As the car came to a stop, Jono realized they were not at Jin Mansion.
"Why did you bring me here?" Jono asked, aware that this was a high-end club with various sports activities inside.
"To compete with me." With that, Jin Chengyan got out of the car and stood by the door, waiting for Jono to follow.
Jono looked at Jin Chengyan in surprise. He had an expression that seemed to say she would regret it if she didn't get out. In truth, she didn't want to do anything right now; all she wanted was to curl up in her room. Did losing her family mean she no longer had the right to be stubborn?
Did she really have to play along? What did he mean by that?
Seeing that Jono remained unmoved, Jin Chengyan leaned in, took her hand, and pulled her out of the car, leading her toward the club.
"Jin Chengyan, I don't want to play with you right now. If you want to have fun, go find your friends. If you don't take me home, I can just go back to Jin Mansion," Jono said, feeling a bit angry. Jin Chengyan was being unreasonable.
However, Jin Chengyan ignored her protests. Amidst the respectful yet curious gazes of the club staff, he brought her to a climbing wall.
"If you win against me, I'll take you back," he told Jono as the staff brought over a complete set of climbing gear.
"Mr. Jin, the equipment is ready."
"Good. You all can leave now." There were about ten coaches and staff members in the spacious area, but Jin Chengyan wanted them all to step away.
“Mr. Jin…” The staff member wanted to say that someone was left to ensure their safety, but the expression on Jin Chengyan's face made it impossible to continue. The staff quickly left, leaving only Jono and Jin Chengyan in the vast space.
Jin Chengyan tossed a set of ropes in front of Jono and began putting on his own gear without a word.
Feeling a bit uneasy already, Jono became even more uncomfortable with Jin Chengyan's actions. She picked up the equipment from the ground and started putting it on herself!
As long as she won, she could go home, right?
Great!
She used to enjoy these kinds of activities that boys loved—rock climbing, hiking, and so on. Although she wasn't as skilled as a professional, she was certainly not worse than Jin Chengyan, this Young Master!
Once she had the ropes secured around her, Jono stood with a defiant expression. When Jin Chengyan turned around, he saw her in that stance.
“If I win, you let me go,” Jono declared, having completely forgotten that Jin Chengyan was the arrogant man everyone spoke of.
He casually nodded. “Men and women are different; I’ll give you a three-step head start.” He gestured politely, showcasing his gentlemanly demeanor.
“No need!”
“Very well.”
The two stood before a nearly vertical rock face. Jono gripped her hands tightly, looking up at the height of the wall. Thankfully, it wasn’t particularly high, and the footholds seemed quite reasonable. Yet there was still a hint of anxiety on her face—a look that suggested she was holding back her worries deep inside.
"Start!" With a command from Jin Chengyan, both he and Jono soared into the air, grabbing the first hold and climbing upwards.
Focused on the competition, Jono initially didn't notice Jin Chengyan's swift movements. After climbing about five meters, she suddenly realized how quickly he was moving. She glanced over at him and was shocked to see that he had already surpassed her by a full body length!
His form was agile, his footwork decisive and resolute. If she could see Jin Chengyan's eyes, she would notice the fierce determination reflected in them—this was Jin Chengyan!
Jono took a deep breath. Even if Jin Chengyan was ahead of her, she was determined to surpass him!
Encouraging herself, she looked up and spotted a red hold. She reached out to grab it, but when she looked down to find her next foothold, she realized there were no suitable points available!
But it was too late; Jono slipped!
"Ah—" Instinctively, she tried to grab onto something, but her body couldn't cling to the rock face and began to fall backward!
From nearly ten meters high, as Jono looked down, she felt a wave of dizziness wash over her!
