The atmosphere was low, and this was not good for either an individual or the operation of the entire team.
Therefore, being able to tell them that more people would join in the future would at least bring a fresh perspective to each team member, undoubtedly uplifting their spirits.
"I remember another suitable person. Although he has a congenital disability, he possesses innate advantages. Sometimes, people with disabilities are not entirely helpless; they have certain abilities that we healthy individuals cannot match." Freyr was still pondering when he suddenly recalled a past comrade, someone with a congenital disability but with the heart of a normal person. He could understand what others were thinking.
If such a superhuman were to join the team, it would undoubtedly provide significant help in terms of atmosphere and morale. However, this person's mindset was somewhat extreme; it was a fixation on certain matters. Nevertheless, having someone like him join the team would be welcomed, even cheered for.
Thinking of this made Freyr feel uneasy. He wondered how Nosty was doing now. Nosty should be blind, and in today's societal landscape, finding a job just to make ends meet was quite difficult.
Moreover, being blind and congenitally disabled made things even tougher. If his family were relatively well-off, he might have managed somehow, but it seemed Nosty had sneaked out of his home to enlist in the army. Although he couldn't get into regular units at first, he eventually joined a special forces unit later on.
But what was his current situation? After some thought, Freyr decided to send him a text message. However, fearing that Nosty might not see it, he ultimately called him instead.
Nosty should be doing quite well now; he was likely working at a mental health recovery center, helping patients with psychological detoxification through therapeutic methods.
While it seemed that making ends meet wasn't too much of an issue, this job could sometimes be burdensome. It could be tiring in certain aspects; after all, can any job be completely free of stress? Moreover, this work was part of a public welfare initiative. Nowadays, very few people engage in such activities. Those at the bottom of society, especially those with mental health issues, truly need care. However, relying on government subsidies meant that these individuals often lacked proper support and arrangements.
It was possible that even after doing this job for a while, Nosty might struggle to support himself because public welfare work typically didn't come with salaries—just enough food for three meals a day. Yet who knew when such a job might disappear? Perhaps by then, he would be desperately searching for work just to eat.
However, finding a job with his congenital disability would be quite challenging. Still, he answered the phone and they began chatting excitedly upon hearing each other's voices.
Although it sounded like Nosty was doing well, ever since leaving the army, he had lost the sense of purpose he once had.
Nosty seemed to still be thinking about going to battle, perhaps not wanting to grow old just yet. Fortunately, he was blind and wouldn't notice the scars that time left on his face—scars that would make anyone who saw them feel a pang of sorrow.
"Nosty, could it be that we might have a new addition to our team?" Freyr had just hung up his phone and let out a sigh of relief. He felt somewhat satisfied, though he was also pleased that this chapter was coming to a close.
Ross suddenly realized, "So, does this mean our team will have another companion?"
"Companion? What kind of companion? Do I know them? Are they male or female?" Xiong Tai asked, looking at Freyr with confusion.
Freyr shrugged his shoulders, appearing a bit uncomfortable, but he didn't want to say much.
Xiong Tai's old habits had resurfaced; he hadn't settled the score from their last encounter yet. It was surprising how quickly his old tendencies reemerged, but rather than dwelling on it, he chose to keep his thoughts to himself.
However, taking a step back, Xiong Tai's attitude was indeed much better than before, especially given the significant improvements in his situation. So instead of continuing to mock him, Freyr gave him a casual glance and continued, "Well, whether it's male or female, do I need to know everyone you know? Not everyone has to be familiar, right? It's a male—an initially blind Telepath, my Old Comrade. His abilities are well-known; I've seen them in action. He can serve as a living map and even read people's thoughts during interactions. Communicating with the Zerg shouldn't be an issue either. I think he could be useful for gathering intelligence in the future; knowing oneself and the enemy leads to victory in every battle."
Ross nodded and added, "Alright then, how did he manage to find his way here? Wait, isn't he blind?"
Freyr glanced at Ross and smiled in response. "Yes, continue. What else are you thinking? You've been quite astute lately."
Freyr had some thoughts of his own; Ross's attitude and social skills were indeed impressive. It was no wonder he knew secrets that shouldn't have been revealed to him—secrets that were invaluable to their current team. If they were to rely on trading for Score points, even ten thousand Reward Points wouldn't compare; this highlighted the importance of knowledge.
He laid out his plan: making a call to set up a time and place for pickup. After all, this would be their future teammate, so everything needed to be arranged properly. Although Nosty was an initially blind person, his mind was as clear as a mirror; even if he couldn't see with his eyes, he moved about like anyone else without showing signs of disability.
Thus, establishing a good relationship from the start was crucial. If they didn't approach it this way due to his blindness, it could lead to misunderstandings later on that might touch on his pride or principles—things that needed clarification before officially joining the team.
If he feels agreeable, he can be absorbed into the team; however, if he disagrees, then it is not necessary. No one is perfect, and if he cannot accept the temperaments of the team members, then he is certainly stubborn himself. This would lead to a situation where they cannot coexist peacefully.
If that happens, the hard-built team would be in vain. Although he is a former comrade of the Commander, if only the Commander can tolerate him while others cannot, that would not work either. Therefore, in order to maintain the balance established during the team's formation, interpersonal issues must be dealt with decisively. It should be a clear-cut decision: if it works, it works; if not, then it's time to find someone else.
