The woman looked at Wang Niu with a strange expression, as if she were surprised.
Wang Niu nodded and said, "Yes, it was Ling'er who said she would help me find Uncle Chen. She was looking for him even before she rescued you."
Upon hearing this, the woman felt a bit awkward. She smiled, as if she had something to say to Wang Niu.
Wang Niu looked at her curiously and asked, "Do you have something you want to tell me?"
The woman nodded and replied, "I think she might be lying to you. Uncle Chen is far from here. If she really went to find him, she wouldn't have returned so quickly unless she was deceiving you."
Wang Niu was taken aback by her words. Could it be that the woman was indeed lying to him?
He paused for a moment, unsure of what to say. The woman glanced at him and said, "Well, that's not important anymore. If you want to find Uncle Chen, you need to ask the Earth Immortal."
Wang Niu was puzzled; he had no idea what the Earth Immortal was.
He looked at the woman and asked, "What is the Earth Immortal?"
The woman seemed surprised by his question and after a moment, she said, "You don't even know about the Earth Immortal?"
Wang Niu shook his head and replied, "I don't know."
The woman sighed and muttered to herself, "It seems that the energy of this reincarnation is indeed powerful; it has completely washed away your memories from your past life."
Her voice was soft but Wang Niu caught every word. He was stunned—his past life?
Why would she say that? Did he really have a past life?
Wang Niu glanced at the woman, wanting to ask her about what she had just said. But then he remembered her previous remarks and decided it might be best to wait until she revealed it naturally.
He closed his mouth, and then the woman pulled out a large compass from somewhere.
"Extend your hand," the woman said to Wang Niu.
Wang Niu paused for a moment before stretching out his hand.
What did she want him to do?
He looked at the woman with confusion.
"This is the key to finding Uncle Chen," she explained.
Upon hearing this, Wang Niu immediately extended his hand. The woman quickly pulled out a knife from behind her and made a swift cut across Wang Niu's palm, causing him to shut his eyes in an instant, a look of pain crossing his face.
"Are you okay?" The woman watched Wang Niu's expression with deep concern.
Wang Niu shook his head. "I'm fine, go on."
Reluctantly, the woman nodded and continued her actions. She made another cut on Wang Niu's hand, and immediately furrowed her brows as two deep gashes appeared, blood oozing from them. The blood dripped onto the compass, staining it red in no time.
Wang Niu was startled by the sight, and the woman quickly began to bandage his wounds.
"Are you alright?" she asked, her gaze filled with worry for him.
Wang Niu nodded and turned around in front of her, indicating that he was fine.
The woman then focused her attention on the compass in her hand. Now that it was stained with blood, it served as a lead to find Uncle Chen.
Next, she placed her hand on the center of the compass and suddenly began to chant softly. Her lips moved as if reciting some incantation.
Wang Niu watched her curiously as tendrils of black mist appeared around her hand, enveloping both her hand and the entire compass in an instant.
Suddenly, the woman's expression changed to one of fear.
Wang Niu felt a pang of worry in his heart; if something happened to her, he would feel guilty about it.
"Are you okay?" Wang Niu asked, looking at the woman with concern.
The woman snapped back to reality upon hearing Wang Niu's words. She turned to him, smiled, and shook her head. "I'm fine, don't worry. It's just that activating the compass requires a lot of energy, and my body is still recovering, that's all."
Even though the woman reassured Wang Niu, he couldn't help but feel worried about her.
Suddenly, Wang Niu's attention was drawn to the light emanating from the compass. As he watched, the black mist on the compass vanished.
This surprised Wang Niu. After the light dispersed, a blood-red pointer appeared on the compass, looking very eerie.
The woman glanced at it and then took out the compass, pointing it around. Instantly, the pointer on the compass began to spin rapidly.
After a while, the pointer finally came to a stop.
"Where is it?"
The woman lowered the pointer and raised her hand to indicate a spot in front of them.
Wang Niu followed her gaze, understanding that she meant where Uncle Chen was.
"Is that where Uncle Chen is?" Wang Niu asked the woman.
She nodded and glanced at the compass again before saying to Wang Niu, "Yes, that's what the compass indicates."
Upon hearing this, Wang Niu was instantly astonished. If that was the case, they could find Uncle Chen in time.
"Then let's hurry and look for Uncle Chen!" Wang Niu exclaimed as he grabbed the woman's hand. She nodded and followed him as they left the place.
After they departed, Ling Er stepped out, her eyes flashing with a hint of ferocity.
As they continued following the compass, the woman suddenly stopped for some reason. Wang Niu paused in surprise and asked her what was wrong.
The woman's expression turned serious as she scanned their surroundings. After a moment, she looked at Wang Niu and said, "Someone is following us."
As soon as the woman's words fell, a shadow flashed past Wang Niu's face.
"What should we do?" He felt a murderous aura from the shadow that had just darted by, sensing an imminent danger. Were they truly caught in a perilous situation?
The woman glanced at Wang Niu and said, "Don't worry, this is just a minor issue that I can handle." After she spoke, a Demon suddenly emerged from nowhere, charging toward them from behind. The woman sensed it as it approached, and her reflexes were incredibly quick. She placed her hand in front of Wang Niu just as the Demon lunged at them. Wang Niu's heart raced; he thought the Demon would harm him, but to his surprise, the woman subdued it.
In less than a moment, the Demon vanished.
Wang Niu let out a sigh of relief and said to the woman, "Thank you so much! If it weren't for you, I would have been killed by that Demon."
The woman smiled at Wang Niu but said nothing in response.
Then, she heard a strange sound that made her face turn even paler. This sound seemed to envelop the entire area. What had once been quiet suddenly became unsettling.
All around them, an eerie chorus of bird calls erupted.
The sounds sent shivers down Wang Niu's spine; they were anything but normal.
"We need to be careful," the woman's voice reached Wang Niu's ears.
Wang Niu froze for a moment, turning his gaze toward her. He noticed her face was extremely pale, which made him uneasy. It seemed he realized something and asked her, "Is something coming?"
The woman nodded in response.
This made Wang Niu gasp; what could be following them?
At that moment, a very strange noise echoed nearby. The woman suddenly looked enlightened and pulled Wang Niu behind a large tree. A thin veil of black mist began to envelop them.
Wang Niu was taken aback and looked at the woman with confusion. She explained, "This is to protect us; there's no need to worry."
With her reassurance, Wang Niu relaxed slightly and asked, "But what exactly is coming?"
The woman glanced at him and replied, "Feast Ghosts are troublesome Demons. Once entangled with these Demons, it becomes quite problematic. Moreover, someone has deliberately sent these Demons after us."
Wang Niu stared at the woman in surprise. Her earlier words suggested that someone was investigating the Demon following them. Could it be Ling'er?
As long as Ling'er was in the same place as them, it made sense. However, what puzzled him was why Ling'er would do such a thing.
The woman, appearing dazed, gently nudged Wang Niu. "What are you thinking about?"
Wang Niu smiled awkwardly and shook his head at the woman. "It's nothing. I just find something very strange."
The woman looked at Wang Niu with curiosity. "What are you talking about?"
"Why do you think Ling'er would act this way?" Wang Niu asked, looking at her with intrigue.
The woman shook her head and remained silent. At that moment, a series of clattering sounds reached their ears, causing Wang Niu to pause for a moment. He then turned his gaze toward the approaching Demons.
It was indeed strange; these Demons looked quite different from ordinary ones, resembling humans more than anything else.
"Are these the Feast Ghosts you mentioned earlier?" Wang Niu asked the woman curiously.
She nodded in response.
