"Please spare us, we understand now," the people present suddenly pleaded.
The Tree Sage showed no signs of mercy, and his aura intensified once again. My heart sank; if this continued, it would not end well for the Dumeng Princess, whose face was growing increasingly pale.
I quickly turned to the Tree Sage and said, "Immortal, since they have realized their mistakes, please retract your aura."
The Tree Sage glanced in the direction of the Dumeng Princess, seemingly understanding something. He nodded at me and withdrew his overwhelming presence.
"You must remember, he is your Spirit King. I do not care what thoughts you harbor; if you dare to defy me, it will mean death," the Tree Sage declared with authority.
Fear appeared on the faces of those present, and their gazes toward me became complicated. After that, the room fell into silence.
Each tribe's living quarters were separated to avoid conflicts between them. Unless there were special orders, wandering into another tribe's territory was against the rules here.
Since I still had matters to discuss with the Beast King, I chose to stay with the beast tribe, which made Luanling very upset.
I couldn't afford to think too much about that; after all, Ruoxi's situation was still very important to me.
I followed the beast tribe to their living area. As soon as we entered, the Beast King set up a barrier outside.
I was puzzled and asked the Beast King why he needed to set up another barrier when there was already one created by the Tree Sage.
The Beast King replied, "This is for safety. Although the barrier set by the Tree Sage is quite secure, if several tribes were to join forces to break through it, it could be possible. Therefore, Doll cannot be too cautious. Plus, now that you have been declared Spirit King by the Tree Sage, the hatred towards you and the beast tribe has deepened. So setting up an additional barrier is not a bad thing for us. Do you understand?"
I nodded. Just as I was about to ask something else, the Beast King looked at me with a complex expression, as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
"Beast King, feel free to ask whatever you want; it's alright," I said.
"Consort, no matter whether you become the Spirit King or not, please take good care of my Dumin. Although this child can be fierce, she has a kind heart, okay?" The Beast King's expression suddenly softened.
I paused for a moment and replied, "Alright."
The Beast King smiled kindly, and the Dumeng Princess approached, mumbling something under her breath with an unhappy look on her small face.
For some reason, seeing the Dumeng Princess like this made me feel amused; I never expected this little firecracker to have a vulnerable side.
"Father, I really dislike the Bird Tribe people! They are stealing my bathing pool!" the Dumeng Princess exclaimed.
"Stealing your bathing pool?" The Beast King was taken aback.
"Yes, come here." With that, the Dumeng Princess pulled the Beast King out of the barrier, and I followed them. After all, the Bird Tribe had some connection to me; it might be Luanling.
Once we exited the barrier, we found ourselves on a small path leading to a tranquil valley.
"Father, look! Those are the Bird Tribe people. If it weren't for the rules here, I would have already confronted them," the Dumeng Princess said angrily.
I couldn't help but chuckle softly, and immediately the Dumeng Princess turned her gaze towards me, glaring as she asked, "What are you laughing at?"
I cleared my throat and looked ahead. There were many separate pools in front of us, which puzzled me. With so many pools available, why was the Dumeng Princess fixated on the one used by the Bird Tribe?
"I just think you're a bit adorable. With all these pools around, why do you insist on arguing with the Bird Tribe over theirs?" I asked curiously.
The Dumeng Princess huffed and replied, "What do you know? The pool used by the Bird Tribe is infused with spiritual energy. If you soak in it for a few hours, your spiritual energy will increase!"
"I can't believe this," I said, looking at Dumeng Princess in surprise.
"Of course! Otherwise, why do you think I would argue with them?" Dumeng Princess replied.
This put me in a difficult position since Luanling was also in the pool. I couldn't just ask Luanling to get out, could I?
I turned to Beast King for help. He seemed to understand my thoughts and advised Dumeng Princess, "Alright, Dumin, stop causing trouble. This isn't the outside world. Besides, I forgot to mention that not long ago, we told the Wind Tribe that we are one family. If we start fighting among ourselves, it could lead to serious problems, especially since we have more important matters to discuss."
"Got it, Father. I won't cause any more trouble, don't worry," Dumeng Princess said with a seemingly obedient expression as she looked at Beast King.
"Okay, let's head back. We have important things to discuss," Beast King said.
"Sure." Just as we were about to leave, Luanling flew out of the pool and blocked my path.
"Brother Wang Niu, do you still want to be with them?" Luanling asked with a hint of distress in her voice.
I was taken aback and found myself at a loss for words. Dumeng Princess shot me a glare and stepped in front of me, coldly saying, "Don't act all pitiful. People who don't know any better might think we've mistreated you."
Luanling's small body trembled slightly, and her face turned pale, looking fragile.
"Alright, you can talk to Luanling. I'll have a word with her; you all go ahead," I said as I walked up to Luanling and gently patted her shoulder. To my surprise, Dumeng Princess glared at me fiercely before leaving.
Beast King sighed and said, "Don't blame Dumin; it's my fault for spoiling her."
I nodded in response as Beast King walked away. Finally, Luanling spoke up, "Brother Wang Niu, is it because of me that things have become awkward between you and Dumeng Princess? I'm sorry; I just worry too much about you."
Luanling's pitiful appearance immediately stirred a sense of guilt within me. I quickly said to her, "It's okay, don't blame yourself. It has nothing to do with you. Just hurry back to where your Bird Tribe lives; there are too many other tribespeople here, and they might not treat you well."
Luanling blinked and her little face brightened as she said, "Brother Wang Niu, are you concerned about me?"
I nodded, and Luanling became even more excited. "Brother Wang Niu, come with me; I'll take you to a special place."
Luanling took my hand and led me toward a certain direction.
As I looked around, I was stunned by the glowing scenery; I never expected to find such a dreamlike place here.
In front of us stood a large tree adorned with many red ribbons.
I was puzzled about why Luanling had brought me to this place.
"What is this place?" I asked Luanling.
"Brother Wang Niu, this is the Fate Tree, the root of the Tree Sage. It's said to be very powerful," Luanling replied happily.
I understood what Luanling meant and glanced around before saying, "Luanling, let's go; this place isn't suitable for us."
After saying that, I prepared to leave.
Luanling immediately grabbed my arm, looking anxious. "Brother Wang Niu, do you not want to be with me?"
As she spoke, her eyes filled with shimmering tears.
I sighed and glanced at the Fate Tree before turning to Luanling. "It's not that I don't want to be with you, Luanling. You should know that we are from different worlds. I have to go back."
Upon hearing this, Luanling immediately grew anxious and hugged me tightly. "Brother Wang Niu, I don't want you to go back. Can't you stay here?"
I gritted my teeth and pushed Luanling away, the image of Ruoxi flashing in my mind, deepening my guilt towards her.
"Brother Wang Niu, I really like you. Ever since I met you, I've liked you. Can't you give me a chance?" Luanling began to cry.
I felt a pang of guilt and sighed. "Luanling, you will meet your true other half someday. I'm really not the one for you. I have a wife, and I'm here because of her. Once I find her, I'll leave this place with her."
After saying that, I resolutely walked away and returned to the Beast Tribe's dwelling.
To my surprise, as soon as I stepped inside, Dumeng Princess came out and mockingly said, "So, did you finish your date with her? Aren't you supposed to love your wife? You're truly a heartless man."
I twitched at the corner of my mouth, feeling helpless. "I didn't go on a date with her; I just explained the situation."
Dumeng Princess glared at me but didn't say anything more as she walked back into her room. I found her quite strange.
After returning to my room and preparing to rest, there was a knock at the door. It seemed to be Beast King.
I hurried to open the door; it was late, so Beast King must have something important to discuss with me.
