It was a sunny day, with a gentle breeze stirring the white curtains.
In Stark Manor, the largest guest room.
Ye Kai threw a down pillow out of frustration, roaring in anger, "Damn it, can’t anyone let me sleep? Ye Yi, Ye Er, go outside and see who’s making all that noise. Tell them to shut up!"
It seemed that their commander was in a particularly foul mood upon waking. Ye Yi and Ye Er exchanged glances, smiles creeping onto their faces as they quietly stepped out of the room.
The two of them had undergone significant transformation over the past half month. Not only had their psychokinesis improved greatly, but their personalities had also changed; they were no longer the clueless fools they once were.
After half a month of interaction, they had fully taken on the role of instructors for the security personnel at Stark Manor, earning respect from nearly everyone.
However, there was one thing that caused headaches for them—and indeed for everyone else—and that was their commander, Ye Kai's temper.
This morning's grumpiness was mild compared to what it could be. If Colonel Philip were around, something amusing would likely unfold.
"Damn it!"
Rubbing his temples vigorously, Ye Kai sat up with a dark expression. Ye Yi and Ye Er had been gone for about three minutes now, yet the incessant arguing continued to drill into his head!
Wearing the finest handcrafted pajamas made by a master tailor, Ye Kai prepared to step outside barefoot to see who had the audacity to disturb him. Didn’t they know that Ye Dasha preferred to wake up naturally?
"I don’t care! I must see Ye!"
"I have to see him! Brian's right; I must see him today!"
“Albert and I have been waiting all morning, oh! It’s been a full thirteen minutes. Do you know how important thirteen minutes is for us?”
“Alan Turing…”
…
As renowned researchers filled Stark Manor, the entire place sprang into action, with countless individuals becoming tense.
No matter what, seeing so many national treasures gathered at Stark Manor was enough to put everyone on edge.
At this moment, Howard was already feeling overwhelmed, and no amount of persuasion seemed to work.
Moreover, even though he was a military weapons collaborator, he felt utterly powerless in front of this group, and he was on the verge of losing his mind.
Every person here had significant credentials; no one was inferior to him, just that their research fields were different. He immediately glanced at Ye Yi and Ye Er.
However, Ye Yi and Ye Er wore expressions bitter smile. Forcing them to take strong measures would be no better than throwing themselves against a wall; their superior had strictly ordered that no harm come to this group.
But what could they do now?
What could they possibly do?
Colonel Philip and Carter were completely stunned, while Howard rubbed his temples in irritation. Ye Yi and Ye Er wore bitter smiles, afraid to advise or act, and they certainly couldn’t defy their superior’s orders. Yet they couldn’t just hide away either; after all, their superior was resting upstairs!
“Hurry up! It’s already been fifteen minutes! You fools don’t understand that time is life? You’re committing murder, murder…”
"Step aside, step aside, we need to see Ye..."
"…"
Ye Kai, who had originally worn a gloomy expression, felt a bit more alert as he stepped out of his room and into the hallway. Upon hearing the angry shouts echoing around him, he immediately jolted awake!
He was scared too.
"Damn it!"
Grinding his teeth in frustration, he stomped his foot and rubbed his eyes vigorously until they turned red. Then he tousled his hair wildly. Finally, a thick black notebook appeared in his left hand.
As for the study, he had merely waved his hand carelessly while passing by, sending a chaotic mess of books scattering across the floor.
Taking a few deep breaths, he put on an act of fury and strode out, shouting, "Damn it, where is everyone? Why is it so noisy? If you delay my research today…"
"…"
Seeing this version of Ye Kai, nearly everyone was stunned. Of course, the "nearly" excluded Philip, Carter, and Howard; all the other researchers looked pale with shock.
They hadn't expected this—or perhaps they had completely forgotten—that as researchers, once inspiration struck, they would fall into an absolute frenzy. At such moments, if someone interrupted their passion for research, it was hard for anyone to suppress their anger.
One by one, they exchanged glances, unsure of what to do next.
"Ha, ha ha ha! My dearest friend, you have finally emerged from the laboratory! Do you know our friends have been waiting for you for a long time?"
Howard stepped forward, placing a hand on Ye Kai's shoulder and giving it a few hearty pats, feigning an overly cheerful expression. "Come on, let's get moving! Our upcoming research is of utmost importance, and we're all counting on you. Are you ready or not?"
At Howard's words, the group of nearly twenty researchers suddenly fell into a state of inexplicable excitement, almost forgetting everything that had just happened.
Ye Kai looked at the researchers, each one’s eyes sparkling with boundless enthusiasm, and finally let out a sigh of relief.
Damn it!
Fortunately, he had managed to snap them out of it; otherwise, this bunch of untouchable and unmanageable folks would have driven him crazy!
Of course, although their questions were more numerous than a hundred thousand "whys," they were truly the most lovable people.
They didn’t care who you were; as long as you delayed, obstructed, or interrupted their normal "laboratory life," they would transform into raging lions. Even Colonel Philip had been on the receiving end of their wrath more than once or twice.
"Alright, alright, just know that this time I’ll let you off easy. Next time, hmph!"
After threatening Howard with a toothy grin for a few moments, Ye Kai clapped his hands and called out loudly, "Everyone come here! You won’t believe what I’ve discovered! Gather in my study; this time I’ve prepared a big surprise for you all. Just try not to faint from excitement; you know I’m not exactly the best doctor."
Upon hearing this, everyone burst into laughter, fully aware of what Ye Kai meant.
They had all witnessed how Ye Kai saved lives using various bizarre potions that emitted nauseating odors—worse than the stench from a sewage ditch.
Thus, that "violent" method was something they could never forget.
Little did they know that those potions were actually improved versions based on divine modifications; Ye Kai had merely added some unpleasant scents for his own twisted amusement.
The subject of the experiment was none other than the renowned, oh, now quite popular among friends, Manly Man—Captain.
Watching a group of people excitedly head towards the study on the second floor, Howard felt a vein throb on his forehead.
Damn it, this is his home!
When did the study become someone else's?
Unfortunately, he couldn't remember when his status in his own estate had clearly declined. Glancing at the others, he muttered a curse under his breath and turned to leave.
Colonel Philip wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a long sigh; he was genuinely intimidated by this group of researchers who cared for nothing but their studies, completely disregarding other scientists.
Carter sat on the sofa with a pale face, lost in thought.
Perhaps only Ye Yi and Ye Er seemed relatively normal, but their tasks were even more demanding, as they needed to establish complete control within a three-kilometer radius around the estate.
After all, the world war was still raging fiercely!
