She shouldn't have said that, but it piqued my interest. 0

I said, "I share a room with her, and it feels strange. I'm scared inside." 0

Wang Yan looked at me, a strange expression crossing her face. I asked, "Is there something wrong with that woman?" At that moment, I noticed beads of sweat forming on Wang Yan's forehead. She then said, "Are you still going to the bathroom? If not, I can help you back." 0

Seeing Wang Yan's serious demeanor made me feel uneasy; she seemed reluctant to discuss the matter. I chuckled lightly and said, "You go ahead and do your thing. I can manage the bathroom on my own." 0

I thought it was just a polite remark, but unexpectedly, Wang Yan didn't reciprocate the courtesy. She handed me the IV bag and hurried away. 0

Watching her run off in a panic left me puzzled. Was it really necessary to react so strongly just to inquire about someone? After Wang Yan left, I went to the bathroom by myself. 0

After finishing up, I returned to the ward as it was nearing midnight. I lay down on the bed and turned off the light since it was late. 0

However, once the lights were out, I found myself engulfed in panic. Even though the woman in red was beside me, I still felt terrified. With such a presence in the room, I truly couldn't bring myself to sleep. 0

So, I turned the light back on, planning to stay awake until dawn. 0

The woman in red said to me, "Chen Lang, you should sleep. There's no need to be afraid; I'll keep watch over you." 0

I took a deep breath but still felt unable to sleep. After sitting for about half an hour, I lit a cigarette when suddenly the woman stood up and ominously commanded, "Turn off the light and go to sleep." 0

Damn! Those words sent a chill down my spine—turn off the light and go to sleep... 0

Seizing the moment while she spoke, I asked, "Fellow patient, hello. I'm..." 0

She interrupted me, saying, "Turn off the lights and go to sleep." 0

I thought to myself, no way am I turning off the lights or going to sleep. But this woman kept repeating the same phrase. So, I decided to turn away and sleep on my side, facing away from her, hoping that out of sight would mean out of mind. However, a few seconds later, the lights went out. 0

I turned my head to see that the woman had already lain down, but she seemed to be trembling, as if she were very cold. The light coming in from outside illuminated her curled-up form. She was still murmuring, "Turn off the lights and go to sleep." 0

At that moment, I asked the woman in red, "Did she turn off the lights herself?" 0

The woman in red replied, "Yes, Chen Lang. You shouldn't overthink it. I feel she's quite normal; perhaps she just has some physical issues." 0

I thought to myself, it's so hot; they even have air conditioning in the hospital room. Why is she trembling so much? 0

I didn't dwell on it for long and closed my eyes to sleep. Slowly, drowsiness overcame me, and I drifted off. However, in the middle of the night, I had a nightmare that jolted me awake. 0

After waking up, I was drenched in cold sweat. The room was pitch black, and my first instinct was to grab my phone. Once I found it, I turned on the flashlight. 0

In my dream, it felt like someone was eating a baby... 0

Damn it, that was really frightening. I turned on the lights in the hospital room. As the brightness filled the space, my tense nerves began to relax a bit. Sitting up in bed, I noticed that the woman in red had vanished, and so had the woman from the adjacent bed. 0

I realized that the IV needle had been removed at some point; perhaps it happened when I first woke up. My eyes hadn’t yet adjusted to the light in this place, so I squinted for a moment. Once my eyes adapted to the brightness, I fully opened them. 0

I got out of bed and called out for the woman in red, but there was no response. 0

Checking my phone for the time revealed it was three in the morning. I left the hospital room and started walking down the corridor. Where could that woman have gone? 0

I felt that there was something off about that woman, and judging by Wang Yan's attitude, it was clear that she was hiding something. 0

At that moment, it was three in the morning, and the hospital was eerily quiet. There wasn't a soul around; even the nurses on duty were fast asleep. I was the only one wandering around. 0

