In the study of the Jin Mansion, Jono sat across the table from Jin Chengyan, two documents laid out before them.
After the phone call earlier, Jin Chengyan had brought her here.
Just as she was about to pick up the pen, Jin Chengyan spoke up, "Once you sign this, there will be no turning back."
It was amusing how he had insisted she sign a few days ago, and now he was trying to stop her just as she was ready to do so.
Jono held onto the document firmly. "I never thought about regretting coming here." She understood that what Jin Chengyan was doing for her came with expectations. Since she had nothing else to offer in return, she would repay him with four years of her youth; that seemed fair enough.
With swift movements, she signed her name on both documents.
He took the documents and signed his name as well.
"I will have these notarized and return them to you in a couple of days," Jin Chengyan said with a smile. "Your father's treatment will be arranged immediately, so you don't need to worry. As for the debts, I will only take on part of them; you can manage the Qiao Family on your own."
It seemed that Jin Chengyan had already made all the necessary preparations and was simply waiting for Jono's agreement before instructing his subordinates to take action.
However...
"I can manage the Qiao Family myself? The Qiao Family is already bankrupt..." Jono looked at Jin Chengyan in disbelief. She only knew that after applying for bankruptcy, the Qiao Family had been sold off by the bank. As for the buyer, she had no idea. Now hearing Jin Chengyan say this, it meant he must have purchased it?
He nodded, confirming Jono's suspicion.
However, after receiving affirmation, Jono felt a chill run down her spine. "If I ultimately refuse to sign this agreement with you, what will you do about the Qiao Family?"
Businesspeople never engage in ventures that do not yield profit, and Jin Chengyan, a man who had risen to his position through ruthless means, was no exception. His family background was one thing; his methods of operation were another.
Jin Chengyan cast a deep glance at Jono but did not answer her question.
"However, if the company's situation does not change within the stipulated time, it cannot escape the fate of being shut down." He was a dictatorial executor; with just a few words, he determined her fate and that of what she cared about.
"I will definitely achieve results that maximize your benefits from this deal." At this point, Jono couldn't help but wonder why Jin Chengyan needed this marriage agreement. "Can I ask you a question?"
"You want to know why I need a married identity, right?"
Jono's expression revealed that she felt seen; could she not have any secrets in front of him? She nodded, realizing there was no need to beat around the bush since he had already figured it out.
Jin Chengyan's lips curled into a slight smile, a playful expression crossing his face. "Guess."
"……Are you joking with me?" Jin Chengyan? "I should go check on my father at the hospital first and come back here tomorrow."
But just as she took two steps out, Jin Chengyan suddenly spoke up. "Miss Qiao, there's something I want to say now to avoid trouble later."
Jono turned back, waiting for his words. The way he addressed her as "Miss Qiao" made her feel as if they were meeting for the first time.
"Four years is neither long nor short; we have spent quite some time together. I hope Miss Qiao understands her feelings and realizes that what we have is merely an agreement. Don't get too emotionally involved." The implication was clear: Jono must not develop feelings for Jin Chengyan; otherwise, she would be the one to get hurt in the end!
This was completely opposite to the previous Jin Chengyan.
He had many facets, and at least now Jono saw many different sides of Jin Chengyan.
This man was very dangerous.
“Mr. Jin, you are overthinking,” she said with a charming smile.
Although Jin Chengyan was indeed exceptional, Jono felt that she would not fall in love with someone who treated marriage as a game.
“I hope so,” Jin Chengyan said meaningfully.
At that moment, in such circumstances, Jono firmly believed she would not fall in love with Jin Chengyan.
