Wang Niu swiftly and decisively plunged his sword into the body of the Yin Bai Gui.
In an instant, the Yin Bai Gui let out a mournful scream that sent a shiver down Xiaomei's spine. Within moments, the creature vanished.
Wang Niu sighed in relief, sheathing his sword. He walked over to Xiaomei and spoke gently, "Xiaomei, are you alright? That Yin Bai Gui didn't harm you, did it?"
Xiaomei looked at Wang Niu and smiled, assuring him she was fine.
But the next moment, her expression turned somber. She said to Wang Niu, "Heavenly Emperor, what should we do? Feng Ju and the Queen of Heaven have both disappeared."
Xiaomei's words weighed heavily on Wang Niu's heart. He fell silent for a moment, which caused a look of guilt to cross Xiaomei's face. She said to him, "Heavenly Emperor, I'm sorry. It's because of us that the Queen of Heaven is in trouble."
Wang Niu sighed but remained silent. Just then, the sky darkened. He turned to Xiaomei and said, "We should find a place to rest; it's getting late, and it wouldn't be good if something happened."
Xiaomei seemed to agree with Wang Niu's reasoning and nodded in response.
The two made their way to an abandoned villa surrounded by an eerie stillness that unsettled Xiaomei.
She looked at Wang Niu and asked, "Heavenly Emperor, don't you feel that something is off here?"
Wang Niu nodded in acknowledgment and gazed at the small village ahead. He replied, "This place is filled with death energy; we need to be cautious."
Xiaomei was taken aback by his words, staring at him in disbelief. "How can there be death energy here?"
Wang Niu's gaze sharpened as he explained, "Because everyone here has had their essence absorbed; they died not long ago."
As soon as Wang Niu finished speaking, Xiaomei gasped in shock. "Heavenly Emperor, what are you saying?"
Wang Niu saw Xiaomei's incredulous expression and said to her, "Just go inside and you'll understand."
Xiaomei paused for a moment before stepping inside. However, upon seeing the blood-soaked ground, she froze in disbelief. Wang Niu entered shortly after and looked at Xiaomei, who said, "Heavenly Emperor, what happened? It seems these people haven't been dead for long." There was a hint of panic in Xiaomei's voice. Wang Niu replied calmly, "These are the doing of the Ghost Gate Cult. They need a large amount of vital energy, so they targeted the people in this village."
Upon hearing Wang Niu's words, Xiaomei furrowed her brows and asked, "What should we do?"
Wang Niu's expression grew more serious as she said to Xiaomei, "This situation is quite difficult. So many people died in just one day, and this village is filled with resentment. If this resentment continues to linger, it could lead to trouble."
Xiaomei understood the gravity of the situation and nodded at Wang Niu. "I understand, Heavenly Emperor. I'll take care of it."
Wang Niu nodded in agreement; after all, Xiaomei was a powerful figure in the Underworld.
This reassured Wang Niu greatly.
Then, Xiaomei approached Wang Niu and took out a black shadowy mirror that looked somewhat frightening.
Wang Niu recognized the mirror. Although she was surprised, she still asked Xiaomei, "Is this the Soul-collecting Mirror?"
Xiaomei nodded, warmth spreading across her face as if she felt a sense of happiness. Her lips curled into a slight smile as she said to Wang Niu, "This was given to me by Feng Ju. Previously, I went with Feng Ju to collect souls, but capturing them one by one was too exhausting. Seeing me struggle, Feng Ju handed me this mirror."
Wang Niu nodded at Xiaomei. Then, Xiaomei's lips moved slightly, and from the black mirror burst forth a beam of light that sucked away all the lingering spirits in the village.
In an instant, the sky over the village darkened abruptly. Wang Niu was taken aback but quickly realized it was normal since Xiaomei had just used that mirror to dispel Yin Qi.
After a long while, the village gradually returned to normal.
Xiaomei placed the mirror back inside and turned to look at Wang Niu. She smiled and said, "Heavenly Emperor, this matter has finally been resolved."
Wang Niu sighed and set up a barrier in the house once again.
Some beggars looked at Wang Niu and asked, "Heavenly Emperor, what are you doing?"
