My hand immediately froze. 0

Out of the corner of my eye, I caught sight of a figure dressed in a robe, with their hair tied up in a bun, standing beside me like a Taoist priest. 0

I was startled and stumbled back a step, almost losing my balance, but he caught me. He gestured for me to remain silent. As I stared at him, memories flooded back; wasn't this the very corpse we had burned at the funeral home? 0

A wave of unease washed over me. How could he be here? 0

He hadn’t appeared before! My heart raced, and my face turned pale, but he stood silently beside me. 0

At that moment, Uncle Ghost urged me, "Why aren’t you drinking? If you don’t drink, you’ll have to fend for yourself!" 0

I glanced at Uncle Ghost and then at the Old Taoist. Since the Old Taoist advised against drinking, I decided not to. Although I didn’t know who was good or bad, my instinct told me not to drink this murky water. 0

I called out to Gao Ling, "Let’s go." 0

Gao Ling looked at me in surprise; he seemed to want to say something but was pulled along by me instead. 0

Uncle Ghost continued shouting from inside, "You better not regret it!" 0

I thought to myself that I definitely wouldn’t regret it. Uncle Ghost didn’t seem very powerful; after all, this Taoist was right next to him and hadn’t sensed anything unusual. But perhaps there was another possibility: the Taoist’s abilities were greater. 0

The Taoist didn’t vanish; he simply followed me in silence. 0

He appeared much more robust than when we had burned him that day. I said to Gao Ling, "Let’s hurry; otherwise, I’ll go talk to Uncle Ghost. You’ve already tied the knot with a ghost; if anything happens, we’re done for." 0

I said to Gao Ling, "Do you think Uncle Ghost is reliable? That bowl of dark water must have some issues." 0

Gao Ling replied, "You're right. I went to him before, and he's not a good person." 0

I realized I had been desperate and reckless before. 0

As we were nearing the place where Gao Ling parked, her phone suddenly rang. She answered it, exchanged a few brief words, and then hung up. I asked her who called so late. 0

Gao Ling's expression changed as she said, "It was Uncle Ghost. He said he suddenly wants to help you." 0

I looked at Gao Ling in disbelief. "Really? Does that mean I don't have to drink that bowl of water?" 0

Gao Ling replied, "No, you don't." I thought to myself, where could this kind of good fortune come from? Uncle Ghost seemed normal at first glance, but the longer you looked at him, the more unsettling he felt. 0

I glanced at the Taoist priest, who shook his head at me. 0

So I said to Gao Ling, "Forget it. That guy is eerie; I'm afraid something might go wrong. Let's think of another way!" 0

Gao Ling agreed, "Alright. If we really have no other options later, we can always go back." 0

I got into Gao Ling's car and we arrived home. It was around three in the morning when I entered my room, and the Taoist priest followed me in. Once inside, our eyes met. He had probably been following me for a long time but had never acted against me, so I felt certain he wouldn't harm me. 0

I stared at the Taoist priest for a moment but felt uneasy and shifted my gaze away. 0

He remained calm and composed. 0

I asked the Taoist priest, "Can you help me?" Facing him made me anxious; after all, we had burned his corpse before, and now that his urn had been stolen was also my responsibility! 0

The old Taoist simply replied with one word: "Can." 0

Upon hearing this, I felt a surge of excitement within me. Could it really be possible? 0

The Taoist nodded, indicating that it was indeed possible. 0

I asked, "What should I do?" However, even as I spoke, a sense of doubt lingered in my heart. As the saying goes, there’s no such thing as a free lunch; surely this Taoist wouldn’t help me for no reason! 0

So, I inquired, "You didn’t show up before. Why are you suddenly here now to help me?" 0

The Taoist asked, "Do you know what the water you drank is called?" 0

I shook my head, indicating that I didn’t know, and then asked what kind of water it was. 0

The Taoist replied, "If you had drunk that bowl of water, your mind would have been controlled, and you would have turned into a walking corpse." 0

Listening to the old Taoist's words sent a chill down my spine! If I had really drunk it earlier, I would have been doomed. 0

Although the Taoist said this, he still hadn’t answered my previous question. I wondered if he would truly help me after I lost the urn. 0

At that moment, the Taoist was also scrutinizing me, and I began to feel a twinge of wariness. 0

He continued, "Do you remember? Last time on the bus, I borrowed a girl’s mouth to speak with you. I will always be following you; that’s a fact. I have no intention of harming you. If I wanted to harm you, you would have been dead long ago." 0

His words were sincere and reasonable. I didn’t interrupt him but waited for him to continue. The Taoist added, "If it weren’t for your loss of the urn, I wouldn’t have revealed myself at all." 0

Upon hearing the mention of the urn again, I quickly explained, "I really didn’t mean to lose the urn." 0

