As the old man's gaze collided with Wang Niu's, a strange sensation washed over him. For a moment, Wang Niu felt a shiver run through his heart; there was something undeniably peculiar about the old man, an inexplicable sense of eeriness.
The old man held his gaze for only a brief moment before turning away and leaving. Wang Niu couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off about this place. Suddenly, he recalled what Old Li had told him and hurried back to his room. By nightfall, he had cleaned up the room hastily, collapsing onto the bed, utterly exhausted.
Just then, a whooshing sound echoed from outside, reminiscent of wind. Confused, Wang Niu wondered how there could be wind when he hadn't felt any. He quickly got out of bed, but at that moment, a strange gust of wind slammed the door shut with a loud bang, startling him and sending a wave of unease coursing through him.
Growing cautious, Wang Niu approached the door carefully. As he leaned in to peek through the crack, a dark shadow darted past his line of sight, causing him to jump back and fall to the ground.
What was that?
Before he could gather his thoughts, the door in front of him creaked open eerily. The sound jolted him, and as the door swung wide open, his heart raced with anxiety. Yet when it fully opened, there was nothing there.
This was too strange. Wang Niu quickly stood up and locked the door behind him. With his back against it, he took a deep breath to calm himself when suddenly, silence enveloped the room again.
Then came a series of thuds at the door, as if someone were knocking. But he knew there had been no one around just moments ago. Panic surged within him; this could not be human.
Suddenly, he froze as a chill ran down his spine. A wave of panic washed over him as he realized something was terribly wrong.
He felt someone touching his back. Although there was a panel separating him from the door outside, he could clearly sense that very real touch.
His scalp tingled, and he instinctively moved away from the door behind him, making his way to the large bed.
The eerie situation did not dissipate. After a while, the door emitted a series of loud banging sounds. Wang Niu frowned, watching as the door was struck with a resounding thud. A wave of anxiety washed over him; if this continued, the door might be broken down. What would happen then with the demon outside?
In that moment, Wang Niu's mind became chaotic. What was he supposed to do?
Just then, the commotion suddenly ceased. Instantly, everything around him fell into an unsettling silence, which only heightened Wang Niu's unease. This was often the most terrifying time.
He did not approach the front door immediately; instead, after a long while, he slowly got off the bed. Yet, concerns lingered in his mind, fearing some dreadful accident might occur.
He moved cautiously, almost tiptoeing.
Reaching the doorway, he carefully peered through the crack to look outside. The corridor beyond was empty, which instantly calmed Wang Niu's heart.
He saw that the night outside was very quiet and seemed safe.
Aside from what he had just discovered, everything appeared fine. But once strange events began to unfold, they rarely stopped.
Just as he was about to withdraw his gaze, a bloody eyeball suddenly appeared right in front of him.
Wang Niu froze for a moment before realizing what it was and couldn't help but scream loudly.
The call directly affected the bloody Eyeball, which seemed to go insane, continuously banging against the door and producing strange sounds.
Wang Niu could no longer tolerate this bizarre phenomenon. He threw himself onto the bed, burying his head under the blanket, forcing himself to fall asleep quickly. Yet, the fear still occupied his entire mind.
Time passed, though he couldn't tell how long it had been; the noise persisted, driving Wang Niu to the brink of madness.
Finally, just as he drifted off to sleep, the sound ceased.
The next day, he was jolted awake by a knock on the door. He opened his eyes to hear Lao Li's voice coming from outside.
Wang Niu hurriedly got out of bed and opened the door for Lao Li.
Seeing Wang Niu's disheveled appearance, Lao Li asked him what was wrong.
Wang Niu recalled the strange events of the previous night and said to Lao Li, "Last night, I encountered something eerie."
Upon hearing this, Lao Li's expression remained unchanged; he looked as calm as ever, as if it were an everyday occurrence. Wang Niu found it odd and wondered if Lao Li's demeanor was too nonchalant.
Noticing that Lao Li didn't respond, he couldn't help but ask, "Master Lao Li, don't you think this place is incredibly strange?"
Seeing Wang Niu's troubled expression, Lao Li explained, "This is quite normal. You know we deal with Demons."
