"If we had collaborated with other teams from the beginning, it would have been much better than the six of us facing so many threats here. Our team is still too weak, lacking high-damage weapons. If you want to know why I'm feeling so down, this is the reason we are destined to fail. Being weak isn't terrifying, but when those who don't even realize their weakness lead the team to undertake overly ambitious tasks, it only leads the team into a dead end. Do you understand what I mean?" 0

Freyr nodded slightly and said, "I understand your point. Are you suggesting that we should retreat and wait for assistance, focusing on our own responsibilities?" 0

Standing with Mackey was Ross, while Parker chose to remain neutral, not siding with either camp, seemingly opting out. 0

"I don't want to agree with your method, even though you're right. If your thoughts differ from mine, I have no reason to say yours is wrong. Perhaps I am taking a risk, but the benefits that come from that risk could be enormous. If you simply don't want to exert yourself, then after completing the mission, should I also think you have no right to the team's rewards?" 0

The others were moved by his words; Mackey shook his head and fell silent. 0

Suddenly, Ross spoke up and responded, "Cough cough cough... Actually, it's not all bad news. I have some good news on my end." 0

Hearing this turn of events, everyone quickly turned their attention back to him. 0

"What kind of good news? Let's hear it," Xiong Tai said with a blank expression as he looked at Freyr. 0

Ross suddenly grinned mischievously. 0

Despite having interacted for some time after their exchanges, seeing that smile on his face instinctively made them want to avoid his response. 0

That smile seemed like an effort to prove his worth by holding back something mischievous; he was trying hard to assert himself in this way, but in reality, it only pushed people further away. 0

He probably had something to say, but his noisy and attention-seeking demeanor made it difficult for anyone to get along with him. 0

Although Freyr and Ross got along well enough, he still wanted to deliberately avoid that big mouth known for its sarcasm and nonsense. 0

However, unexpectedly, Ross seemed unusually serious this time. Perhaps it was beyond others' expectations; he cleared his throat as if sensing someone was wary of him and responded earnestly: "Alright then, I won't beat around the bush. The truth is that there are actually two additional Soldier-Level Hunter Teams stationed here. They seem to be carrying out some kind of mission." 0

"Is that so? How do you know?" Freyr probed, feeling that the tone of the conversation was quite favorable, but doubt began to creep in. 0

"Well, if I told you how I did it, how would I survive in the future? This is my method, so don't ask. If you keep asking, I won't tell you anything," Ross shook his head. 0

"Uh, uh, uh... fine then, we'll just listen," Freyr quickly adjusted his attitude. 0

"Actually, it's not as much as you think. They're here because they have no choice; they've been injured and need to recuperate. That's about it. I don't know the specifics; I've only managed to find out this much," Ross suddenly seemed to lose his energy and fell silent. 0

Seeing Ross's sudden quietness, Freyr wondered if he was still contemplating something. After a moment, he continued, "That's it?" 0

"Uh, uh, uh, yes, that's all. I only managed to find out this much after quite a bit of effort," Ross sincerely nodded. Seeing his serious demeanor made Freyr feel a bit melancholic; he had expected more substantial news but was left with just a few brief sentences. Now the question of what to do next became the most troubling issue at hand! 0

After a while of studying the map, he continued, "Alright then, let's head to the nearest inn and drop off our things. This place may be run-down, but there is an inn here. As long as we don't disturb the locals' routines, we should follow their instructions." 0

The others could only nod in agreement since staying in such a place felt quite unsafe. 0

Some seemed indifferent; an inn appeared acceptable enough. However, when they finally found the inn, they realized there was indeed a significant problem. It was clearly a long-abandoned building with no sign of being an inn at all; it was called the Rose Inn. 0

But the eerie atmosphere sent chills down their spines, especially since the character for "prince" next to "rose" had vanished and turned into the character for "ghost." 0

"Uh, are you sure you want to stay here? I think a tent would be better," Xiong Tai wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Honestly, I'm not afraid of anything except ghosts; this place feels ominous." 0

"Enough with the nonsense! Whether you want to stay or not doesn't matter; we have no other choice. Don't you realize there's already something wrong here? Having a place to rest is already quite good. As long as we don't wander around at night, what's there to be superstitious about?" Freyr dismissed his concerns. After all, he had faced death before and had long since become indifferent to life and death. 0

He was the first to step inside, followed closely by the others who entered behind him. 0

"Welcome!" Just as everyone entered the Rose Inn, a sudden chill swept through the air, and three purple Will-o'-the-Wisp lights floated in from behind. 0

However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that it was not a ghost but a person. He was able to walk on the ground, which sent shivers down everyone's spines. 0

It was a man dressed in a black trench coat, with sunken eyes and a gaunt frame, holding a peculiar Will-o'-the-Wisp candlestick. 0

"Welcome! I am the butler here. Are you checking in?" His raspy voice echoed like a funeral bell, sending chills down their spines. 0

But one should never judge a book by its cover, especially since he was truly unsettling to look at. Freyr quickly bowed slightly and said, "Yes, we would like to check in. Could you please prepare two rooms for us?" 0

"What?" The butler paused ominously for a moment. "Isn't it one room per person? Three people in one room, is that it?" 0

"Yes, three people in one room. Is that possible?" Freyr asked again. 0

The butler hesitated for a moment and replied awkwardly, "It can be done. Please follow me; I will prepare three rooms for you. Here are your room numbers and keys. The two rooms upstairs are next to each other. You can find them yourselves. Be careful on the stairs; the handrails are nearly rotting away—remember not to touch them!" 0

Freyr politely responded, "Understood. Thank you very much!" 0

"Enjoy your stay!" The butler's chilling laughter followed as he watched the six of them head upstairs. 0