After circling the area, I found nothing unusual. 0

Reluctantly, I returned to my hospital room. Just as I reached for the doorknob, a hand suddenly landed on my shoulder. 0

What the hell? Who scares someone like this in the middle of the night? I quickly turned to see who it was and was startled, but thankfully, I regained my composure just in time. 0

I said, "What are you doing? Take your hand off me." 0

She replied ominously, "Aren't you looking for me?" Her voice was cold, sending chills down my spine. I responded, "What would I be looking for you for? I just went to the restroom." 0

Her entire head was covered by her hair; if it weren't for her chest being visible, I wouldn't have been able to tell which way she was facing. 0

The woman didn't remove her hand from my shoulder, so I had no choice but to swat it away myself. I opened the door and stepped into the room. 0

She followed me inside and sat down on the bed in her usual manner. The scare she gave me earlier had put me in a bad mood. 0

So I said, "Could you make a little noise when you walk next time?" 0

She simply replied, "I can't." 0

I was left speechless. 0

I didn't know what I wanted. We sat in this hospital room, not saying a word, and at that moment, I still didn't know what I wanted. 0

After a while, I finally spoke up, "Who are you?" As soon as I finished speaking, the woman moved her head slightly, though I couldn't tell if she was assessing me. 0

She continued, "I just heard a pregnant woman crying in another room." 0

I quickly reacted and asked, "Where is the pregnant woman?" My mind was heavy with thoughts; I couldn't understand why the woman was talking to me like this. She replied, "At the end of this corridor." 0

I looked at her in surprise but still didn't step outside. Instead, I asked, "Why is the pregnant woman crying?" 0

The woman shook her head and said, "Turn off the lights and go to sleep." 0

Damn it, I felt increasingly uneasy. What game was this woman playing with me? It truly baffled me. She then got up and turned off the lights. The pregnant woman was crying at the end of the corridor, but when I had just gone there, it seemed there was no one crying. 0

My doubts grew heavier. The woman had already lain down by now, so I asked, "You're not lying to me, are you?" 0

But she ignored me. I had no choice but to get up myself. Damn it, I'll just go take a look; after all, I'm not losing anything significant. With that thought in mind, I climbed out of bed and headed outside. 0

However, once I stepped out the door, I didn't hear anyone crying. The corridor branched into two directions; I chose one side randomly and walked over. There was no sound on the left side, so I had no choice but to switch sides and head right. 0

At that moment, I increasingly felt that the woman was deceiving me. Yet when I arrived at the end of the corridor, I indeed heard someone crying—a woman's voice intermittently. 0

Moreover, there was light coming from inside the room. I leaned closer to listen for a moment but sensed something was off. So, I knocked on the door several times. Suddenly, the crying inside stopped abruptly. 0

I asked, "Is everything alright in there?" 0

But inside, there was nothing but silence, as if no one were there at all. I continued to ask, "If you need my help, you can just let me know." 0

Yet, there was still no response. After asking a couple of questions without an answer, I prepared to turn away. Just as I did, the person inside began to cry again. 0

This was truly eerie. I asked, "Hello, do you want me to call a doctor for you?" 0

I felt uneasy; suddenly, this hospital seemed a bit frightening, and the sound of crying was unsettling. This time, the crying did not fade away. I knocked on the door, the sound echoing with a firm "knock knock knock." 0

She replied, "You can come in; the door isn't locked." 0

I hesitated for a moment and asked, "Is it convenient?" 0

Her voice still carried a sobbing tone as she said, "It's fine; just come in." I then turned the doorknob and opened the door. 0

The room was lit, but the light was old and worn out, unlike the bulbs found in modern hospitals. 0

She was sitting on the edge of the bed with her back to me. I paused for a moment instead of stepping forward and asked, "Are you okay? Is there anything I can help you with?" 0

After my words fell silent, her voice changed; it became somewhat strange. She said, "Could you come over and help me take off my clothes?" 0
