Living Funeral
I was momentarily lost in thought, then I leaned my head out of the car window to take a look, but all I could see was darkness creeping in.
The scenery outside rushed past me in a blur.
The woman in red said to me, "Chen Lang, don't worry. He will be fine."
A heaviness settled in my heart, mixed with guilt. Had I misunderstood Zhang Xun earlier?
Damn it, had I really lost my sense of right and wrong? Had I become someone like this? I questioned myself internally.
But no one could provide me with an answer.
My heart felt bitter as the woman in red comforted me, "Chen Lang, try not to be too sad."
Gao Ling, noticing my state, said, "Come on, Brother Zhang must have his reasons for doing this. Besides, with his abilities, who could possibly harm him? Not even a hundred ghosts; even a thousand wouldn't stand a chance against him."
Gao Ling was boasting without restraint, and I had no response.
The woman in red continued to reassure me, "Chen Lang, he truly is a living dead man; he can't die."
"Living dead?" I asked in confusion. I hadn't had the time to inquire earlier, but now that I did, I wanted to understand. The woman in red explained, "Chen Lang, being a living dead man means he stands with one foot in each realm; it's not so easy for him to get into trouble."
I murmured softly at the end, hoping that was the case.
At that moment, Gao Ling exclaimed, "Hey, that's strange!"
I quickly asked, "What’s wrong?" Gao Ling replied, "I can't find that place on the GPS."
I asked, "Where is it?"
Gao Ling replied, "It's at Dragon Family Town, Coffin Street!"
Upon hearing Gao Ling, I quickly took out my phone and began searching on the map. However, when I entered the place name, it turned out that there was no such location.
I started to panic and urged Gao Ling to turn back and take another look. The red-dressed ghost did not try to stop me this time.
When we arrived at the original location of Coffin Street, I recalled that it should be around here, but it had already transformed into a regular road.
Gao Ling said, "No way, it can't be this eerie." I felt confused myself, unable to understand what was happening. The red-dressed ghost said to me, "Chen Lang, that place isn't something you can just enter anytime, and not everyone can go in."
After thinking for a moment, I agreed. If such an eerie place could be accessed so easily, countless people would have died there every year.
But if it wasn't that easy to get in, then it meant that even if Zhang Xun wasn't dead, he must be trapped inside.
We stood there for a while; my mind was a flurry of thoughts. I sighed and could only silently pray that Zhang Xun would return alive from Coffin Street.
We got back in the car and started driving toward the city. It took us nearly all night to reach our destination.
The red-dressed ghost said to me, "Chen Lang, these people really miss you; they long for you."
I was taken aback for a few seconds and hugged the red-dressed ghost a little tighter.
By the time we arrived, it was nearly midnight. Gao Ling and I entered the house. After taking off my clothes and showering, I lay down on the bed to rest. However, the red-dressed ghost lay on my bed in seductive attire, partially covered. It gave off a feeling of being like a pipa half-hidden behind a curtain. Her alluring curves, long legs, and the prominent part of her chest made my heart race.
Her lips were as plump as cherries, and her big eyes sparkled with allure.
Suddenly, the red-dressed ghost said to me, "Chen Lang, it's been a long time since we... you know."
I asked, "Which one?"
The woman in the red dress replied, "It's Shameful." A blush appeared on her face, but at that moment, I wasn't in the mood to dwell on it. I felt a bit sad about the recent events.
So I told her, "How about we save it for next time? I just want to be alone for a while."
The woman in red kindly said, "Chen Lang, I won't disturb you or do anything Shameful. I'll just stay by your side."
I glanced at her and said, "Alright then."
I lay down on the bed, preparing to sleep. The embrace of the woman in red surprisingly gave me a sense of safety and warmth.
Before long, I fell into a deep sleep. When I opened my eyes groggily, I found myself enveloped in thick fog. As I looked around, I realized I was standing on top of a coffin.
There was no one around; only four coffins lined up on either side. I jumped down from the coffin, but just then, someone suddenly said to me, "I can only help you this far."
I quickly turned my head to look, but saw nothing; the fog was too dense. I asked, "Who are you?"
Instead of answering directly, the voice continued, "Do you have any other requests?"
After those words were spoken, I saw a shadow flash by. I quickly chased after it, pushing through the heavy fog until I arrived at a bamboo grove.
However, the grove was filled with withered leaves, making it look desolate and lifeless.
I shouted, "Is anyone there?"
My voice echoed in the emptiness as I continued walking forward. Just then, I tripped over something and fell.
Getting back up from the ground, I cursed under my breath and looked around to see what had caused me to stumble.
I took a glance and discovered it was a skull. Cursing my bad luck, I continued walking, but just then, I suddenly spotted a lonely tomb ahead.
In front of the lonely tomb knelt a woman, weeping. I approached her and asked, "Excuse me, where is this place?"
The surroundings felt utterly unfamiliar to me.
The woman draped in white fabric ignored me completely and continued to cry.
So, I gently tapped her shoulder and asked again, "What is this place?"
However, when she turned to look at me, I was instantly terrified. Her entire face was a skull, devoid of any flesh.
Yet she kept sobbing. I let out a startled scream, ready to run away, but when I saw the name on the tombstone, that fear didn't hit me all at once; it was like the creeping dread you feel before an injection, rising from deep within and enveloping me entirely.
At that moment, the woman with the skeletal face suddenly embraced me and said, "Come keep him company..."
Her voice was chilling and eerie. I was completely stunned, my mind racing as I screamed in terror.
Just then, a voice beside me broke through the fear. "Fei, why are you screaming so early in the morning?"
I opened my eyes to see Gao Ling standing by my bed. Suddenly realizing that I had just had a nightmare, I wiped the sweat off my forehead.
I noticed Gao Ling wearing a strange smile. "How did you get in here?" I asked.
"You left the door open," Gao Ling replied.
"I closed it last night!" I insisted.
"You didn't," Gao Ling said. "If you had closed it, how could I have come in?"
"Then why are you smiling?" I asked.
Gao Ling suddenly pointed at my underwear and said, "Did you have a wet dream last night?"
Damn it, I glanced at my underwear and immediately replied to Gao Ling, "Get lost! This is seriously embarrassing!"
How could I have had a wet dream? I don't remember anything like that; all I had was a nightmare! Did I really scare myself so badly?
No way, that would be truly embarrassing. It wasn't until I ran to the bathroom and changed my underwear that I confirmed I had indeed had a wet dream.
Thank goodness it wasn't because I scared myself; otherwise, I'd be humiliated all the way back home.
At that moment, Gao Ling called out to me, "Fei, having a wet dream is something that happens often to virgins. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Tonight, I'll take you to Tsunami."
I couldn't be bothered to respond to this guy. I returned to my room to get dressed. I put on my pants and picked up my shirt. Just as I was halfway through putting it on, something on the bed caught my attention.
However, I didn't reach out for it immediately. A nagging feeling of unease crept over me. Although part of it was covered by the blanket, it still looked familiar.
I thought to myself, Damn it, I can't be this unlucky! That thing is back again!
