As the girl left, I pushed myself up with all my strength, wanting to get out of bed and see my surroundings. I couldn't reveal my identity just yet; I needed to understand what was happening here before I made any moves.
Before I could get off the bed, my body suddenly lurched downwards, losing balance and crashing to the floor. The pain made me grit my teeth.
Taking a deep breath, I struggled to get back up, using the nearby furniture for support until I managed to stand.
I stepped outside, but the blazing sun forced me to shut my eyes instantly; it was impossible to keep them open. The heat outside was overwhelming, like being in a massive furnace.
Reluctantly, I returned to bed to wait for Nuo Lie and her dad to come back.
By evening, Nuo Lie and her dad returned, both carrying a lot of game—wild rabbits.
Seeing that I could sit up made Nuo Lie very happy; she called out to her dad.
Nuo Lie's dad was a very dark-skinned man, contrasting sharply with Nuo Lie's appearance.
She set down the game and happily walked over to introduce me to her dad.
I politely greeted Nuo Lie's dad; after all, they were the ones who had rescued me.
Nuo Lie's dad was a very honest and kind man. He smiled at me and said there was no need for such formality. If it weren't for him finding and saving me, it would have been our fate—an arrangement by the gods.
His words surprised me slightly. Did they really believe in the gods here?
Seeing my astonishment, Nuo Lie explained that their Madness Realm was so powerful and beautiful because of the protection of the gods. She even mentioned that people from their realm had seen the gods.
The gods were said to be very beautiful celestial beings.
"Not long from now, there will be a Ritual event for the Celestial Deity," she told me. "You can join us then."
Her words piqued my interest. I must have come here for some reason, and if I wanted to return, I would need some kind of power. Perhaps the Celestial Deity she mentioned could help me; if I could meet her, maybe I could plead with her to send me back to my own world.
I nodded and said okay. This made her very happy, and she called out to her Dad to hurry and prepare some food, or else I might starve.
Noble Father was a very down-to-earth good man. Hearing Alie, he quickly grabbed a few wild rabbits he had hunted and rushed out of the house to get busy.
I felt a bit embarrassed; after all, Noble Father was my savior. How could I trouble them?
I followed Alie and said it wasn't necessary, but she insisted vehemently that I needed to be well-fed, or they would feel guilty.
I couldn't resist her enthusiasm and nodded. Suddenly, I recalled what had happened during the day and asked Alie why everything here was so strange. During the day, it felt like a furnace, and why was it that they could go out while I was stuck inside?
Upon hearing my question, Alie chuckled and said to wait a moment while she went to get something for me.
I nodded as she turned and left the house. After a while, I saw her return holding a white cloak.
She handed me the cloak and said, "Brother, this is for you."
I was taken aback, unsure of her intentions, and asked what it was for.
With a smile, she replied, "Brother, you don't know? This is our treasure from the Madness Realm. You have to wear it when you go out during the day because we have two suns; you must put it on to be able to walk outside."
Two suns.
I paused for a moment, looking at Alie in astonishment.
Noble nodded, her little head clearly having come up with something interesting. With her big eyes sparkling, she asked me, "Brother, I still don't know your name or anything about you. How did you come here?"
I was taken aback for a moment, my thoughts becoming complicated. Noble's innocent face made me lower my guard, but I still couldn't tell her the truth. If others found out, it would lead to unnecessary trouble.
I had no choice but to fabricate a story, saying I had come with an exploration team and accidentally got lost. I also told her my name.
"Can I call you Brother Wang Niu?" Noble said to me innocently.
I nodded and smiled, saying it was fine.
Noble was very happy and asked if I could get out of bed and walk. She wanted to take me to a place that was her secret base.
Seeing the excitement on Noble's face sparked my curiosity, so I nodded at her and gritted my teeth to get out of bed.
It seemed that she noticed I was struggling, so Noble kindly offered her support.
A warm feeling flowed through me as I smiled at her.
When we reached the door, I suddenly remembered something and stopped. "Noble, do we need to wear that cloak?"
Noble burst into laughter. "Brother Wang Niu, we don’t need it! The nights here are normal and very beautiful; it's really bright."
As we stepped outside, just as Noble had said, the night was incredibly bright, almost like daytime, but with a special feeling—romantic.
"Brother Wang Niu, isn't it beautiful here?" Noble exclaimed happily.
I looked at the happy expression on Buli's face, and my mood naturally lifted. I nodded and asked her about the mysterious base she mentioned.
Buli pointed with her hand, and I followed her gaze to see a mountaintop.
I asked if that was where it was located.
Buli nodded and confirmed it. I took a closer look and noticed that at the peak, the moon seemed very close, and that spot was the brightest in the surroundings. This sparked a deep curiosity in me about the place Buli had described.
I followed Buli up to the mountaintop, where the moon hung right in front of us.
It was incredibly beautiful, just like something I had seen on television.
“Brother Wang Niu, wait for me here,” Buli said.
I replied with an "okay," and Buli turned to run down the steep slope of the mountain. I felt a bit worried because the path she took was very steep.
After a while, there was no sign of Buli, which made me anxious. I decided to head in her direction.
When I looked down, it seemed bottomless and extremely steep. My heart skipped a beat—could it be that Buli had fallen?
Feeling panicked, I called out a few times into the abyss but heard no response from Buli, only my own echo.
If Noble Father found out that something had happened to Buli, he would be heartbroken.
Just as I was preparing to go down to search for Buli, I suddenly saw countless fireflies rising from the base of the mountain. In an instant, a magical scene unfolded before me; it was breathtakingly beautiful, like a fairyland. I found myself mesmerized by the sight.
At that moment, I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder, and I snapped back to reality, finding Buli standing behind me.
"Brother Wang Niu, isn't it beautiful?" Buli said excitedly.
"It's beautiful. But how did you get behind me just now?" I asked, puzzled.
Buli giggled and said mysteriously, "I won't tell you, Brother Wang Niu. Hurry up and make a wish! There's a rule when we’re not too crazy. These fireflies are messengers of the gods. If you make a wish to them, they will carry your wish to the gods, and the gods will help you fulfill it."
Looking at Buli's innocent face, I couldn't help but reach out and pat her forehead. "Sweetheart, this is just a lovely fairy tale. I know you're well-meaning."
Upon hearing my words, Buli's little face suddenly turned unhappy. She pouted and said, "Brother Wang Niu, this is real! The gods really do come. Before, my dad was injured, and I came here to make a wish to the fireflies. The next day, my dad was better. It must have been the fireflies that carried my wish to the gods!"
Buli's angry expression was incredibly cute. Seeing her so earnest, I couldn't bear to refuse her again and decided to make a wish to the fireflies.
At that moment, one of the fireflies closest to me turned red and flew toward the moon.
When Buli saw this scene, she jumped up excitedly and said to me, "Brother Wang Niu, did you see that? The firefly took your wish to the gods! Soon, your wish will come true!"
I smiled lightly but didn't hold much hope in my heart; after all, my wish was for the gods to come find me.
Buli and I sat there for a while before heading back to her home. As we walked back, I noticed that there wasn't a single person around us. In fact, there was only Buli's house nearby. It was quite strange; didn't Buli say this was a vast kingdom?