Upon hearing Xiaomei's words, Wang Niu did not answer directly. Instead, he glanced at Xiaomei and said, "I am setting up a barrier because we will be staying here today, and the area is not safe."
Xiaomei looked at him in surprise, as if she wanted to say something but held back. She nodded at Wang Niu and said, "Okay."
After a while, Wang Niu suddenly took out two bowls, which puzzled Xiaomei. She walked over to him, squatted down beside him, and asked, "Heavenly Emperor, what are you doing?"
Wang Niu raised his head and focused on her finger. He instructed her, "Xiaomei, put your blood into this bowl."
Xiaomei was taken aback and didn't quite understand Wang Niu's intention. Nevertheless, she placed her finger over the small bowl and drew some blood.
She furrowed her brows slightly, a hint of pain flashing across her face.
Wang Niu took a deep breath and also drew blood from his own finger. Ruoxi watched in confusion and asked, "Heavenly Emperor, what are you doing?"
Wang Niu frowned and explained to Xiaomei, "I need to find Ruoxi and Feng Ju. Our blood can sense their location so that we can know where they are."
Upon hearing this, Xiaomei immediately understood. She nodded at Wang Niu and then quietly waited for the result.
As their blood mixed with the water, a wisp of black mist suddenly appeared in the liquid. In no time, the mist enveloped the water completely. Xiaomei's eyes widened in astonishment. Just as she was about to ask Wang Niu what was happening, he looked at her and said, "This is in the Underground Palace."
Xiaomei paused for a moment and asked in confusion, "Heavenly Emperor, what is the Imperial Palace?"
Wang Niu explained it to her. After listening, Xiaomei replied, "Heavenly Emperor, I think if we go like this, we will be even more in danger and won't be able to rescue the Queen of Heaven and Feng Ju."
Wang Niu also felt that what Xiaomei said made sense, so he nodded in agreement.
"I know of a small path that leads directly to the Imperial Palace, and it's rarely used," Xiaomei suddenly said.
This immediately energized Wang Niu. He turned to Xiaomei and asked, "Where is it?"
Xiaomei's expression was somewhat complicated as she looked at Wang Niu and said, "Do you know about the Yin River?"
Wang Niu was taken aback by Xiaomei's words. Wasn't the Yin River a river in the Underworld? It was filled with countless restless souls, each carrying immense resentment.
"Are you saying we have to go through the Yin River to reach the Imperial Palace?" Wang Niu's tone was uncertain.
Xiaomei nodded and confirmed, which made Wang Niu's heart grow heavy. He said, "Although the Yin River is dangerous, this is the only way we can quickly rescue them."
As she spoke halfway, Xiaomei suddenly fell silent. This left Wang Niu stunned. Seeing that Xiaomei had stopped talking, he grew anxious and asked, "What's wrong?"
Xiaomei took a deep breath, raised her head, and looked at Wang Niu again. "Also, my child is in the Yin River."
Wang Niu paused for a moment upon hearing this. He remembered that Xiaomei's child had not been rescued yet. But how did Xiaomei know her child was in the Yin River? Could it be a motherly instinct?
"Heavenly Emperor," at that moment, Xiaomei's eyes suddenly turned slightly red, which made Wang Niu's heart ache.
Wang Niu nodded and took Xiaomei's hand as they walked out of the room. "I understand how you feel. Since you're worried, let's hurry."
Xiaomei was taken aback for a moment, her eyes filled with gratitude. She repeatedly thanked Wang Niu, saying, "Heavenly Emperor, thank you! If it weren't for you, I really wouldn't know what to do."
Wang Niu smiled as they left the place, unaware that behind them, the small village had suddenly transformed into a terrifying place.
It was like a massive black hole; if they had delayed even a moment longer, they might have been trapped there.
Wang Niu looked at Xiaomei in confusion; he didn't understand why she kept glancing back.
"Xiaomei, what's wrong?" he couldn't help but ask.
Xiaomei's expression was strange as she replied, "Heavenly Emperor, I just feel something is off."
Wang Niu looked at her curiously. After she said this, Xiaomei deliberately glanced back again, intensifying his curiosity. Was there something behind them?
