The others chuckled lightly, their laughter echoing through the system. Indeed, the Egg System could serve as both a receiver and an amplifier. Break time was precious, and considering that upon reaching the city, they might not even have a place to settle down, having some time to rest now was a good option.
A sultry voice rang out again, "Sister Medusa, wasn't it a waste of resources to send troops for suppression earlier? Since that’s the case, it makes sense that the Hunter Association's hunters were all mobilized as tools for clearing the area. But even so, it seems you’re hiding something from us. Surely there are other underlying issues at play. So now, there must still be troops remaining in that city. Why do this? Is it merely because the mission's logistics involve too many lives and resources, making it prone to complications? No, my experience tells me it can't be that simple."
Medusa's voice fell silent for a moment, and the system remained quiet. On the other end, a sharp intake of breath could be heard. Medusa furrowed her brow, fiddling with her wavy brown hair, a hint of delight playing at the corners of her mouth.
"What a clever person you are! If only everyone else could analyze problems like you," Medusa's laughter echoed through the system. For a moment, everyone’s expressions turned to shock. Could it be that there was indeed something being concealed from them? The association seemed to have little regard for the hunters below.
Upon hearing her words, many slowly began to feel an overwhelming sense of anger and rejection, their bodies trembling slightly.
At this moment, Medusa sat in the passenger seat. The windshield before her displayed countless red dots flickering on the glass Virtual Screen. These dots indicated various physiological states. If the emotions of those within the Egg System spiraled out of control, adrenaline would surge, causing these dots to shine particularly brightly—blood-red spots scattered across the semi-transparent window.
Green dots represented stable emotions without any fluctuations. There were also blue dots indicating a state between control and chaos; even slight disturbances could tip them over into turmoil.
"These guys are showing physical symptoms of change; talk to them but don’t provoke them too much," said the man in the driver's seat coldly.
Medusa glanced at him and nodded silently, her lips twitching slightly.
Then she activated the communication device within the Egg System and spoke up, "This is something I shouldn’t have to share with you, but now that it's been discovered, I can no longer keep it from you. Please refrain from attacking the shell; although you certainly lack the ability to break free from it, its internal structure is incredibly resilient. Your abilities haven’t reached a sufficient level yet; it can even absorb the force of your punches and kicks."
"Got it," came a voice from beside her in a tone of delight as the man laughed and slapped the steering wheel before accelerating forward.
As tensions eased slightly, Medusa took a deep breath. She noticed many of the light points on the Glass Wall rapidly decreasing; red dots gradually shifted back to blue and even safe green.
Afterward, Medusa returned to her cold and elegant demeanor. "This matter was supposed to be revealed to you when you reached your destination, but now there's no choice. Let me explain how things are."
The process was lengthy, and with Medusa's eloquence, one could truly sense the helplessness of a Star Hunter. If even the Star Hunter felt this way, what about the rest of the hunters in the association? Aside from Freyr, the others fell into deep contemplation after hearing the story.
Although the situation was dire, it wasn't entirely hopeless. As the atmosphere shifted from forced laughter to silence, Medusa snapped her fingers. "Ah, but don't lose heart! Through this mission, when you return to the association, each participating team will receive 10,000 points in team Score and a reward of 200,000 per person. This information will also be announced upon your return, and I'm sharing it with you now. Don't carry any psychological burdens, Hunters; you're not executing a mission that guarantees death. Strive to survive."
However, while her words seemed refined, they felt empty. The atmosphere shifted from awkwardness to silence, only to be met with a few dry chuckles that made things even more uncomfortable.
"Well, never mind. Although you're quite powerful, as a leader there are certain qualities you must learn—qualities that define a leader. Moreover, you need to have a way with words; sometimes a single mouth can surpass an army. Medusa, you'll face many challenges in the future, so keep striving upward. You're still young; there will always be opportunities." A man beside her sighed and turned slightly to meet Medusa's gaze. He appeared ordinary but was far from being just a simple driver.
When Medusa saw him, her vision momentarily blurred as if water droplets were swirling in her eyes.
As a Star Hunter, Medusa should not have displayed such an expression. Beside her sat an older man with dark skin wrapped in a heavy coat, a long scarf around his neck, and a mask covering his face. A large netted goose down hood made him look swollen like a big balloon, yet his eyes were sharp like those of a hawk, revealing a hint of disdain at the corners of his mouth.
Seeing Medusa's helpless expression, the man quickly lowered his hat to obscure his features and whispered, "This isn't good, Medusa; others will see you like this. The responsibilities of a hunter are immense; there's no room for sentimentality. And remember, don't cry; it's a sign of weakness."
"Good," she said in disbelief. "What's wrong with your eyes?" Medusa was somewhat taken aback; initially, she found the driver's behavior oddly familiar.
The man named Good lowered his voice further. "We're on our way now. Once we reach our destination completely, I'll explain everything slowly. For now, just act like this."
Medusa hesitated for a moment before lowering her head to rub her eyes. Good opened the channel and immediately changed his tone to one that was animated: "Ah! The road ahead is slippery; there's no need for concern—it's just some bumps along the way. Our situation will improve soon. Passengers should refrain from sticking their heads or hands out of the windows and avoid doing anything strange—especially anything related to intimacy—because you might find yourself lacking energy when it matters most. Gather your thoughts; everything will change for the better."
