Tengye Kikuko knew that Jiang Chen was exceptionally capable and that the Yagawa Association would not be able to do anything to him. However, she still did not want to trouble him.
"Mr. Jiang, I can handle my own affairs, so there's no need for you to get involved. You've already offended the Takeda Family this afternoon, and I fear there may be some trouble ahead. It would be best if you returned to Huaxia tomorrow," Tengye Kikuko said earnestly.
"What can the Takeda Family do to me? Let's talk about going back after I get what I need," Jiang Chen replied with a smile. He didn't think there would be any real trouble but didn't feel like explaining further.
Jiang Chen had secretly decided that he would help Tengye Kikuko deal with her fear of Murata Kazuki whenever the opportunity arose. In his eyes, Murata Kazuki was no more significant than an ant—easily crushed without any effort, and certainly not a source of trouble. He had spared him today, but next time, he wouldn't be so courteous.
"Alright then, Mr. Jiang, please have a seat while I go change," Tengye Kikuko said.
Jiang Chen made himself comfortable on the sofa. The members of the Tengye Family were displeased to see him lounging casually with his legs crossed, as if he owned the place.
"What an impolite guy," Tengye Shi said in a low voice.
"Kikuko, what did he say?" Jiang Chen asked.
"Uh, nothing much. He just said you're different," Tengye Kikuko quickly explained, then turned to her father and added, "I've already promised to marry Murata Kazuki; Mr. Jiang is my friend, and you shouldn't give him a hard time."
"Don't worry; he can't understand us anyway. Just go change and put on some makeup. We'll leave in an hour. By the way, Murata Kazuki will come by to pick you up," Tengye Shi said casually.
"What? He's coming over soon? What if he sees Mr. Jiang?" Tengye Kikuko felt anxious.
"What else can we do? Just have this Huaxia kid leave and stay at a hotel," Tengye Shi replied nonchalantly.
Tengye Kikuko frowned; she had already promised to take Jiang Chen to the party. How could she ask him to go to a hotel now? But given the situation, she had no other choice and could only hope that Murata Kazuki would behave himself tonight so as not to provoke Jiang Chen.
If all else failed, she would plead with Jiang Chen to spare Murata Kazuki's life. She believed that such a request would be met with understanding from Jiang Chen.
Instead of asking Jiang Chen to go to a hotel, Tengye Kikuko went to her room to change and do her makeup while Jiang Chen waited on the sofa, ignoring the disapproving looks from the Tengye Family members.
After more than half an hour, Tengye Kikuko emerged in a cherry blossom red kimono, wooden sandals on her feet, her hair elegantly styled, and her makeup applied heavily enough to mask her cuteness while adding an alluring touch.
The members of the Tengye Family were also dressed for the occasion; the women wore kimonos while the men donned suits.
This party was hosted by a friend of Tengye Shi's family, which is why they were invited.
"Mr. Jiang, do you want to change into something more formal?" Tengye Kikuko asked as she gracefully approached him, noticing his casual attire.
"No need; I'm fine as I am. Can we head out now?" Jiang Chen stood up.
"Just wait a moment. By the way, Murata Kazuki will be coming soon. Mr. Jiang, since there is some tension between you two, I hope you can avoid speaking with him to prevent escalating any conflicts," Tengye Kikuko said with concern in her voice.
