Until the intense white light faded away, Freyr could only sense a very faint presence lingering nearby, a weak Life Force.
Immediately, someone nearby gasped in shock. They saw Mackey's strange appearance, the veins at his temples bulging as if he were on the brink of Ultimate transformation.
This kind of injury was not physical trauma; his body seemed to be in good condition. Aside from an elevated pulse, everything else appeared normal. However, determining whether a person was truly fine could not rely solely on external appearances. Mental Injury also had to be taken into account, especially after assessing the state of the Blood Bat in the air.
The Blood Bat descended slowly to the ground like a mountain, its crimson eyes seemingly losing their luster and dimming as it crashed heavily to the ground, unable to move.
Such a condition was undoubtedly a result of being struck; it resembled a living corpse, with only its Life Signs still active. Mental state did not fall under Life Signs, representing a phenomenon that even science could not explain—at least not yet. The man in white landed steadily, wielding a sharp diamond sword imbued with energy. He leaped onto the Blood Bat's head and thrust the sword through its skull with tremendous force, penetrating deep into its brain until it extinguished the Blood Bat's Life Force, marking the end of the battle.
Nearby, many people surrounded Maggie, desperately slapping him and shouting his name, but nothing could rouse him from that nightmarish state. He remained frozen in astonishment, his mouth slightly agape as if witnessing something truly remarkable. Clearly, they had not anticipated such a situation; although it seemed unbelievable, this impossible scenario had unfolded before them.
What should they do? There were no doctors available; even if one arrived, there would be little they could do for someone in a vegetative state. In reality, there might not be any miraculous remedy—at most, they could administer a couple of bottles of glucose and wish him a speedy recovery. After tidying up the aftermath before him, the man in white delegated the remaining tasks to other team members; the remaining enemies should be easily eliminated using Super Technology weapons.
Tang Bai personally led the team; South and North had already cleared out all Bat-like Mutant Insectoids. What remained were the residual forces surrounding the Blood Bat Mutant.
They were likely the royal guards; these guards hunted primarily for their own sustenance, with prime cuts serving as food for the Bat clan's king while inferior parts were shared among those Puppets.
The man in white frowned as he looked at Mackey on the ground. His skills had failed to provide protection or warning. He approached quickly and forcefully twisted Maggie's spine before cracking his shoulder and chest bones loudly. Suddenly lying on the ground, Maggie took a deep breath as his swollen veins gradually eased. If this continued for just a few more seconds, both his body and mind might have faced serious issues—death could perhaps be seen as a form of relief.
Freyr then slightly bowed to the man beside him in gratitude. "Um, thank you."
"Mm." The man in white nodded slightly and turned his face away coldly. He seemed more concerned about their other companions caught up in the chaos above. In that moment, battles in all four directions suddenly calmed down.
One after another, two or three people landed back on the ground, while four or five others rushed over from different directions. With Tang Bai included, the Military-Level Hunter Team now had a total of ten members. Upon landing, Tang Bai appeared even more disheveled than before. It was easy to imagine that engaging in battle with those Bat-like Mutant Insectoids required absolute focus; even the weakest among them could take a life in an instant if one let their guard down.
Tang Bai quietly returned to the ground. "The situation has stabilized. I've sent someone to the military to request reinforcements for thermal weapon reconnaissance and to blow up the hornet's nest."
The man in white said nothing. After exchanging glances with Tang Bai, he turned and disappeared into the crowd, his presence vanishing in an instant.
Few among hunters could achieve such stealth aside from assassins.
"Why not just call out through the communicator? Why go directly? It's such a hassle," a girl said in a low voice as a delicate-looking Loli-shaped girl stepped forward.
"Going directly shows that this situation urgently requires their assistance. It also demonstrates our sincerity to the military. We shouldn't come off as if we're blaming them; we need to maintain good relations with them. The military's role within the Human Alliance is significant, and we can't afford to offend them. Do you understand?" Tang Bai replied with a smile.
The others remained silent, including Freyrenton and Freya McGee.
Soon after, Ross and Parker Parkinson arrived from another direction. Given how urgent the situation was, they had encountered some trouble along the way, seemingly clashing with a few of the monsters. Parker was injured and had been carried by Ross all the way here.
With things reaching this point, the commanders of both teams finally took a moment to meet face-to-face.
Indeed, this mission had been perilous, and they were grateful for each other's support during the earlier attack; otherwise, Freyr and his team would have been in serious trouble.
"Hello, I am Commander of Military-Level Hunter Team 09, my name is Tang Bai." Tang Bai quickly displayed the emblem of the Hunter Team, which only commanders were authorized to wear. Everyone looked over; it was clear from its design that it differed from that of Soldier-Level Hunter Teams.
"Hello, Commander of Soldier-Level Hunter Team. My name is Freyr." Freyr responded amicably, "Thank you for your support earlier; otherwise, we would have been finished." He was careful not to overstate his team's contributions; he understood that both teams had acted independently without prior coordination. Meeting at this moment could be seen as a twist of fate.
Fortunately, the other party did not notice the details of this matter. They casually acknowledged their companions nearby, then took out a box and handed it to Freyr, saying calmly, "You brothers have worked hard. Take this pill; it will make you feel better. Let's consider this a mutual cooperation. We owe you a favor. If there are any tasks in the future where you need our Military-Level Hunter Team, just let us know. Don't hesitate; I, Tang Bai, consider you a friend now."
"Alright, I understand," Freyr replied quickly, nodding as he took the box of pills and handed it to Xiong Tai, who was resting nearby, so he could distribute them to their companions.
