Living Funeral
I can't believe they are forcing me into this. Of course, I don't want to, especially since it involves death.
My mind raced as I thought of a way out; I couldn't just give in! Those six people stood there, dazed and foolish. Dan Dan quickly leaned in to kiss me, but I turned my head away, letting her miss. She pressed against me tightly, and it was difficult to break free. The thought of Jiang Hao's fate sent a wave of panic through me.
If only I hadn't looked into this in the first place; now I've uncovered a disaster.
Dan Dan kept trying to kiss me, but I wouldn't let her. She said, "Don't refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a penalty. I could just kill you right here and then proceed."
Her words left me stunned.
I replied to Dan Dan, "Even if you intend to kill me, at least let me die with some understanding. What exactly are you?"
Dan Dan smiled seductively at me and said, "Did you not prepare yourself before coming to Zhang Family Village? It's full of ghosts." Her tone was chilling.
She wasn't wrong; Zhang Family Village was indeed filled with ghosts. If I had known that beforehand, I would never have come here. Damn it, this cursed place has trapped me. That fat Zhang didn't bother to give me any warning. Now it's too late for regrets.
Just then, the Taoist priest and the woman in red had vanished; it was strange!
Dan Dan asked, "Have you finished asking your questions?"
I thought to myself that if she let me keep asking, I might uncover something significant. But it was clear that Dan Dan wouldn't have the patience for that. She warned, "I advise you not to move carelessly again; otherwise, I'll dig out your heart and eat it."
I fell silent for a moment and said, "Can you let me be on top?"
"Why?"
"I prefer being on top." Dan Dan looked at me in disbelief. I continued, "This is my last request. If you grant it, I'll let you do whatever you want."
I stared at Dan Dan as she stared back at me. Finally, she said, "Fine, but you'd better not try any tricks; you know what will happen if you do."
I cursed under my breath. What was next? Jiang Hao was my next target. Besides, Jiang Hao had already submitted to her; his fate had been so miserable that I could only imagine how much worse mine would be if I resisted. In the end, it would all lead to death anyway.
Dan Dan had promised me, and we began to turn our bodies. However, as we did, she clung tightly to my hand. Damn it, she was really scheming against me. She started to help me take off my clothes.
I bit my tongue hard enough to draw blood. The pain was sharp, and soon saliva mixed with blood filled my mouth.
Damn it, don’t blame me; I thought to myself, you were the one who put my life in danger first. At that moment, I looked at Dan Dan, and my heart raced. If I didn’t know something was off about her, I might have lost control completely.
I wasn’t Tang Seng or Liu Xia Hui! Given the chance, I would definitely make some mistakes. Sweat dripped from my forehead onto her body as I glanced at the few people standing nearby; they looked like fools.
“Just wait a bit, and you’ll be happy,” Dan Dan said.
So many people had died in Zhang Family Village; the resentment must be heavy here. It wouldn’t be surprising if there were ghosts; it would be strange if there weren’t. Blood filled my mouth as my cheeks puffed out.
My upper body was already bare, and just as I was about to remove the lower half of my clothing—Damn it! I hesitated no longer and spat a mouthful of blood directly onto Dan Dan’s face. In an instant, she let out a piercing scream, her face turning crimson. The sound echoed in my ears like a drumbeat.
I reacted quickly, grabbing my backpack along with my clothes and Dan Dan’s black cheongsam. I jumped off the bed just as she screamed frantically, “Catch him! Catch him!”
The six people quickly regained their senses and rushed toward me. With blood still in my mouth, I sprayed it at those possessed individuals.
They all screamed but continued to chase after me.
I ran toward the door without daring to look back, heading straight for the entrance of Zhang Family Village. This eerie place made me unwilling to stay any longer.
I sprinted for half an hour before things finally quieted down behind me. They must not have caught up yet, I thought.
Holding a flashlight in one hand, I pulled out my phone to check the time—it was exactly midnight.
What had happened tonight was truly heart-stopping. I had no intention of going back. After resting for about five minutes, I continued on my way out.
The road itself was quite long. It had taken me one or two hours to walk in, and now it would take just as long to walk out. The only difference was the time of day—daylight versus night.
With dense woods lining both sides of the path, it felt eerie even during the day, but at night, that feeling intensified.
I tried to bolster my courage, telling myself that the ghosts were all in Zhang Family Village and surely wouldn’t follow me out here. I muttered to myself and continued walking.
However, as I walked, a chilling wind began to blow, and suddenly it felt as if the road had no end. Even at one in the morning, I still hadn’t made it out.
Something felt off. It was strange; logically, after walking for so long, I should have been able to exit, yet here I was. After experiencing so many eerie events, I quickly realized that I had encountered the Ghost Wall.
Damn it, of all the eerie things that could happen to me, this was it. I decided not to move forward anymore and sat down on the ground. At that moment, I still had Dan Dan’s black cheongsam with me.
I glanced at it and thought about what I was going to do with this thing. Initially wanting to toss it away, I ultimately stuffed it into my backpack.
Damn it, Fatty Zhang! I started cursing under my breath. Then I called Fatty Zhang on my phone, not really expecting it to connect.
To my surprise, the call went through. As soon as it connected, my anger flared up. I shouted into the phone, “Fatty Zhang, are you trying to get me killed?”
Fatty Zhang should have known that I wasn’t capable of handling this situation alone. Yet he still sent me off to Zhang Family Village by myself—wasn’t that just asking for trouble?
Fatty Zhang chuckled on the other end and said, “Chen Fei, why are you so anxious? You’re not dead yet, are you?”
I cursed again. If I were dead, would I even be able to talk to you right now? Fatty Zhang paused for a moment before replying calmly—too calmly for my liking.
I told him, “I’ve run into the Ghost Wall and can’t get out now. What should I do?”
I pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. Fatty Zhang replied from his end, “I was just about to mention that.”
Did he somehow know I had encountered the Ghost Wall? I said to him, “Then why are you wasting time? Hurry up and come help me!”
Zhang Pangzi said, "Chen Fei, listen to me. What you're encountering right now is not the Ghost Wall; someone is plotting against you."
I was confused. What did he mean? Someone was plotting against me?
Zhang Pangzi continued, "Look around you. Do you notice that all the trees are leaning in one direction?"
I shone my flashlight upwards. It was late at night, and I was bare-chested, feeling a chill in the air. After scanning the area, I realized I couldn't discern the direction of those trees! My sense of direction had always been poor.
Frustrated, I said to Zhang Pangzi, "You’ve really put me in a tough spot this time."
Zhang Pangzi replied, "I didn't expect someone would act so quickly against you."
I retorted, "If you could think of everything, that would be something!"
Zhang Pangzi tried to reassure me, "Chen Fei, don't panic. Help is already on the way. Just hold on for a little longer."
Since Zhang Pangzi said that, I felt there was no point in arguing further. I decided to wait for a bit longer. After hanging up the phone, a cold breeze suddenly blew towards me.
I was almost done with my cigarette. After tossing the butt to the ground and extinguishing it with my foot, I looked up and was stunned. After a moment of silence, I asked, "What are you doing here?"
