Blood Man turned around, and Jiang Changjian pulled out from his chest. The wound healed quickly, and his skin was a deep crimson, looking as if it were made of blood.
"I owe my current state all to you!" Blood Man roared as he lunged forward with his sword.
"So it really is Zhang Xing."
I flicked my Invisible Sword, creating a flurry of sword flowers that severed the long sword in his hand, then aimed a strike at Zhang Xing's head.
Zhang Xing leaped back, and then the air split open. Tai Xu Ling swiftly sliced across Zhang Xing's neck, blood gushed forth, and crimson light splattered everywhere. Yunxi extended her palm, and Tai Xu Ling pierced through the void, cleaving Zhang Xing in two.
The Blood Corpse lay sprawled. With his body and head separated, Zhang Xing screamed in agony, transforming into blood that quickly coalesced back into his original form.
Yunxi and I exchanged glances, both sensing a hint of fear in each other's eyes. Although the techniques of the Daoist Sect were miraculous, they had their limits; to turn one's entire blood and bones into liquid yet still survive was akin to transcending the five elements.
Zhang Xing laughed heartily as he looked at his hands. Then he turned to us and said, "In my first battle after leaving the mountain, I'll use both of you as blood offerings!"
With a fierce expression, Zhang Xing charged at me with blood-red pupils and incredible speed. I silently recited the Incantation, unleashing Wudang Haoran Gang. A surge of blood light collided with my protective barrier and was sent flying away.
I shifted my feet and appeared behind Zhang Xing, then drove a Silver Needle into his temple. The Five Element Sword pierced through the back of his neck, causing Zhang Xing's body to soften and transform into a Blood Serpent, wrapping around me.
"Get off!"
The righteous energy of my Vital Energy repelled the blood water, and soon the surroundings became shrouded in a mist of blood. Zhang Xing vanished from sight.
Yunxi and I held our breath, afraid to inhale the blood mist.
"Aren't you capable of dealing with me?" A faint voice drifted by my ear. I swung my sword, blood mist swirling, yet I couldn't see anyone around.
Tai Xu Ling floated out from Yunxi, suddenly becoming incredibly elongated, drifting like clouds and enveloping the surroundings, completely wrapping the blood mist. Tai Xu Ling suddenly contracted, and I vanished into thin air. With a thunderous sound, the blood light exploded, and a Blood Man fell to the ground from within Tai Xu Ling.
Zhang Xing spat out blood, casting a furious glance at Yunxi. His right arm suddenly swelled with immense strength, veins bulging. He threw a punch that shook the void. Yunxi met his strike with her palm, staggering back. She questioned, "Dao Fruit Realm?"
I swung my sword towards Zhang Xing's head. Zhang Xing glared sideways, grabbing my Invisible Sword and bending it forcefully. The Five Element Sword warped under his grip. I unleashed Rift Path to knock Zhang Xing back with a punch. He transformed into blood mist again, the crimson light coalescing around my feet. I felt my Acupoint being sealed as the Blood Serpent he morphed into clung to my skin, attempting to invade.
"Hmm?" A lazy voice emerged as the beast awakened, popping its head out from my embrace. It grabbed the Blood Serpent and leaped out of my arms, slamming it down onto the ground repeatedly five or six times. The snow serpent shrieked and lunged at the beast.
The beast deftly dodged and curiously examined the Blood Serpent. As Zhang Xing's form solidified, he asked, "Is this the demon king you obtained back then?"
"Yes!" The beast answered for me.
Zhang Xing declared, "Now my Magic Skill is taking shape. My power is insufficient; next time we meet, I'll take your lives!"
With that, Zhang Xing transformed into a Blood Serpent and slithered away into the distance. The beast clenched its fists and chased after him. It exhaled a bubble that touched the Blood Serpent, sucking in a drop of blood from it. The Blood Serpent recoiled in horror and burrowed underground to escape.
"Bubble, come back," I called out.
The beast returned and perched on my shoulder. I held the floating bubble in my hand and observed the pulsating blood bead inside it. "This blood bead is part of Zhang Xing; since it's so vibrant, even separated from him, it's still Immortal."
Yunxi remarked, "He has absorbed the essence of all the flora and Mountain Spirit from Shu Mountain. With that Mountain Spirit directly aiding him, he has crossed a significant boundary in cultivation. If he continues at this pace with his evil practices, won't he be able to destroy all of Shenzhou's mountains and rivers in just a few years?"
I looked at Shu Mountain and said, "The clear for the pure, the murky for the impure. He absorbs nothing but the foul air. Without purity, grass and trees cannot thrive; I fear that within a hundred years, Shu Mountain will be devoid of life."
I gazed at the blood bead within the bubble in my hand, feeling anxious about Dao Fire, and turned the blood bead to ash.
Yunxi noticed my pale complexion and asked, "Are you injured internally?"
"It's nothing serious; I was just caught off guard by the sword energy that affected my Meridians," I replied with a cough.
"Where are we going next?" Yunxi inquired.