"I understand, Daoist. I didn't mean to blame you." 0

From the tone of the Daoist, it seemed he had no intention of asking for my help. Was he here just to assist me? I replied, "My friend has already gone to find Urn. I believe it won't be long before they locate it." 0

The Daoist said, "No need to rush. Let me help you through this first." 0

Hearing this, I hurriedly thanked him, though confusion still lingered in my mind. After all, ever since we burned the Daoist's body at the funeral home, Brother Li and Zhang had encountered trouble. Back then, Zhang Xun, Old Wang, and I all thought it was the 'body' we burned that was responsible. 0

Gathering my courage, I asked, "Was it you who killed the person at the funeral home?" 0

As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt a bit uneasy; I was afraid the Daoist might turn hostile! But to my surprise, he shook his head and said, "I didn't kill anyone." 0

I pressed on, "If it wasn't you, then who was it?" 0

The Daoist replied, "I didn't lay a hand on anyone. As for who did, I'm not sure." 0

I murmured to myself that if it wasn't the Daoist who acted, then who could the murderer be? Could it be Brother Li? Or perhaps Zhang? Now Old Wang was truly dead! 0

The Daoist said, "What you need to focus on now isn't these matters but rather how to save your own life." 0

Snapping back to reality, I realized he was right; my priority was to stay alive. So I asked him what I should do. 0

The Daoist explained, "It's quite simple. First, you need to sever your 'fate' with this female ghost." 0

I asked, "How do I sever it?" 0

He instructed, "Tonight, burn some paper and tell the female ghost to come over tomorrow night." I nodded in agreement and quickly followed his instructions. Since I needed to burn Joss Paper for Urn earlier, I had everything ready at hand. 0

The Taoist instructed me to write the name Lin Xue on paper, and it had to be written in blood. 0

I agreed to everything he said, and then I burned a lot of Joss Paper. After finishing, the Taoist warned me that before anything else, the female ghost must not come to harm. Since I had already formed a Spirit Medium Pact with her, if anything happened to her and she died, I would be doomed as well. At that point, he wouldn't be able to save me. 0

What? I was shocked. This female ghost was already putting my life at risk; now I had to ensure she stayed safe? 0

But this female ghost was an Evil Spirit! A cold-blooded Evil Spirit that wouldn't hesitate to kill. Who could possibly take action against her? Surely, she would be fine. 0

After burning the Joss Paper, I told the Taoist that I was done. He looked at me and said, "Use your blood to write a Yellow Talisman for me." I hesitated but eventually agreed. 0

However, I only wrote the word “Decree.” The Taoist glanced at the Yellow Talisman, then surprisingly picked it up. Although he was a Taoist, he was also a ghost! A ghost directly taking my Yellow Talisman—but after picking it up, white smoke began to rise, which seemed to harm him. 0

Yet the Taoist suppressed it and then took out a pen, writing a series of characters below. The symbols were incomprehensible to me. The Taoist said, "This is for your protection." 0

I looked at it but didn’t understand, so I put it away. Concerned about the Taoist, I asked if he was alright. He shook his head and assured me he was fine. 0

"I'll be leaving now," he said. "I'll come back tomorrow night." 0

I nodded. After the Taoist disappeared, I lay down on my bed and closed my eyes for a bit. However, it wasn't long before dawn broke. As soon as it brightened, Gao Ling surprisingly woke up early too. When we met, Gao Ling asked me, "Did you have a nightmare all night?" 0

I replied, "What do you mean?" 0

Gao Ling said, "In the middle of the night when I went to the bathroom, I heard you talking to yourself." 0

I denied it and told Gao Ling not to overthink things. We went out for breakfast together, and then Gao Ling received another phone call—it was from Uncle Ghost again. 0

After chatting for a while with Uncle Ghost, Gao Ling suddenly turned to me and asked, "Did you talk to a ghost last night?" 0

Her abrupt question left me stunned. I stared at Gao Ling, momentarily speechless. Once I regained my composure, I asked, "How did you know?" 0

"Gao Ling said, 'Uncle Ghost told me.' 0

Could my heart really be this eerie? Is Uncle Ghost truly that powerful? But at that time, the Taoist appeared beside me in his house, and he didn't even notice. Now, I had been talking to a ghost last night; could it be that he's trying to trick me? 0

Damn it, what kind of person is Uncle Ghost anyway? 0

Gao Ling continued, 'Uncle Ghost caught that Evil Spirit last night. If you go over tonight, he can help you break the Spirit Medium Pact. You were talking to that female ghost last night, right? Come on, you don't actually like her, do you?' 0

What the hell? I immediately replied to Gao Ling, 'What are you talking about?' 0

Seeing my anger, Gao Ling said, 'I was just joking; you don't have to get so mad!' 0

I said, 'No, did Uncle Ghost really catch the woman in red?' 0

Gao Ling confirmed, 'Yes. The Taoist just told me last night that the female ghost can't be in trouble. Damn it, how did this mess happen today? If that's the case, I'm doomed.' 0
