginning, what did you just say? Let's go through it again."
Everyone was baffled, especially Nick. However, seeing the determined look in his strong-willed companion's eyes, he had no choice but to comply. Frowning as he thought for a moment, he hesitantly ventured, "No?"
As Ye Kai's gaze shifted towards him, Ping Ji immediately raised both hands and replied, "I can't afford it."
Just as everyone felt a chill run down their spines at the sudden tension in the air, Ye Kai suddenly became excited. He slammed his hand down on the table with a loud bang and shouted, "Call the landlord!"
Perhaps it was the sudden shout that startled everyone. Cassie Holmes turned pale, her hand trembling as the snack bag fell to the floor with a loud thud. Teresa and Emily were equally frightened, collapsing onto the ground in shock.
Liu Yi sprang up, adopting a defensive posture as he scanned the room, looking left and right.
In an instant, the room was in chaos.
Nick was also taken aback, but fortunately, he was sitting next to Hook. He instinctively grabbed Hook's inner thigh.
"Ah!"
The sound of Hook's scream sent another wave of shock through everyone in the room, including Ye Kai, who shivered in response.
"Bang!"
After a muffled sound, everyone stared blankly at the wreckage of the solid wood table, then glanced at Ye Kai, who was in an excited state, veins bulging on his forehead...
Perhaps only Ye Yi and Ye Er remained unfazed.
Well, unless you counted the twitching cheeks!