Then Wang Niu turned to look back as well but froze for just a moment. However, within seconds he quickly turned back around. It seemed Xiaomei sensed something too and wanted to look back.
But before she could turn around, Wang Niu stopped her. He signaled to Xiaomei not to look back. Although Xiaomei felt puzzled inside, she complied.
It wasn't until they had walked for quite some time that Wang Niu finally spoke up. "There were Demons following us just now. If we had acted earlier, it would have attracted many more Demons, which would be detrimental to us."
Xiaomei was momentarily stunned after hearing Wang Niu's words, feeling a bit confused. She said to Wang Niu, "But we are not afraid of those Demons."
Wang Niu shook his head and replied to Xiaomei, "No, you don't understand. Those Demons are the Soul Eaters from that territory we just passed through. These Soul Eaters are different from other Demons. If they discover that we are not ordinary humans, they will cling to us and continuously drain our energy. If our energy is drained, it would be a very bad situation."
Upon hearing Wang Niu's words, Xiaomei was taken aback, seemingly filled with trepidation.
"Heavenly Emperor, are those things still behind us?" she asked.
Wang Niu shook his head as the two of them walked toward the Underworld. Just then, a swirling mass of red smoke suddenly appeared in front of them.
This left Xiaomei and Wang Niu momentarily stunned. With a look of astonishment, Xiaomei turned to Wang Niu and asked, "Heavenly Emperor, what is that?"
Wang Niu immediately pulled Ruoxi aside and said, "That is a Monster's wedding."
Xiaomei was even more surprised, her gaze fixed on the growing mass of smoke ahead, which made her increasingly uneasy.
She nudged Wang Niu and said, "Heavenly Emperor, that can't possibly be a Monster."
Wang Niu looked in the direction Ruoxi pointed and saw a man appearing just above the Monsters.
The man was fair-skinned, which left Wang Niu momentarily speechless. This was indeed not a Monster but a human.
Wang Niu's brow furrowed in confusion. What was going on? Had the Monsters forcibly captured a human?
His gaze remained fixed on the human figure, who seemed somewhat dazed. This left Wang Niu in disbelief as he stared ahead.
Xiaomei noticed the look in Wang Niu's eyes and hesitated for a moment, uncertain. She asked him, "Heavenly Emperor, what is wrong with you?"
"Wang Niu" shook his head at "Xiaomei" and said, "That is a person, and that person has been ensnared by the 'Monster' with a soul-binding spell."
"Xiaomei" was instantly stunned, looking at "Wang Niu" in disbelief. "Heavenly Emperor, are you saying that person has been bewitched by those 'Monsters'?"
"Wang Niu" nodded. Suddenly, the 'Yin Kin Team' of the 'Monsters' advanced closer, causing "Xiaomei" to feel increasingly anxious. He looked at "Wang Niu," seemingly waiting for his command. "Wang Niu" understood "Xiaomei's" intent and said, "Don't move yet; let's see what these creatures are doing."
"Xiaomei" nodded. After the 'Yin Kin Team' of the 'Monsters' passed, he noticed a heavy aura surrounding them. This made "Xiaomei" shiver, unable to believe it. If she were an ordinary person, she might have been enchanted by this aura. In an instant, "Xiaomei" seemed to realize something and said to "Wang Niu," "Heavenly Emperor, I understand now; it's this aura."
"Wang Niu" nodded in agreement. "You're right; it's this aura that compels us to follow them. There might be more men in the lair of those 'Demons.' If all these men die, it would lead to chaos in the human realm."
"Xiaomei" also recognized the seriousness of the situation and nodded at "Wang Niu." "Heavenly Emperor, let's hurry and rescue those people."
"Wang Niu" agreed and followed "Xiaomei," trailing behind the 'Monsters.'
They soon arrived at a cave filled with a chilling atmosphere. Upon entering the cave, the man was immediately frozen into a stupor.
The man's body was covered in dark blue patches. "Xiaomei" paused for a moment, confused, and looked at those patches before saying to "Wang Niu," "Heavenly Emperor, what is that?"
