The desolate area was located at the northernmost point of the city of Lhasa, essentially devoid of human presence. Sparse patches of green grass struggled to grow here, indicating severe vegetation degradation. 0

The Jeep didn’t stop; instead, it continued to speed ahead until it suddenly slammed to a halt at a certain spot. 0

“We’ve arrived. Get out quickly,” Professor Sun said. Without hesitation, we jumped out of the vehicle. Before we could settle down, the engine roared back to life, and dark exhaust fumes billowed as the Jeep vanished from our sight. 0

Once we realized what had happened, the Fat Ma panicked. “We’ve cut off our way back! Damn it, how are we supposed to get back now?” 0

His words echoed our concerns. There was hardly any grass left here; it was a place where even birds wouldn’t want to linger. 0

Seeing the Fat Ma in a fluster, Professor Sun remained unfazed. “Don’t you know there’s something called a phone in this day and age?” 0

We were momentarily speechless. 0

“Is this really the place?” 0

“Don’t rush. Let’s sit and rest for a bit.” Professor Sun appeared completely relaxed. 0

Damn it, saying not to rush was impossible; however, there was no use in being anxious, so we had no choice but to wait here. 0

Mud Man lit a cigarette. The Fat Ma unceremoniously snatched the pack from Mud Man’s hands, took one for himself, and then stuffed the pack into his own pocket. 0

The clay figurine cursed at the Fat Ma. 0

Just like that, we were here, and I had to say the sky was indeed beautiful, with white clouds and blue skies, an azure that seemed almost unreal. 0

Zhang Tong squatted down beside me. He didn’t say anything, just sat there quietly. 0

But I couldn’t help but ask, “Where are your people?” 0

“Well, you’ll have to ask the professor. I’m just an assistant,” Zhang Tong replied with a shrug of his hands. 0

I looked at Zhang Tong, but there was nothing I could do. 0

Professor Sun stood with his hands on his hips, a pair of binoculars hanging from his chest, gazing intently in one direction. 0

“Don’t you have a phone?” 0

Professor Sun waved his hand dismissively and said in a tone filled with exasperation, “Do you not know that you need a signal to make a call?” 0

This time we were completely at our wit's end, but there was nothing we could do because we didn’t hold the initiative. Looking at this old trickster, I nearly lost my temper and wanted to rush up and give him a good beating. 0

“Old Man Sun, don’t leave us hanging,” Fat Ma said as he tossed aside his cigarette butt, his tone growing heavier. 0

Old Man Sun didn’t seem angry; he maintained the same smile he had at the beginning. 0

Old Ghost sat nearby, bored. He took out a square piece of white paper and started rolling a cigarette. Due to our basic Revolutionary combat relations, I walked over and offered him a cigarette. 0

Old Ghost lifted his eyelids to look at me and said, "I can't get used to your smoke." 0

"Old Ghost, you just can't help yourself. You refuse to smoke good stuff and instead go for this old-fashioned dry tobacco," the Fat Ma shouted at Old Ghost. 0

This time, Old Ghost was not having it. He retorted, " Fat Ma, what do you know? A single ounce of my tobacco is worth ten packs of your cheap white-wrapped cigarettes." 0

The Fat Ma was irritated by the comment and directly snatched the freshly rolled cigarette from Old Ghost's hand, lighting it up and taking a puff. 0

Old Ghost cursed him out. 0

But the Fat Ma didn't care; he enjoyed the taste and grinned at Old Ghost, saying, "Next time, give me ten or twenty pounds of this, Old Ghost. We're brothers..." Before he could finish his sentence, several off-road vehicles came into our view. 0

It was hard to tell how many at first, but once they lined up, we realized there were seven vehicles, each carrying four people. 0

Damn, what a show of force! 0

We were all momentarily taken aback. 0

At that moment, Professor Sun put down his binoculars and stepped forward. 0

The seven vehicles lined up in a straight formation. 0
