Ten Steps, One Kill.
After using this skill, Fetter was at risk of being eliminated at any moment. This move not only carried immense attacking power but also placed a tremendous burden on himself.
Just now, if he had managed to hold on for another ten seconds, or if there had been an opponent capable of completely blocking the attack, even a block would have inflicted significant damage.
This was a desperate strike made with all his strength. Apart from Fetter who was familiar with the flaws of this move, no one could fully comprehend the limitations of Ten Steps, One Kill.
The body of the Parasite Beast Leader split in two; the viral parasitic organism would implant its symbiotic system into the host's vital point, which was located at Heart, until it detached from its host.
Unless the organism faced death and left behind a viable egg for potential reincarnation, this time it fought desperately. Fetter had used Ten Steps, One Kill to destroy the connection between Vulture's chest and its vital point, effectively shattering the organism's Heart.
Meanwhile, the other two Parasite Beasts were relentlessly bombarded by the Azure Light Sword, their bodies riddled with holes and their symbiotic systems obliterated.
This reckless act of close-range collision seemed devoid of combat technique; however, Fetter's brilliance lay in his clever calculations and his ability to seize victory in an instant.
At that moment, Freyr rushed over. Fetter stood up on his own and swallowed a prepared pill. Soon, his complexion improved significantly.
However, taking just one pill was insufficient to completely eradicate the injuries sustained during battle. He had tapped into powers that he would not acquire for several years to come; this overwhelming surge of Ability energy would not sustain him for long. Thus, Ten Steps, One Kill could only be used to hold on for a few seconds; otherwise, it would undoubtedly impose a severe strain on his body.
While the pill eased some of his damaged organs, other areas of his body had already sustained injuries that were beyond treatment—an uncontrollable situation.
"This opponent is very strong," Fetter suddenly spoke up, seemingly addressing everyone.
Such circumstances were not unprecedented. There had been significant disparities in strength between certain factions of Star Hunters and their prey. However, it did not mean that being a Star Hunter guaranteed invincibility. The title primarily referred to those few hunters who had executed numerous high-risk missions and made significant contributions to the association and humanity.
No matter what kind of predicament they faced, they could confront it alone. It wasn't merely strength that made someone a Star Hunter, but rather the responsibility they bore as hunters that earned them that title.
From this solid foundation, it was clear that Fetter was solely focused on personal gain. However, the secret he harbored from the past was far too significant for anyone else to bear witness to.
Once the battle on both sides erupted fiercely, all the hunters on the Container side awakened.
The rumbling sounds from outside continued incessantly. Although a few fearless hunters were ready to charge out at any moment to initiate rescue missions, Medusa believed that even if they were released, it would only result in another life lost. She issued a strict order: "Anyone who goes out to accompany the dead is aiding the enemy and will be dealt with on the spot."
However, after this command was given, it indeed began to have a remarkable effect. The Engineers, who had never been obedient, disembarked out of curiosity and stood outside the vehicle, watching the distant explosions. Two shadows tore through the air like lightning, colliding together.
Then they both fell, and the sound of their descent echoed from above. As they plummeted, only two figures could be seen streaking past before everything before them blurred into nothingness, as if all that had occurred in the sky was merely an illusion.
The researchers witnessed what true terror looked like. The threat had always seemed distant to them, but as they moved closer and looked around, they discovered a ground littered with shattered corpses. The nauseating stench assaulted their senses, causing some to double over and vomit.
Though they were researchers, some among them had heard tales of how terrifying real combat could be. They trembled as they heard footsteps approaching—one step, two steps.
A creature with a physique as robust as a human's but with a bird-like face and wings sprouting from its back began to split open from its abdomen upward. A rift extended to its chin as its body rapidly separated.
"Who sent you here?"
A cold voice echoed from the darkness. Immediately, everyone turned in fear to see a group approaching.
Among them was a slender middle-aged man who had just spoken. He was covered in wounds but maintained an air of calmness. In his hand was a gleaming Azure Edge Longsword, still warm from having slain its prey.
In that moment, all the engineers were left speechless.
It wasn't that they acknowledged their mistakes; rather, even if they were wrong, they would never admit it and would instead shift the blame onto others. At that moment, however, they couldn't think of an appropriate excuse.
"Uh, that battle just now was truly intense; we all came out here to boost your morale," a voice chimed in amidst the applause.
"This place is not safe; you shouldn't be out here."
Upon hearing this, Fetter had no thoughts to share. He quickly moved past with the hunters by his side, leaving the group of experts, Dazed, standing still. They were unsure whether they had done something wrong or right; they received no indication, not even a loud accusation directed at them. It was this ambiguity that puzzled them the most.
Just then, a cool breeze swept through, and the experts distinctly felt a chill rising in their chests. It was a peculiar sensation, as if something from the depths of the lake was watching them.
Realizing that lingering here was unwise, the experts were even less inclined to stay and immediately rushed forward to catch up.
"Wait for us!" At that moment, the experts ran faster than rabbits, following Fetter back to the Container.
Once back at the Container, the subdued Hunters saw Fetter return and immediately erupted in excited cheers. However, just as Fetter stepped into the Container, he suddenly fainted at the doorway, causing everyone to break out in a cold sweat.
"Get a doctor!"
The Hunters were understandably alarmed. Among those who had come along for the reconstruction mission was one hunter who had previously worked under Machi in medical rescue.
Just to be safe, they also sought help from several doctors in the neighboring Container.
Although they were in a remote area, useful talents from various fields had been gathered for the city's reconstruction efforts, including doctors. Advanced medical equipment had also been transported here well in advance.
