Just as Fetter was about to take the lead, his Hunter Team wisely retreated to the side. The hunters who had been facing off against the Mutated Mature Spider feigned an attack before quickly withdrawing. The Tower set up in front of the Giant Hive was exceptionally sturdy, yet the struggle from the Zerg grew increasingly intense.
At that moment, most people noticed that as they killed more spiders, the resistance they faced had significantly increased compared to the beginning. The number of casualties among their ranks was also rising. Although deaths and injuries were inevitable, as members of the Hunter Association, Star Hunters bore the greatest responsibility to protect the weak and guide them into battle. When they witnessed casualties, it was the Star Hunters who felt the most anger.
Dressed in solid black armor, it was clear that this was a Mature Mutated Spider. However, its appearance was somewhat out of place; its color was a dark brown. This Maternal Mature Variant Spider caught Fetter's eye, and he let out a quiet sigh at the sight of this imposing Maternal Spider.
While grappling with his thoughts, he slowly closed the paper umbrella he held, positioning it horizontally in front of him and lowering it slightly. He merely wanted to see how the creature would react. However, the Maternal Spider showed little surprise; being an insect, it likely wouldn’t be provoked by such a gesture.
Fetter drew a sharp longsword from the umbrella's handle—his signature weapon. The transformed umbrella had now become an unexpected killing tool. Once he fully unsheathed the gleaming sword, he quickly launched two or three heavy metal Conical Missiles from the other end of the umbrella.
These conical missiles rapidly dispersed into a cloud of vapor upon encountering air, releasing a mixture of Anesthetic Gas and simple Corrosive Gas.
Though the shell of the Mature Mutated Spider was tough, every formidable creature has its fatal weaknesses. Fetter held his breath, and after a while, signs of vaporization began to appear on the Maternal Spider's body. Corrosive spots emerged on its thin outer shell, and after exhaling deeply a few times, its throat began to show signs of decay.
A shrill and agonized roar emanated from its throat, which was riddled with holes. It seemed that this gas caused it considerable discomfort; the corrosive strength could erode an ordinary adult human down to their bones in one go. Yet for the Zerg, known for their strong muscular activity and protective shells, such damage was almost unimaginable. Nevertheless, internal damage had been inflicted on the spider, and Fetter was surprised at how smoothly it had gone—indeed, the IQ of the Zerg was concerning.
However, even a mature Mutated Spider held a status equivalent to that of a Mother Empress within its species—a title synonymous with Tribal Leader. The appearance of this Maternal Spider and its relatively minor injury suggested that its earlier roar might have been a distress signal.
Yet even mature Mutated Spiders lacked the capacity to divert their attention under such circumstances. Most encountered human hunters were legendary Star Hunters equipped with energy barriers that made it difficult for them to rush in for assistance. Meanwhile, hundreds of Juvenile Spiders swarmed around like locusts.
This demonstrated a strong protective instinct; nearly all Juvenile Spiders capable of movement near the Tower rushed forward. Such loyalty mirrored that of knights in human society. Fetter felt that even these creatures deserved respect as worthy opponents; any formidable adversary must be dealt with using one’s full strength.
He tightened his grip on his Azure Light Sword.
The patterns on the Sword glimmered brightly, its unique design allowing it to emit a mystical blue light even in the darkest of nights. Shuran was unaware that this was a reaction from the Ability transferring onto the Azure Light Sword. Fetter was known as a hunter skilled in various ambush techniques; although ambushing was considered underhanded and overused by the Assassin Association, it proved to be highly effective, yielding significant results from the very beginning.
The Maternal Spider's body was tainted with Anesthetic and corrosive dust, rendering it unable to perform at its usual level. However, its overall size of nearly six meters was already astonishing. Against such a formidable opponent from the Zerg, even an ordinary person would be easily killed by a mere half-step movement from the Maternal Spider.
The blue light swirled around the Sword's pattern, and then Fetter charged into the center of the Larva's vortex. Countless tentacles surged towards him as the power of the Azure Light Sword surged dramatically. The crescent-shaped blade waves continuously reflected outward, striking the Larva head-on and causing blood to splatter everywhere.
The Azure Light Sword, named Victory Oath Escalibur, displayed its might without reservation. As Fetter wielded it, he effortlessly tore through a mass of Larva bodies. To an outsider, it might have appeared as though he was merely making strange motions in the air. The Larva lacked any recognition ability, and soon a large portion of them on the left side were swept apart, their bodies falling into the city below.
The impact did not stop with just the Larva spiders; although the Maternal Spider's Exoskeleton was significantly thicker than that of an average Mature Mutated Spider, the power of the Azure Light Sword erupted once more. Victory Oath Escalibur stood upright as it sliced through, its blue light intensifying and gradually converging into a singular brilliance.
A long wave of air pressure broke through the Airflow, sending the Larva flying as if struck by a heavy armored vehicle. However, this force directly impacted the Maternal Spider, causing a copious amount of viscous fluid to flow from its throat wound. Some of this darkened slime mixed with filthy debris spewed out.
A piercing scream quickly spread through the area, but those Juvenile Spiders could only press their bodies against one another to absorb the sword's power in an attempt to mitigate damage. Yet this proved futile; without any assistance, only a little over ten Juvenile Spiders remained on the battlefield.
The Maternal Spider was also in dire condition; her Exoskeleton, which she relied upon for protection comparable to Metal Toughness, had been cracked open by the force of the sword. It was evident that such power was not easily blocked. Fortunately, her Exoskeleton remained sufficiently hard and resilient enough to prevent fatal wounds while she recovered from her injuries.
"Dragon~~ Soar~"
A dark blue light surged upward at that moment, enveloping Fetter's body in an unsettling Aura. As he muttered incantations under his breath, a decisive killing intent flickered within him. Fetter raised his gaze again, his pupils turning grayish-white. Immediately after, that dark blue Aura surged like flowing light towards the Maternal Spider.
Such an attack was not something anyone could withstand; a tremendous roar erupted from within as cracks formed across her Exoskeleton. It began to collapse extensively, collapsing inwardly.
That light seemed inherently damaging to Zerg s. Fetter's sword suddenly angled upward sharply; that massive form was lifted into midair by the blue light, floating up and down several times before exploding apart. The remains of the Maternal Spider scattered everywhere as its body fell from above.
