Infiltrating the outer area of the Sentry's deployment. 0

The two teams were thus divided. Duan Shuai led his group of teammates to create distractions on the periphery, effectively drawing attention away from the other team. As long as a safe route appeared within the Sentry's perimeter, they would stealthily slip into the safety of the nearby bushes, evading the Sentry's search once again. 0

Although a thorough search could eliminate nearly every detail, dealing with an entire area set up in the back mountains, especially in the vast and deep wilderness, was no easy task. 0

Duan Shuai's team was almost moving in the opposite direction. As the Sentry pressed their search towards a specific point, Duan Shuai immediately began to break through towards the north. Their speed was not slow; hiding so many people's movements in this forest, which had strong sound absorption capabilities, was undoubtedly advantageous. 0

This way, the Sentry would have to waste a lot of time on ground searches, but no matter how much time they spent, they would ultimately find no trace. 0

“Captain, do you think we should report to higher-ups and request some reinforcements? We are only responsible for handling emergencies. If we encounter a real strategic ambush situation too many times, we won't be able to cope. This vast forest is practically a Primitive Jungle; it’s impossible to delve deeper, not to mention that the other side excels at concealment. I noticed a detail earlier: this forest has excellent sound absorption capabilities. Even if they are running just ten meters away, we can’t hear them anymore. Isn’t this just wasting our efforts?” a younger Sentry questioned. 0

At that moment, among the Sentries, a middle-aged man with a slightly aged appearance shook his head and sighed, “While spreading out can help us gather more details, from what we’ve heard and seen earlier, it’s clear that there are quite a few people involved. Your suggestion might be correct; I don’t know where these people are lurking or if they’re waiting to intercept our situation and extract information. Here’s what you should do: take a few trusted individuals and head to the command center to bring back some reinforcements. It’s possible that someone has already infiltrated from within. Use the code phrases we established earlier; if you spot any suspicious individuals, signal others immediately for support and ensure that anyone encountered is captured alive.” 0

“Understood!” The young Sentry nodded slightly and hurriedly pulled his trusted brothers along as they dashed out of the forest. 0

Watching their retreating figures, soon there was no sound of footsteps scraping against the ground because this forest was simply too vast. The middle-aged man twitched his lips in realization and continued waving his hand forward to resume the search. 0

Under his leadership, those on that side took no risks by exposing themselves; revealing oneself represented danger. The Sentries were armed with real guns and live ammunition; even those with slightly poor aim could end up with a hole in their body. The bullets had been specially modified but still posed an absolute threat to human life. 0

The absence of approaching footsteps did not mean there was no pressure. In a low-lying area somewhere, Duan Shuai and his companions were panting heavily. His teammates looked at him with disbelief in their eyes. Not long ago, he had played rock-paper-scissors with Freyr to decide who would infiltrate and who would cover them. Comparatively speaking, this method of life-and-death decision-making was not much different from choosing one out of six revolver chambers. 0

However, during their game, something felt off after three rounds: Duan Shuai had consistently chosen scissors. In the first round, Freyr lost by choosing paper; in the second round, Freyr won by luck with rock; but when it came to the third round and Freyr decided to take another risk, Duan Shuai still chose scissors. Thus, they ended up as the cover team. 0

This approach was akin to stealing a chicken, and it truly tested one's mindset. Duan Shuai was surprised that someone had actually managed to defeat him; however, losing was still losing. As for the distribution of benefits, it was fair—each team received half. But simply providing cover to gain such substantial benefits would not be considered a commitment in other teams. A commitment meant scores, which pertained to a team's composition, growth, or progress. It could also reflect the limitations in various areas of improvement. Ultimately, only a few teams could stand out in an army. 0

Freyr's strategy depended on teamwork. He first established a unified standard to encourage other teams to make compromises, leading them to be willing to cooperate with his team. After cooperation, the distribution of benefits would revert to the previously mentioned half for each person. However, there were additional proposals; for instance, in the face of particularly challenging missions, the distribution of benefits would need to increase. Freyr would never allow his team members to suffer injuries or run around for nothing. 0

"Two of you go on watch; the rest should take a break. Tonight may not be peaceful," Duan Shuai instructed. 0

He quickly assigned two new recruits to stand guard while the others rested. This phase was primarily a test of endurance and mental fortitude. The two new recruits soon disappeared into the forest, where they could hide in the trees, as the leaves provided ample cover. As long as they didn’t carry anything flammable—like cigarettes—they should be fine. 0

The rest period wouldn’t last long. On the other side, Sentry led Hound forward, following scents and quickly locating their target. 0

From several hundred meters away, they could hear the barking of dogs—a terrifying sound that could penetrate far into the forest despite its sound-absorbing qualities. 0

Before long, the two Sentries returned in disarray. Duan Shuai noticed that one of them had already sustained injuries on his back and quickly ordered the other to bandage him up before they all retreated back into the forest, heading in the opposite direction. 0

Meanwhile, Freyr infiltrated the outpost and entered Base Camp. This heavily fortified mountain valley Base Camp featured enormous tents and dome-shaped structures made from metal frames designed to withstand the rocky terrain and provide more space. 0

As he ventured deeper inside, something felt off. Despite knowing there was no electricity, he still expected some unaware Shadow Soldiers to be stationed as sentries; however, he encountered none along his path. Soon after, he sensed something else amiss—the sound of footsteps approaching from another direction. 0

"Conceal yourselves!" 0

Freyr reacted swiftly. After signaling with his hand and glancing back, everyone instinctively hid behind the walls, taking advantage of the shadows to cautiously peek out. 0

What approached was a group of Patrol soldiers—over thirty of them by count. Looking around, Freyr realized there were seven or eight such Patrol Guards deployed throughout the area; they had narrowly avoided a major disaster just moments ago. 0
