Human Sacrifice
The Taoist Sacred Body Forging Technique combined hundreds of medicinal herbs, including the Dragon's Essence Flower, Blood Bodhi, and Tai Sui. The effects were overwhelming, allowing me to leap from the mid Foundation Establishment Realm directly into the early Divine Transformation Realm. I looked at my body curled up on the ground while my soul stood at the entrance, in a state of Primordial Spirit.
My Primordial Spirit radiated a faint golden light, especially bright at the Qi Sea, resembling a vast golden ocean.
Even now, I felt lingering fear—not only from the dangers of the Taoist Sacred Body Forging Technique, which could have easily led to my demise, but also from the treachery of Lin Jingyu, who nearly caused my death. If it weren't for the Book of Life and Death, I might have already met my end, and all my fortunate encounters would have been replaced by his schemes.
Entering the Daoist World was fraught with peril; to this day, I had yet to encounter anyone I could trust like Mr. Chang or Wu. My momentary kindness almost led to disaster.
"From now on, anyone who cannot be trusted will be killed without mercy."
I lightly tapped my toes and leaped gracefully to the top of a tall Birch Tree. I could feel that my strength had indeed increased significantly; my perception of everything around me had also improved greatly. Both the range and intensity of my senses had undergone a qualitative leap.
The bright moon shone down as a gentle breeze swept through Birch Mountain, enveloping it in silence.
Suddenly, my physical body lying inside the Cave let out a painful cry, convulsing as if in great agony.
I quickly floated down from the treetop and entered my physical body.
Upon awakening again, blood and bones fused; my Primordial Spirit and physical body became one. I looked at the well-defined muscles on my body and felt the stable Dao Qi fluctuations surrounding me. I had never felt so strong before.
It was said that the Taoist Sacred Body was impervious to blades and difficult to harm with ordinary weapons. The Taoist Sacred Body Forging Technique could perfectly transform my flesh, bones, and Soul, making my body incredibly harmonious—becoming a primordial vessel that allowed me to grasp Dao effortlessly.
With a slight thought, a dagger on the ground flew into my hand. I swiftly drew it across my palm, leaving only a faint mark.
I stepped out of the Cave and punched a thick Birch Tree without using any Dao Qi enhancement. The tree snapped in response while my hand bore no trace of injury.
"It seems I have truly achieved the Holy Body; not only am I impervious to blades and as tough as diamond, but I can also strike with immense force without needing Daoist Arts to kill."
I turned inward to examine my Qi Sea; it was entirely golden now. After being nourished by the Taoist Sacred Body Forging Technique and Holy Medicine's potency, significant changes had occurred within it. Floating above were the Dragon Abyss Sword and Zhou Compass, slowly rotating. Just as I was filled with joy, I suddenly caught a glimpse of a black book flashing through my Soul.
“Book of Life and Death?” I murmured to myself. This was the first time I had seen the Book of Life and Death. No wonder I couldn't find its existence even after my cultivation allowed me to introspect my body; it turned out that Yang Sanqian had sealed the Book of Life and Death within my soul. When a cultivator enters the Divine Transformation Realm, their soul transforms into the Primordial Spirit, which can also be referred to as the Soul.
The term "Soul annihilation" refers to the complete dispersal of the soul or Primordial Spirit, meaning there is no possibility of survival or reincarnation.
I tidied up the cave and then made my way down the mountain. Some disciples in the dining hall were still awake, and upon inquiry, I learned that it had been four days since the last incident when Tai Sui was stolen from our sect's garden. Fortunately, no one had come to Birch Mountain during these four days; otherwise, they would have discovered me lying naked in the cave while Lin Jingyu had turned into a pile of bones, which would have been a huge problem.
I rewarded one of the dining hall disciples with a Qi Gathering Pill and asked him to prepare a feast for me. After eating, I originally planned to return to the mountain, but suddenly, the Zhou Compass in my Qi Sea began to tremble. I took out the Zhou Compass and saw that its needle was pointing towards a certain mountain.
The Zhou Compass is a Daoist Sacred Artifact, also known as a Treasure Compass. It is the strongest spirit-seeking treasure among all Taoist artifacts. Previously, when my perception was not very strong, the Zhou Compass did not alert me to any treasures on Azure Cloud Mountain. Now that my strength had significantly increased, the Zhou Compass finally sensed the existence of a treasure.
Following the Zhou Compass's guidance, I crossed two peaks belonging to Dragon-Tiger List disciples and arrived at a mountainside close to where the Water Storage Room was located, separated by only a few hundred meters of forest.
At this mountainside stood an ancient stone tablet inscribed with “Yunhua Peak.”
“Yunhua Peak? Isn’t that where Yunxi cultivates? What treasure could possibly be here?”
Fearing that the Zhou Compass might lead me to a treasure already claimed by someone else, I hesitated about whether to enter. If I angered someone named Yunxi, it would be troublesome.
Yunhua Peak could be considered a forbidden area for Azure Cloud Sect because not only is it where Yunxi resides, but it also used to be home to the Guardian of the Mountain for Azure Cloud Sect. The Guardian of the Mountain is undoubtedly one of the most powerful elders. Yunxi may only be in her twenties, yet her power reaches that of a Guardian of the Mountain—truly beyond what ordinary people could imagine.
I followed the Zhou Compass's guidance and stepped onto Yunhua Peak, walking through several patches of forest until I reached a lakeside.
