Jono returned home feeling particularly joyful. If only her father showed signs of waking up, she would be even happier!
To her surprise, Jin Chengyan was also there. His visits to Jin Mansion were irregular; sometimes he would come for two or three consecutive days when he was in a good mood, but when busy, he might not show up for a week.
Today, after leaving the hospital, she had gone to the supermarket and bought a variety of groceries. She had initially planned to have dinner with Huo Yawen, but he had been called away for surgery. No matter; there would be plenty of time in the future!

“Then I’ll go cook! Just wait for your meal!”
This time, Jin Chengyan truly focused on her words. The former Miss Qiao cooking? Surely she wouldn’t whip up something disastrous!
He had been here more than ten times, but it was the first time he saw Jono cooking. What if she burned down the kitchen?
"Don't look at me with that doubtful expression. Before I planned to become an architect, my dream was to be a chef!" It was just that her family went bankrupt; rather than saying she rarely cooked, it was more accurate to say she didn't have a kitchen to cook in.
Later, after moving to Jin Mansion, with so many things going on, she preferred to pack food to eat, saving time.
"If your father knew you had this aspiration, he'd probably faint from shock." As soon as Jin Chengyan said it, he felt it was inappropriate, but seeing Jono's expression, there seemed to be nothing wrong; instead, he felt a strange excitement.
Jono didn't feel sad when she heard Jin Chengyan mention her father; things were getting better, and she couldn't afford to be pessimistic.
"Just wait and see!" Jono cheerfully ran into the kitchen, tied on an apron, and began preparing dinner for the night.
At some point, Jin Chengyan had already walked into the kitchen and leaned against the doorframe, watching Jono skillfully wash and chop vegetables. In that moment, it felt almost surreal.
Jono looked up and saw Jin Chengyan. Perhaps because she was in such a good mood today, she playfully said to him, "I signed a letter of intent with a company today! I'm about to sell eighty apartments! They have no reason to kick me out anymore!"
As she spoke, there was a joy of victory in her voice mixed with a hint of pride. Although it was Huo Yawen who helped her, she had achieved her goal and informed Jin Chengyan that there were no obstacles for her at the company!
Jin Chengyan remained silent but slightly raised the corners of his mouth. So this was why she was so happy today!
That kid from Yan'an City was quite quick in his actions!
"And you know what? I also ran into an older brother who lived next door when I was a child. I used to play with him all the time. But later his family immigrated, and my father's business grew bigger, so we moved away from there. Do you know how happy it is to reunite with childhood friends?" She had no one to confide in, and since Jin Chengyan was standing at the door, she didn't know how much he was actually listening; she just kept talking.
"Next door... Brother?" Jin Chengyan said with a hint of meaning in those two words, "Childhood sweethearts, huh!"
Jono did not look up, so he missed the peculiar expression that flashed across Jin Chengyan's face.
