“Roar!!!”
Lucien removed the silver needle collar from his neck and let out a long howl, thick black fur sprouting from his body, his cheekbones protruding, and massive canine teeth gleaming with a chilling light.
‘What an astonishing presence!’
‘This guy is indeed a Werewolf. Although he is weakened by silver, it would be difficult for Wood to kill him in a one-on-one fight.’
Ye Kai, holding daggers in both hands, leaped like a raccoon and landed lightly on the carriage's roof. He spoke softly into the opening above, “Esteemed sir, I believe you will need a very powerful Mercenary, right?”
Barren Cobasell, though reluctant to spend money, had no choice but to bow his head in the current situation. With great reluctance, he pulled out a bag of gold coins. “Then according to Mercenary Law, you must protect our lives and property until we return to my territory. Hearing that this Mercenary was so reasonable and truly following the rules, Balen Cobasell’s heart, which had nearly jumped out of his throat, finally settled down as he immediately retrieved the remaining gold coins.

At that moment, the sound of galloping hooves echoed as over a dozen tall horses came racing in, their eyes still glowing with an unnatural gray-blue hue.
A thick stench of blood and decay hit them like a wave.
This time, Ye Kai did not make a move or show any reaction; he simply stood quietly by the carriage and watched the unfolding scene.
First came two flashes of silver that immediately pierced Lucien's back. Within three to five seconds, he had reverted to human form and lay sprawled on the ground in disarray.
Next came Victor's fury. Especially when he saw that Lucien's silver needle collar had been removed, his anger surged even more. From Ye Kai’s perspective, it appeared as if a blood bat was half-hidden in the void above him.
After exchanging some menacing words, a group of armored Vampire Knights split off two horses and instructed him to drive the carriage behind them.
The enormous Full Moon hung high in the sky, casting an endless, cold radiance.
The Death Legion, belonging to Prince Victor, was not merely the small group that Ye Kai had imagined; there were nearly two hundred of them, each Vampire Knight equipped with fine armor.
Not only did they wear splendid and exquisite full plate armor, but even the weapons at their waists were forged with silver specifically to combat werewolves.
Seeing this well-armed group, moving in perfect unison and with meticulous precision, Ye Kai couldn't help but recall the information he had read before.
It seemed that within the vampire hierarchy, there existed a strict aristocratic system that was quite severe.
Among these vampire warriors, there was also a strict ranking system; for every five lower-ranked knights, there was a higher-ranking vampire leader, and for every ten Vampire Knight leaders, there was an even higher-ranking one—seemingly a Vampire Nobility holding a title.
And among this group of vampires, the one with the highest status was undoubtedly the daughter of Prince Victor, the Vampire Princess Sonia.
Ye Kai pondered; no wonder Balen Cobasell, this Fatty, had given him gold coins. It turned out that the silver coins in that chest were meant as offerings!
Suddenly, he felt a chill run down his back as a sinister and obscure aura crept out from the carriage behind him, quietly approaching.
“Hiss!”
Feeling that malevolent aura being scorched by the Holy Rune on his body, he seemed to experience an illusion, hearing a faint hissing sound as if a hot iron were plunged into ice water.
“Ah!”
Ariel gasped softly; her vision suddenly went dark, and she trembled all over, nearly falling.
“What’s wrong, my dear?”
“My most beloved daughter, what has happened to you?”
"Everything's fine, everything's fine..."
Listening to the conversation in the carriage, Ye Kai couldn't help but curl his lips into a faint cold smile. Just a mere witch, after all. Even if her methods were somewhat peculiar, with Rune Technology having developed to its current level, dealing with her wouldn't be difficult at all.
However, it wasn't the right time yet.
The sounds of whips cracking filled the air, accompanied by muffled groans and screams. Occasionally, lagging slaves were shouted at and whipped by the Vampire Knights behind them. Those who attempted to escape faced ruthless slaughter!
Ye Kai clearly saw that whenever a group of people fell behind the pace, the Vampire Knights would take them away. After a while, those knights would return, but the ones taken away were never seen again.
Everyone was desperately trying to keep up, driven by the desire to survive, even though they had no idea what their ultimate fate would be.
As they approached the castle, Ye Kai began to feel increasingly uneasy.
When they finally reached the castle gates, a chilling and icy aura enveloped him instantly, causing every hair on his body to stand on end.
It felt like walking alone on a dark road after hearing ghost stories—an unsettling fear arose from not knowing what lay ahead in the eerie darkness.
Damn it!
This was undoubtedly a bloody and dark castle. The cold and sinister atmosphere carried an inescapable stench of blood. Just getting close felt as if he could hear countless dying humans' screams and their desperate curses echoing in his ears.
The castle before him resembled a monstrous creature with its mouth wide open, ready to devour all creatures!
"What a heavy aura of dread!"
Throughout the journey, Zhao Futu had gradually regained his strength through deep breathing and meditation. Now he even felt surprised by his own body. As his life force slowly recovered, it seemed as if some mysterious power was acting within him; his previously shattered right arm had miraculously healed itself completely.
The group was quickly led to their respective resting places.
Ye Kai followed Barren Cobasell, brought into a rather spacious room by Vampire Knight. "Wait for further summons and do not leave the room without permission, or you will bear the consequences," he warned.
Ye Kai paid little attention to this insignificant figure who looked down at him. After all, in a while, he might just turn into money in his pocket, so there was no need to get upset.
What concerned him more was Ariel Cobasell, the sixteen-year-old girl who occasionally stared at him with hesitation and confusion.
Just a minute after Vampire Knight left, Balen Cobasell, the nobleman, had already climbed into bed with his wife, appearing dazed and quickly falling asleep.
Pouring a glass of red wine, Ye Kai gently sniffed it and detected a very unique fragrance mixed with a hint of blood. He frowned slightly, set down the glass, and said softly, "Lady Witch, if you have something to say, please speak directly."
"Are you from the Holy See?" Ariel's entire being radiated a strong aura of evil, her Dual Eyes turning pitch black.
Feeling the familiar wave of energy in the air, Ye Kai's Dual Eyes also transformed into darkness. Psychokinesis surged forth with a muffled 'bang!' as both stepped back.
"Heresy!!!"
Ariel stared at him in shock before suddenly bursting into laughter. "Hahaha, so you are Heresy." Her tone shifted abruptly. "But it's fine; I'm not one of those hypocritical fools either. Perhaps we can collaborate on your objectives."