The lake appeared clean and clear, looking even more enchanting under the moonlight. In the middle of the lake was an island, where I could vaguely see a pavilion and some rock formations. The needle of the Zhou Compass was pointing directly at that island.
I gathered my energy and lightly ran across the lake surface towards Lake Island. Once I stepped onto the island, the needle of the Zhou Compass returned to its original position; it emitted a faint buzzing sound as if reminding me that treasure was nearby.
However, after searching for quite some time on the island, I found nothing resembling treasure. Did it expect me to dig a hole on this island?
Just as I was hesitating, I suddenly heard a sound cutting through the air.
“Hmm?” I quickly hid beneath the rockery, glancing around, but I didn’t see anyone. It was late at night, and to suddenly hear a sound cutting through the air in the middle of the lake startled me.
However, through a gap in the rockery, I caught sight of Yunhua Peak not far away, where a woman in a red dress gracefully descended from the mountain, her beauty captivating in every way.
This woman was none other than Yunxi, who lived on Yunhua Peak.
“What are you doing here in the middle of the night?” Her sudden appearance startled me, and I could only hide behind the rockery, not daring to breathe.
Around the Pavilion, there were some flowers and plants. Yunxi picked up a watering can and filled it with water from the lake, then began to water the flowers and plants one by one, her expression serious.
After a while of busy work, a fine sheen of sweat appeared on Yunxi’s face. She rolled up her sleeves, and even that simple action was breathtakingly beautiful.
Suddenly, Yunxi turned to look in my direction. I quickly turned away, pressing my back against the rockery, not daring to look again. I heard the faint sound of her loosening her belt, and then her red dress was placed on the rockery above me. A strap of her dress fell over my face, and the unique fragrance of her body wafted toward me, reminding me of the time I had an honest encounter with Zhou Manman at Futu Ridge ’s home.
After a moment, I heard splashing sounds and turned to peek through the gap again. I saw Yunxi with her back to me, completely unclothed, standing by the lake and splashing water. Her delicate figure was mesmerizing.
“If she finds me here, I’ll be done for,” I thought to myself when suddenly a loud splash from a large fish echoed behind me.
Yunxi turned to look my way and walked over with a puzzled expression. She stood so close that her hips were only two hands' breadth away from my face. I stared at her, terrified that if she bent down even slightly, she would see me hiding behind the rockery.
The large fish splashed again, but Yunxi didn’t turn back; instead, she softly said, “So it’s just a fish.”
I secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If it weren’t for my training in concealing my presence, Yunxi, with her strength comparable to that of elders and sect leaders, would surely have discovered me.
Yunxi turned around and walked into the lake from the stone steps beneath the Pavilion. Fearing that she might come back after bathing and find me there, I cautiously moved toward the lake's edge and dove into the water, hoping to use the cover of night to swim away as quickly as possible.
But once underwater, I realized there was something unexpected below—the remnants of an ancient city lay beneath. The ruins were still dilapidated, yet stones below glimmered faintly. These glowing stones radiated powerful Spirit Energy, with strands of glass-like material extending upward that were nearly invisible to the naked eye.
“So this is what the Mountain Guardian Formation needs—spirit stones,” I thought to myself. Activating the Mountain Guardian Formation required powerful spirit stones, which were hidden in the lake beneath Yunhua Peak. If these spirit stones were removed or destroyed, the formation would become unbalanced.
I certainly wouldn't pay attention to those spirit stones; instead, I looked down at the ancient old city below. It was covered in a layer of silt, having been silent for who knows how many years, and the darkness inside made it impossible to explore.
When I raised my head, I caught sight of Yunxi's body splashing in the water. I almost choked on a mouthful of water and waited until she finished bathing before daring to surface for air.
After Yunxi put on her clothes and leaped onto Yunhua Peak, I took a deep breath and dove back under the surface. The Zhou Compass had brought me here for a reason; there must be some treasure, although in my heart, I thought Yunxi might be more appealing.
During the herbal gathering at the Outer Sect, due to an incident involving Water Master Liang Yu, I learned some techniques for holding my breath underwater after entering the Inner Sect. While I couldn't breathe underwater, staying submerged for over ten minutes was no problem.
Lake Island was located in the center of the lake, and the underwater island was supported by a tall stone pillar. To an ordinary person, there seemed to be nothing unusual about it, but I sensed something was off.
Logically, there should be a massive mountain beneath Lake Island, yet it was oddly propped up by a stone pillar. The ancient city underwater was faintly visible under the glow of the spirit stones. Although I didn't know its origins and hadn't seen any records about it in Azure Cloud Sect's historical texts, the ancient city faced the underwater stone pillar, which seemed suspicious.
As I swam downwards, I expanded my Dao Qi to create a space free from water around me. Looking beneath the stone pillar, I noticed that it wasn't circular but rather a rectangular stone platform. Ancient architecture couldn't possibly be so careless.
I hugged the stone pillar and let out a loud roar. The pillar swayed lightly, and a rumbling sound echoed from beneath the water. Suddenly, the ancient city below shook violently and began to rise slowly. A massive head broke through the surface; only then did I realize that what I had thought was an ancient castle was actually a gigantic turtle!
The giant turtle opened its eyes wide, its gaze piercing through to the lake bottom. It let out a furious roar and charged toward me. I dropped the stone pillar and swam upwards as fast as I could. The giant turtle collided headfirst with the stone pillar, shattering it and causing it to tilt slowly.
Just as I was about to break through the surface of the water, I saw the giant turtle open its enormous mouth and swallow something long beneath the stone pillar. That object looked like a coffin.
