In the bustling world of business, Jin Chengyan had encountered all types of women over the years—some fiery, others pure. Each one seemed to adapt themselves to his preferences.
However, when faced with Jono's playful demeanor, Jin Chengyan felt a jolt in his heart. The organ that had lain dormant for years suddenly ignited with warmth in that fleeting moment.
He quickly composed himself.
He rationalized that it was a normal reaction for any man confronted with a woman like Jono.
If he had previously faced a woman he liked who offered little response, Jono's myriad expressions would naturally stir something within him.
"Why didn't you return to Jin Mansion yesterday?" Jin Chengyan asked, trying to steady his emotions. His inner thoughts were something Jono could not perceive.
Jono recalled the events of the previous night. Without delving into what had transpired after she lost consciousness, it was best not to share those details with Jin Chengyan.
"I worked late yesterday and didn’t go home. You don’t go back every day either!" Jono replied.
"You think we’re a real couple who needs to return home every day?"
Jono was left speechless by his bluntness.
"Alright, you've inspected enough. I need to get to work now, so feel free to do as you please!" Jono thought about how much work she still had left undone, only to be pulled away by Jin Chengyan for a tour of the company. Her boss certainly had a casual approach.
She finished speaking and left with her documents.
When she returned after signing the papers, she noticed that everyone in the sales department was looking at her, while Wang Jue, who was sorting through her personal belongings, was crying like a wilted flower.
Jono felt a bit confused. Could it be that Wang Jue's eyes were really bad, and she was now crying?
Seeing Jono's bewildered expression only made Wang Jue angrier. She believed it was all Jono's fault that she lost her job. As she tossed her things into a cardboard box, she said, "Some people... even if their family goes bankrupt, still rely on their seductive skills. We who rely on our own abilities can't please our bosses and are even schemed against by petty people. You all should be careful not to get tripped up by others."
With those words, Jono became the target of everyone's attention. However, she felt utterly baffled. What had she done to deserve such accusations?
She immediately put down her documents and walked over to confront Wang Jue.
"Clarify your words! How did I frame you? I just stepped out to get some tea, and when I came back, you were gone! I had no idea what happened!"
"Wasn't it you at the elevator door with Mr. Jin? Weren't you fawning over him while showing him around the company? You even know that Mr. Jin doesn't drink coffee. It seems you've done quite a bit of investigating on him! You work at Jin Architecture just to have a chance to hook up with Mr. Jin and become a Young Lady again!"
The truth had been twisted so much that Jono thought Wang Jue should not be in sales; she should be writing instead!
"Everyone here knows who is really trying to seduce Mr. Jin. Do you think we're blind to the tactics you use to boost your performance? A fallen phoenix is still better than a chicken, but I am still a phoenix; you don't even qualify as a chicken!"

Jono took a deep breath; it seemed like all the troublesome matters were piling up!
Fortunately, Huo Yawen sent a text inviting her to dinner that evening. They could reconnect, after all, it had been years since they last met. Jono agreed.
