They boarded the Backup Container of the Heavy Truck in an orderly manner. 0

The destination for the three groups of people was already clear: they were heading to the city’s edge, where this fertile land would be developed into a new city, aptly named Slyland City. 0

At the intersecting borders, a massive Steel Wall would be constructed. The Tower would be equipped with various heavy firepower weapons, including Gatling Guns and the new Heavy Hitter. 0

Sniper Towers and Automated Machine Gun Turrets, as well as a Nuclear Minefield, would be strategically placed in relatively concealed locations, allowing both sides to maintain a stronghold while facilitating easy access. 0

While the development of the four sides seemed straightforward, it actually required considerable manpower, resources, and physical effort. However, even in this electronic age, they could use remote controls to maneuver robots to assist in building the Steel Wall. 0

Nevertheless, the robots had to operate with absolute precision; workers were focused on the more labor-intensive tasks. The Engineering Development Team was also present alongside the Heavy Truck, which was accompanied by a Cement Mixer and over a dozen Cranes. Each worker was assigned these tasks, but it was still quite demanding. 0

Indeed, when work extended beyond 18 hours, they had to meet specific progress requirements before they could rest. The towering walls occupied strategic positions with natural ravines providing cover, making them easy to defend yet difficult to attack. 0

In addition to this, the construction challenges were very real. Sometimes they needed to penetrate entire mountain ranges to establish support points for the walls, ensuring that they wouldn’t collapse at the slightest impact. 0

After modifications, the Heavy Truck moved at an unusually fast pace. Before long, they arrived at the edge of a serene lake. 0

The high walls were forged here considering the geographical advantages; being near water made it easier to source supplies. As long as the weapons didn’t melt due to heat, this water could prove invaluable. 0

Moreover, there had only been one point of attack from the west by Confronting forces. This is why such fortified walls allowed them to face Confronting Zerg ambushes head-on without dispersing their troops. 0

As they gazed at the shimmering lake, many felt their hearts soften. Especially at night, countless glowing fireflies would flit about. Due to human destruction, fireflies had become rare sights; however, now that it was nightfall, this area began to reveal its original beauty once more. 0

Fireflies, a favorite among many researchers in the Female Engineering field, were often caught in plastic bottles, their gentle glow used to read by at night without turning on any lights. 0

However, little did they know that even these fireflies, with their faintly glowing tails, posed a significant threat. The soft light emitted was akin to a white bulb heated to its utmost temperature—seemingly weak but harboring immense danger. 0

It wouldn’t cause immediate death, but it could inflict severe harm when one let their guard down. 0

That night, the atmosphere grew tense and awkward; no one dared to step out of the Heavy Truck. The hands of the female engineers had been burned by the fireflies' tail lights, causing their skin to blister. Suddenly, everyone perceived their surroundings as perilous, realizing that even the smallest creatures of the Zerg could present a lethal threat. 0

Medical personnel provided those injured with a bottle of Glucose Syrup and set up saline drips. Fortunately, no bones were broken—only superficial burns—but it was likely that those hands would be unable to hold a pen for some time. 0

Returning to the Heavy Truck Backup Container, fatigue weighed heavily on them. The sleepless nights had pushed their bodies to the ultimate limit. Even the most vigorous hunters would find it troubling not to rest; a few remained on watch while others huddled inside the Container for the night. 0

Yet sometimes, misfortune strikes at the worst moments. Just as everyone was about to drift off to sleep, a chilling breeze swept through from all directions, sending ripples across the lake's surface. Suddenly, strange scuttling noises echoed from outside the Container, followed by terrified screams. 0

“Get up! Something’s wrong!” 0

They had encountered trouble before, but one should remain calm in such situations. What was with this pig-like squealing? Star Hunter Fetter impatiently kicked aside a hunter rushing toward him and muttered under his breath, “What’s wrong? Did your parents die? Even if they did, keep your cool! You’re a hunter; don’t act like a child.” 0

“It’s not that! They’re dead!” The young hunter, perhaps new to the profession, revealed his fear of death. Fetter despised such cowardice and wished he could slap him against the wall until he couldn’t peel himself off. Yet he needed to understand what had happened. Supporting the trembling figure beside him—goodness, he felt as limp as a puddle of mud—Fetter thought he might collapse right there. 0

“Dead? But there were four of you!” Fetter didn’t want to delve deeper into this situation. He glanced at the trembling figure and handed him over to nearby medical personnel for care. 0

“They moved too fast; I couldn’t see clearly! They were ambushed simultaneously by a flying monster—swift as an eagle! In an instant, its head was sliced open, blood gushing everywhere! I was so scared my legs went weak!” The young hunter curled up beneath a towel, biting his lip as he trembled uncontrollably. 0

"Look at you, come over here with a few of your experienced hunters," Fetter said, glancing back as he led several seasoned hunters out of the Backup Container. 0

However, just as they stepped outside, Fetter's brow furrowed slightly. Indeed, there were three headless corpses on the ground; their heads were completely missing, and the wounds did not appear to be inflicted by human hands. It looked as if sharp blades had sliced through and pulled the heads off with hooks. The sight was gruesome. 0

"Dead bodies?" Freyr was intrigued by the sudden turn of events. So when he heard Fetter's call, he was the first to rush out and follow him. Fetter paused for a moment but quickly realized that Freyr was radiating a bluish-green aura, indicating that he had passed the threshold necessary for a hunter. 0

With some level of strength, it made sense not to protect him too much. Freyr felt that ever since he developed his Ability, he had built a solid foundation of strength. 0

He had also completed the final steps of his training, silently reciting the thoughts needed to fulfill his Oath. 0

"Yes, they are dead. Are you scared? This kind of situation often arises during missions; it's far more dangerous than a battlefield," Fetter said as he picked up a stick and poked at the corpses a few times, seemingly coming to understand what had happened. He then stood up and looked at Freyr, responding coldly. 0

"What does that mean? Is everything that happens on the battlefield not enough? Thousands have died there," Freyr exclaimed in surprise. It was no wonder; his most significant experiences had been on battlefields where courage and strategy were honed through countless trials. Now he was hearing about something even more terrifying than war. 0

Fetter quickly tossed the stick into the lake and looked up with a slight sigh. "As long as you're not afraid, that's good. Look, they encountered native Parasite Beasts—wild creatures controlled by Psychic Virus Protozoa. There aren't many flying Zerg s around, and they aren't interested in large chunks of flesh; they prefer to transport their prey alive." 0

"These headless corpses are of little use; it's some Parasite Beast that craves brain matter causing this mess. They are much harder to deal with than Zerg s. If these parasitic creatures have developed in their respective domains, their abilities only grow stronger—it's exponential and quite challenging to handle." 0
