Time seemed to stretch indefinitely, but the oppressive atmosphere finally began to ease. 0

They had ventured deeper into the forest, and since they had started their journey two kilometers back, there appeared to be more signs of life here. Conscious green energy thrived within the area, and the forest finally resembled a place that nurtured life. 0

The fresh air was intoxicating, uplifting their spirits. The path ahead continued onward as Ross drew his dagger, cutting through the weeds that blocked their way. It seemed that the route was becoming easier to traverse; the soil had softened, indicating a climate suitable for nurturing life. Walking upon it felt remarkably enchanting. 0

Now they understood why this forest was called the Black Forest. It was divided into two distinct zones: the outer area was a terrifying defensive region. To pass through there, one would have to navigate through a territory infested with venomous snakes. This area lacked any signs of life; it was rare to even spot a living creature. The snake population often resorted to cannibalism, and even if well-equipped beings passed by, the famished snakes would pounce without hesitation, using all their strength to ensnare their prey. 0

However, this time, the six of them were fortunate enough to encounter an Enemy Shark Eagle, allowing them to evade the snakes' watchful defenses and stroll past confidently. Meanwhile, the Shark Eagle was entangled in a struggle with an Enemy Naga Serpent King, likely unaware of how long their battle would last. Their existence seemed solely focused on fighting for resources and territory. In the Shark Eagle's domain, many of its kin were also starving; having consumed all the insects in their territory, they craved the fresh and delectable snake meat on the other side. 0

Overall, the indigenous inhabitants of the Black Forest comprised six types: Parasitic Beast Shark Eagle, Naga Serpent Clan, Earth Beast Fierce Wolf, Scorpion God, and Endwing Moth of Zerg. 0

They had inadvertently trespassed into the snakes' territory purely by chance. Most of them were unfamiliar with this route, and traversing through the snakes' domain was a formidable challenge. Their ability to pass through unscathed was largely thanks to their leader's keen insight and the assistance of the Shark Eagle. 0

In truth, Shark Eagles were more troublesome than snakes. They primarily valued the food supply within snake territory and paid little attention to these scrawny primates. If one were to wander into Shark Eagle territory, even a thin monkey might not make it out alive—that would be true misfortune. 0

The forest appeared lush and vibrant, just as described in the mission briefing; only such an environment could support the growth of those mushrooms. 0

Uncertain how much longer they would need to walk, Ross chose not to respond to any complaints from those behind him. 0

He knew this journey would take a while longer; speaking would only waste breath and serve no purpose. 0

After observing their surroundings, they pressed onward, reigniting everyone's spirits in that moment. 0

Suddenly, they sensed vibrations emanating from deeper within the forest—clearly footsteps approaching. 0

The rustling sound from the surrounding forest was eerie, and it moved with alarming speed. 0

"What’s happening? What’s going on?" As Maggie shouted, everyone turned their attention to the trembling bushes not far away. 0

A group of brown-scaled creatures resembling lizards emerged, but there was an optical illusion about them; most of the contours of these lizards were covered in scales, making them look quite bizarre. However, they were undoubtedly members of the Zerg. 0

At this point, too many incredible things had been happening in this world. The evolution of insects or the breeding of strange creatures was no longer impossible. They were just that kind of life form, sweeping through like a plague of locusts, which was the main truth behind humanity's continuous retreat. 0

"Lizard Bugs, a type of carnivorous insect that is particularly aggressive," Ross replied calmly. 0

"What should we do?" Freyr asked, feeling foolish for even bringing it up; the question seemed so trivial. 0

"Hmph, what should we do? If there's no other way, we just kill them. Their claws are laced with Deadly Poison; encountering them means Blood Choke. So it's better to be cautious," Ross said as he slowly took out his bow and arrows, the bow he had exchanged for was named Windrunner. 0

The blue longbow was drawn back gradually, and then he nocked an arrow, a spiral Airflow charging the Feather-tipped projectile. 0

The bow resembled a crescent moon as it drew back with force; the sharp Feather emitted a menacing aura as it sliced through the air at incredible speed. The Lizard Bug that peeked out in front was pierced through the throat by the Feather and fell to the ground. 0

Everything happened so quickly. Ross smiled slightly and continued to draw his bow. Although the arrows were shot at high speed, they could not be continuously fired; each shot required considerable strength to draw back, taking at least two or three seconds. 0

It was likely because of those two or three seconds that more Lizard Bugs had surrounded him. While he could take down one, facing so many at once would inevitably stretch his limits. 0

After all, he still couldn’t shoot continuously; his finger joints could suffer damage from performing the same motion for too long. 0

However, at that moment, the Lizard Bugs that witnessed the Same Kind being attacked immediately took up a fighting stance without hesitation. Although there were only about ten of these Lizard Bugs, their numbers surpassed those of the humans, but it should be noted that they were not facing ordinary humans. 0

At this point, Parker Parkinson also became vigilant. Two Desert Eagles slid into his palms as he faced the Lizard Bug that was roaring at him, its face battered and bruised. 0

The power of the Desert Eagle was evident; moreover, the gun's strength was indeed formidable. The bullets were specially manufactured and packed quite a punch. 0

Even the fragile scales would be no match; piercing through a few centimeters of bone was a trivial task. 0

Relock’s Barrett was also ready, protecting two others. Freyr drew his sharp longsword, while Xiong Tai wielded his Wolf Fang Club nearby. 0

The sound of the Barrett cutting through the air rang out. Although the Lizard Bugs were moving quickly, Relock had grasped the key points for sniping, allowing him to judge their movements despite their speed. 0

In an instant, a bullet tore through the cornea of a Lizard Bug and exited from the other side. That Lizard Bug could no longer rise; it had breathed its last on the spot. 0

A couple of bugs immediately lunged forward with great momentum, naturally charging towards Freyr and the others. Just as they were about to confront them, Xiong Tai suddenly shouted, "Take this!" 0

A vertical strike came down unexpectedly. The Lizard Bug, barely hanging on and bleeding from all its orifices, lay in the cracked earth below. Four limbs twitched as Xiong Tai's club crushed its head; he had only used part of his strength for this blow. However, he still had to confront two more Lizard Bugs simultaneously and couldn’t afford to exhaust all his energy at once; otherwise, it would take even longer to gather strength again. 0

On one side, Freyr slashed with his cold blade and stepped forward to fiercely confront one of the Lizard Bugs. 0
