Living Funeral
After the mountain was finished, I was stunned, then I said, "Do you think I would believe you?"
"Believe it or not, it's up to you. If it weren't for Jiang Changsheng telling me to do this, how would I even know the name Jiang Changsheng?"
At that moment, the mountain was glaring at me fiercely. I fell silent, having no words to say. To me, this person seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, without any warning.
"Do you believe it now?"
I still didn't respond. At that moment, Li Qiang said to me, "Aged, don't listen to his nonsense."
Suddenly, the mountain burst into laughter and said, "Actually, you all believe it, don't you?"
Believe you, you deadhead. I ignored the mountain; no matter what he said next, I paid him no mind. After a while, Fu Yan finally arrived with some people, including Gao Ling. When Gao Ling saw me, she asked, "Fei, where have you been?"
I was covered in blood at that moment. Fu Yan glanced around.
Worried that Fu Yan might see the mountain as a victim, I quickly spoke up to her, "Officer Fu, this kid is one of the masterminds; his name is Shan."
After my words fell, both Fu Yan and Gao Ling were stunned, unable to believe it. I continued, "Have you seen Li Qiang? He did this." The mountain let out a chilling laugh at that moment.
Gao Ling asked, "Fei, is this brat really that vicious?"
"I didn't do anything! He's framing me; I'm just a kid!" Shan quickly replied.
Damn it, this brat really pulled that card on me. If that's the case, I'm afraid Fu Yan might actually believe him. Given his age, it could be convincing; a kid in his early teens could commit such cruel and vicious acts. If I hadn't experienced it myself, honestly, I wouldn't believe it either.
I said to Fu Yan, "I have no reason to lie to you. Would I frame a ten-year-old child if it weren't true?"
At that moment, a police officer said to Fu Yan, "Brother Fu, all the bodies of the deceased women are here, not a single one missing."
Fu Yan nodded, but just then, Crying Mountain unexpectedly started to cry and shouted, "Uncle police, he's lying!" At that moment, the mountain looked somewhat like a child.
However, the cruel side he had shown earlier lingered in my mind.
Gao Ling said to me, "Fei, I absolutely believe you. This kid clearly isn't a good person."
The mountain protested, "What can a child like me do?" He began to play innocent.
At that moment, Li Qiang spoke up, "I can prove this kid isn't a good person. All the injuries on me were caused by him."
The mountain continued to cry. Unable to watch any longer, I rushed over and slapped him across the face. To my surprise, he cried even louder. I turned to Fu Yan and said, "Believe it or not, this case is yours now. As for what happens next, you handle it yourself. I'm going to get vaccinated."
"Vaccinated? Fei, what vaccine are you getting?"
I replied that I had been bitten by a cat. As I was leaving, I told Fu Yan to call me if anything else came up. When I passed by Li Qiang, he whispered to me, "You shouldn't be involved; I won't say a word."
I didn't quite understand what he meant at first, but his expression indicated there was more to it. With Fu Yan present, I couldn't ask further questions and simply left. Gao Ling followed behind me and once we were outside, she asked what had happened last night.
I replied, "I almost got killed by the mountain."
"Is it true? Is he really that eerie?" I was curious, but I couldn't find a reason to explain it. Gao Ling asked me, "Where are we going now?"
I replied to Gao Ling that we were going to get vaccinated. Didn't we just talk about it? I really was going to get vaccinated! Was I pretending? Soon, Gao Ling took me to the Vaccine Hospital for my shot. After getting vaccinated, I went home to take a shower and change my clothes.
Sitting on the sofa, I felt restless. I asked Gao Ling if Zhang Xun had returned.
"No."
As soon as Gao Ling finished speaking, I pulled out my phone and tried to call Zhang Xun, but the call didn't go through.
Where could Zhang Xun have gone? I still had questions for him regarding Li Qiang. Unable to reach Zhang Xun, I decided to call Fatty Zhang. Honestly, I hadn't expected to get through to all these people at once.
However, this time, I managed to get through to Fatty Zhang.
"I've wrapped up things with Li Qiang," I said.
"I know," Fatty Zhang replied.
His tone became somewhat agitated as he cursed, "Damn it! You knew? Why didn't you come help me last night?"
Fatty Zhang coughed a few times on the other end of the line and then said, "Damn it, Chen Fei! If I hadn't helped you last night, you would have been dead. Do you think it was just Li Qiang in that alley? There were others watching you from the shadows. If I hadn't intervened, you might have been dead by now."
"Who was watching me?" I asked.
There was silence on Fatty Zhang's end. I continued, "Is there really someone, or did you just make this up from the beginning?"
I heard a commotion coming from Fatty Zhang's side, followed by a loud bang as a door slammed shut. Then the call ended abruptly. I was stunned for a few seconds; it seemed something had happened to Fatty Zhang.
I tried calling him back. The call connected, but no one answered.
It looked like something serious was indeed going on with Fatty Zhang. However, that sly guy should be fine.
At this point, I felt completely lost. I took a deep breath, feeling chaotic and disoriented. I pulled out a cigarette and lit it. Damn it, it was like I was cursed; how could I be facing so many issues?
It was just past eleven in the morning, and the sun was shining brightly outside, yet I sat there drenched in cold sweat.
The people involved at the funeral home had started to show their true colors, but the mystery remained unsolved. I wiped my cold sweat away when Gao Ling looked at me and asked, "Is it really that hot?"
I wasn't sweating from the heat; it was my restless heart that caused the cold sweat.
After sitting for a while, Gao Ling suggested, "Since you're feeling so hot, how about we go swimming?" I glanced at Gao Ling; I really wasn't in the mood for swimming, especially since I had injuries that made it inconvenient. I told her I wasn't going.
Gao Ling insisted, "Fei, you really need to relax. We're not just going for the swimming; you know what I mean—there will be plenty of beautiful women in swimsuits."
I looked at Gao Ling with his lecherous expression and replied, "You perverted virgin have such low aspirations."
Gao Ling cursed under his breath and said, "Virgin? I'm not a virgin!" I shot him a look, and he retorted, "Aren't you one too?"
"I'm not," I replied firmly.
Gao Ling fell silent for a moment but then smiled and said, "How about we go for a massage tonight?"
I thought for a moment; my body was indeed aching all over. "Alright then, just a simple massage," I agreed.
Time passed quickly, and by evening, Gao Ling and I went to the massage parlor. My intention was simply to get a massage. We were soon led into a room, where two young women entered to give us our massages.
During the massage, Gao Ling chatted away, asking, "Sister, are there any fun activities here?"
The woman quickly understood what Gao Ling meant and replied, "Yes! Do you want to play?"
Gao Ling chuckled and said, "Sister, it's my buddy who wants to play."
What? When did I say I wanted to play? I just came for a massage to relax.
The woman remarked that every man who comes for a massage is there to relax. As she pressed firmly on my thigh, I told her not to touch me inappropriately. She responded, "You're lucky."
At that moment, Gao Ling chimed in, "It's free; feel free to touch wherever."
I told Gao Ling to stop joking around.
It was just past eight in the evening when suddenly someone knocked and entered. However, after taking just a few steps, they collapsed onto the floor.
The two women immediately exclaimed, "Ah Hua, what's wrong with you?"
Gao Ling and I sat up as the women rushed to help Ah Hua. But in the next second, the woman who was assisting Ah Hua also fell to the ground.
