Slyland City.
As a newly developed city, it has gradually stabilized. However, the defense situation was dire in its first year, nearly leading to a breach. In the second year, a significant amount of military equipment was deployed.
Currently, the situation is stable, but the outskirts of the city are constantly plagued by swarms of insects, which is a major headache for the military. If they were to rely on the army to suppress every incident, the losses would be incalculable.
Nearby Slyland City lies an area known as Land Bermuda. There are rumors that people who enter this region often never return. The military once dispatched a squad to search this Bermuda Triangle, but after a long time, there was no sign of them or their belongings.
It is indeed a terrifying zone, leaving one to wonder whether those who entered are dead or alive.
The formation of this Bermuda area primarily consists of mountains and forests, creating a vast expanse of primitive wilderness. Even with such valuable resources like Confronting, human developers have hesitated to exploit it.
Slyland City, while appearing to be just a provincial scale, has abundant underground resources and soil suitable for smelting armor and growing crops.
It seems that the city is now heavily guarded by military forces. It’s no surprise that this area has become a hunting ground for missions, as many of the insects encountered in various tasks originate from the outskirts of Slyland City. The goal is not only to resolve crises and complete missions but also to help the city transition out of its vulnerable phase. Once the defensive structures reach level six or above, there should be less need for such a heavy military presence.
The Soldier-Level Hunter Team travels day and night. The weapons they carry may not be high-end, but even ordinary weapons are wielded with great skill in their hands.
Since there are no women in the team, these men spend their time either traveling or eating, taking turns to stand guard during their rest periods. The journey takes about a week round trip, leaving them with only half a month to complete ten Bounty Missions and three regular Daily Tasks, which can be quite challenging.
In comparison, other rookie hunter teams might struggle to complete three or four tasks together. However, this team has absorbed some experienced members from other teams that were disbanded. Although this rookie team is attempting missions for the first time, their strength has already made them formidable within the Hunter Team, possibly leaving them without opponents capable of testing their Willpower.
They are currently riding in a rented military off-road vehicle. The rental fee is charged monthly, which made Freyr feel quite pained when paying. Although Reward Points can be exchanged for currency and vice versa, the actual amount isn’t substantial. The remaining Reward Points were used to rent this vehicle and purchase an Oil Drum, which was tossed into the waiting compartment.
Fortunately, there are only six members in the initial phase of team building, so one vehicle should suffice.
In reality, they are already cramped inside; Xiong Tai occupies the front seat alone while Maggie, larger than expected, takes up more space than one person should. Consequently, Ross, who couldn’t find a spot in the vehicle later on, ends up sitting on Maggie’s lap.
Using his words, this time could be considered a shameful embarrassment, as if he had brought disgrace to his grandmother's house, despite countless reminders not to speak of it to others.
After a long journey, they soon saw the outline of a city. They looked at the figures moving atop the Tower and realized that they had reached their destination.
Slyland City was merely an additional city, as it had been occupied first by the Zerg. During the attack, they made significant geographical breakthroughs from this city, which later served as a launching point for troops to advance into other cities.
In fact, the main name was not even Slyland City; it was more akin to a provincial capital in size.
Slyland City was the capital of Nightless Province.
After Freyr presented the credentials he had brought from the Hunter Association, the warriors opened a narrow passage through the city gates, just wide enough for their vehicle to enter.
"Alright, thank you for your hard work~"
The warriors waved at him, feeling deeply moved by the spirit of these hunters who had come on such an unexpected mission. After disembarking from both sides of the vehicle, they placed it in a designated area for safekeeping.
They had now entered the vicinity of Slyland City, but it seemed that to complete their mission, they primarily needed to wait for their prey to appear; otherwise, their purpose for coming here would be meaningless.
"This is the situation. Let's search for information around here and see what we can find about the Zixilei Bug."
As Commander, Freyr's primary goal was to gather intelligence. Even if it meant coaxing information from an uncle frying dough sticks about the Zerg's movements, he wouldn't mind doing some business with him to help supplement his household expenses.
"Alright then, after sitting for so long, it's finally time to get to work." Ross stepped down from the vehicle and stretched his back.
Freyr directed them as he replied, "Yes, let's go. We'll regroup here every two hours. So as soon as you have any news, come back right away and don’t wander off anywhere. Understood?"
When he turned back again, everyone nodded in agreement.
Those experienced members who had joined other teams felt that this method was excellent; after all, they had never been to Slyland City before and felt quite helpless in this situation.
"Got it. We'll split up." Mackey said optimistically as he shrugged his shoulders, which expressed his inner frustration perfectly.
Soon, everyone had left.
However, not long after they departed, a response suddenly came from a corner where another team was gathered. "It seems a new team has appeared; let's take them all down this time."
"Is that really okay? This team seems quite strong."
"What's the problem? Can't you see? Sure, there are some impressive ones, but there are also plenty of weaklings. We just need to target those few weak ones."
"We can trick them; I don't want to get my hands dirty."
"Agreed~"
The group exchanged these words without drawing any attention until a hint of a sinister smile appeared at the corners of their mouths, and their figures gradually faded away.
Meanwhile, Freyr and the others were still unaware of the unfolding plot as they wandered around Slyland City.
The city had been established for several years, yet the streets still appeared desolate.
There were hardly any people on the streets, not even street vendors. It hardly resembled the bustling capital city it was supposed to be.