I took Yunxi's hand and said, "Home."
Three days later, Yunxi and I rode Tai Xu Ling and landed at Futu Ridge.
Futu Ridge was desolate, having lost the nourishment of the Dragon Vein, leaving the soil barren and loose. The pine trees on the mountain were leaning precariously. Two years ago, during the battle of Futu Ridge, the army was annihilated, and all twenty thousand villagers were consumed by the Snake Goddess's true form. The roads here had fallen into disrepair, covered in fallen leaves and scattered stones; it seemed no one had visited this place for a long time.
Yunxi smiled, her curiosity piqued. "Is this where you used to live?"
"This is where I grew up," I said as I ran toward Bright Moon Village.
Bright Moon Village had become a Desolate Village, barren and lifeless. I vaguely remembered various past events, feeling a deep sorrow in my heart.
When I reached my doorstep, the door was ajar, covered in cobwebs, with a broom lying beside it.
I wiped away my tears, recalling how my mother would always rise early to clear the fallen leaves or snow from our doorstep, regardless of the season. I pushed open the door and stepped into the hall, taking out the neatly folded clothes from the wardrobe to hang them on the drying line.
"Mom, I'm back," I called out loudly.
My mother knew that I had been sealed by Yang Sanqian with the Book of Life and Death. If I were to get injured or angry, it could easily trigger the seal and deplete my life essence. For over twenty years, she had taken care of me meticulously, teaching me to remain calm and composed. Now that the Book of Life and Death had been removed, she no longer needed to worry.
I shared stories of our past with Yunxi, who listened intently and asked questions from time to time. I took her to see the places where Guo Daozhen and Huzi used to live before we finally entered the Forbidden Area of Futu Ridge.
Years ago, as a mere mortal, I had entered the forbidden grounds of Futu Ridge with trepidation, afraid to look at many things. But now that I returned, it was naturally for the Dragon Vein.
The Snake Goddess was originally a beast from Kunlun Mountain. While it wasn't a beast king or anything of that sort, it had managed to cultivate itself into something formidable within the Dragon Vein, transcending ordinary existence—this was undoubtedly due to the nourishment provided by the Dragon Vein.
After the Snake Goddess left, the dragon energy of the Dragon Vein was not taken away. The underground magma had burned it, leaving it injured. Now, I sought to explore the Dragon Vein; after all, it represented a nation's fortune. Even the Snake Goddess could not completely absorb it.
Initially, the Ming Dynasty Emperor wanted White Snake to anchor the Dragon Vein—if White Snake remained still, then so would the Dragon Vein. Over time, White Snake would become a dragon corpse, securing the Dragon Vein and stabilizing the land forever.
However, Zhu Yuanzhang was known for his bloodthirsty nature and suspicion. His general Chang Yuchun offended strategist Li Shanchang, who hailed from a Daoist Sect. This strategist changed the blood sacrifice target from the Dragon Vein to White Snake. Nourished by this blood sacrifice, White Snake's vitality surged and wreaked havoc across various locations of the Dragon Vein, including Zhu Yuanzhang's ancestral temple. His ministers and sons were nearly exterminated; each generation grew weaker until ultimately, the Great Ming fell.
Thus, White Snake became the greatest variable within the Dragon Vein because it had absorbed energy from Earth Dragon Vein for three hundred years. No one could kill it anymore unless one day it consumed the entire Dragon Vein or was consumed by it.
After White Snake ventured into the deep mountains of northern wilderness, it never returned. Standing on the slanted Futu Stupa, I gazed at the buried depths of the Dragon Vein; with a single thought, mountains and rivers stirred as rocks flew into chaos.
Faced with Daoist Catastrophe, I aimed to achieve Dao Fruit here using the energy of the Dragon Vein.
I fell to the bottom of the Dragon Vein with Yunxi, where the rocks below were lifted and cleared by Dao Qi, revealing red molten lava underneath.
"Yunxi." I looked at Yunxi, signaling her to split the entire Futu Ridge with Tai Xu Ling.
Yunxi nodded, and Tai Xu Ling surged to an immense height, slicing through the void and cleaving Futu Ridge apart, exposing the entire Dragon Vein.
The earth trembled, and the mountains cracked open. Within the vein, Spirit Energy surged forth, more magnificent than any Spirit Energy or Dao Qi I had ever encountered.
Suddenly, several enormous white serpents burst forth, their bodies covered in white fur and measuring around seventy to eighty meters long.
"Yunxi, don't kill them."
Yunxi controlled Tai Xu Ling to strike down these colossal creatures, but I stopped her just in time. These giant White Snakes were likely descendants of the Snake Goddess; if we killed them, it would surely lead to enmity. It was better to drive them away.
The golden aura of the Dragon Vein enveloped us as Spirit Energy roiled like a furious sea. Yunxi and I jumped into the Dragon Vein and sat cross-legged. The beast sensed the energy emanating from my embrace and began to leap excitedly upon seeing the scene before it, expressing unprecedented excitement.