"Wang Niu" had also noticed the changes in the man. His expression turned sharp as he replied to "Ruoxi," "That is the essence being drained from him."
"Xiaomei's" heart sank at once as he looked at "Wang Niu" in disbelief. Suddenly, dark blue patches spread rapidly across the man's body, leaving "Xiaomei" dumbfounded. At this rate, the man would surely die.
"Heavenly Emperor, we must save that man!" The urgency was evident in "Xiaomei's" voice.
This made "Wang Niu's" expression grow even more serious. After a moment of contemplation, he seemed to come up with an idea and discreetly sent a sliver of divine energy toward the man. The energy flew over and entered his body, causing the man's complexion to improve slightly while one of the dark patches vanished.
This made "Xiaomei" take a deep breath. Just then, a mass of black mist appeared around the man, enveloping him entirely. This left "Xiaomei" momentarily stunned as he watched in confusion. After a while, a pile of white bones appeared on the ground beside him, causing "Xiaomei" to lose his composure completely.
"Heavenly Emperor, what happened to that man?" Xiaomei's voice was filled with fear. They had just witnessed a man disappear right before their eyes.
Xiaomei took a deep breath, and at that moment, the Monsters turned around. Wang Niu's heart sank as he sensed something bad was about to happen, so he immediately took Xiaomei away from there.
However, Wang Niu did not expect that these Demons would be so bold as to chase after them.
Xiaomei panicked and said to Wang Niu, "Heavenly Emperor, it's bad! The Monsters are catching up!"
Wang Niu frowned and replied to Xiaomei, "Don't worry. Even if they catch up to us, they won't do anything."
Just as he finished speaking, something quickly surrounded them.
This made Wang Niu furrow his brow. At that moment, Xiaomei seemed to sense something and immediately struck out behind her, only to find a terrifying Ghost Hand appearing behind them.
Wang Niu's heart skipped a beat as he quickly dispelled the Ghost Hand.
At that moment, a woman's voice reached their ears.
"Hehe, who are you really?"
Wang Niu was instantly stunned; that voice sounded so familiar.
Xiaomei had the same expression as Wang Niu, but when she turned around and saw the owner of the voice, her expression changed to one of astonishment.
"She is the Queen of Heaven," Xiaomei exclaimed in surprise.
But Wang Niu shook his head and said, "No, she is not the Queen of Heaven."
Although the creature before them looked exactly like Ruoxi, Wang Niu's heart could accurately confirm that it was not Ruoxi.
The Monster standing in front of them had heard their conversation and suddenly broke into a strange smile, which made both Ruoxi and Wang Niu feel uneasy.
Suddenly, the Monsters began to approach Wang Niu step by step, their expressions bizarre, causing Xiaomei to feel an unsettling sensation in her heart.
Xiaomei immediately rushed in front of Wang Niu to block the Monster.
The Monster's gaze fixed on Xiaomei, its tone turning cold. "Do you think you can stop me like this?"
Before Xiaomei could react, she felt her body being forcefully pushed back, hurtling toward a large tree. Just as Xiaomei was about to crash into the tree, Wang Niu intervened and stopped her.
"My people are not for you to touch," Wang Niu said fiercely, his entire being radiating a chilling aura.
The woman was startled by this coldness. At that moment, the Monster suddenly charged at Wang Niu with a fierce expression.
Wang Niu remained completely still, causing Xiaomei's heart to skip a beat. She originally intended to help Wang Niu block the attack, but for some reason, her body felt paralyzed and unresponsive.
A hint of panic appeared in Xiaomei's eyes, but when she saw the confidence in Wang Niu's gaze, she immediately understood.
"Don't worry," Wang Niu silently reassured Xiaomei.
Seeing Wang Niu's self-assured demeanor calmed Xiaomei down.
Just as the attack was about to reach Wang Niu, a burst of light erupted from him, slicing the Monster's body in half. The Monster let out a surprised cry, pain etched across its face.
Wang Niu's lips curled into a slight smile; in just a moment, the light emanating from him had torn through the Monster's form.
The Monster's face contorted in agony, leaving Xiaomei utterly bewildered. Moments later, astonishment appeared on Xiaomei's face.
