Even so, Freyr was definitely inclined to follow the opinions of others. After all, the team seemed to be functioning quite well at the moment. However, adding a new member to the team was not something he could take lightly. If there was truly no suitable candidate, he would rather leave that position empty than allow someone who could disrupt the team's order to join.
In truth, it wasn't that they absolutely needed a new member; it was just that Freyr was somewhat nostalgic. He couldn't stand seeing his former comrades living in such a state of decline. If they were doing well, there would be no need to bring them back to suffer through this ordeal again.
Both Nosty and Duan Shuai had pasts they were reluctant to revisit, and now they were both down on their luck. This meant they had little attachment left to this world. Duan Shuai had no family background, so he was free from burdens.
He only needed to take care of himself, while Nosty simply wanted to contribute something meaningful to humanity. He was unwilling to let himself fall into despair, which is why he sought positions that didn't prioritize monetary gain; as long as he had enough to eat, that was sufficient for him. This was what he considered his contribution.
These two might be seen as ordinary individuals, and there were many like them at the bottom of society. With a slight push from harsh realities, they could easily become what society labeled as outlaws.
Fortunately, Duan Shuai's heart remained pure; no amount of money could change his perspective. Otherwise, he might have even sold himself, as that would have been a quicker way to make money. It wasn't that he was overly conservative; rather, his jobs often involved hard labor with little financial reward.
"Alright then, if you know how to handle this matter, go ahead and act on your thoughts. I think that's reasonable. Although I seem quite familiar with them now, I can't be sure if they've retained the same resilience they had in the past. If that's the case, then it's nothing significant. We should assess their mindset and see if they're suitable for our current roles. If not, it might be better for them to leave and live ordinary lives; perhaps that would be a beautiful release for them," Freyr said with a mischievous smile at Ross beside him.
"Oh," Ross was taken aback by the Commander’s sudden change in attitude but quickly regained his composure. "Then I'll go pick up Nosty tomorrow, Commander. Can you describe his appearance to me? I'll arrange for a convoy to bring him here."
Freyr listened with some exasperation to Ross's enthusiastic words and shook his head. "I think you shouldn't do that; it's better to keep things low-key. No need for a convoy; he isn't interested in that sort of thing. Just dress casually when you go. As for everything else? Stick to the highest standards when you return and give him some guidance. If his mental fortitude is strong enough, he'll pass without issue. Regarding other courses? There will be specialized personnel at the association for evaluation and testing when he arrives. I estimate his abilities shouldn't pose much of a problem; he'll likely fall within the lowest tier anyway. With my recommendation letter, it should be smooth sailing."
He paused symbolically at the end of his statement, wanting to hear what those around him thought.
However, everyone else sat still beside him, attentively listening as he explained.
"Um, alright then; I've finished speaking. Does anyone have anything to add?" At this point, Freyr aimed to continue but also wanted to give others a chance to voice their opinions. After all, it was important for everyone to engage in discussing matters rather than solely addressing individual issues—there was little meaning in that. He hoped to encourage those who rarely spoke up to share even a few words.
Xiong Tai spoke first, sharing his views on how they could help Nosty grow after he arrived and how they could assist him during missions. He even thought about providing him with basic equipment and supplies for their first mission together.
It is indeed true that newcomers need the guidance of experienced individuals to grow. Simply telling them that growth relies on the support of every team member reflects the atmosphere of their Hunter Team. Their approach to life and combat style is inseparable from teamwork.
The cohesion of a team is built gradually through small contributions. The discussion about the team's dynamics seemed to go on for quite some time, until suddenly, there was a knock at the door. The manager entered, holding their team's application.
In terms of results, they had successfully upgraded to the Soldier-Level Hunter Team and gained two additional slots. This was a favorable outcome. The manager stayed to explain some current issues, including the reform-related challenges they would face when accepting future missions. These issues were significant; if any part of the process went wrong, it could lead to unnecessary complications, including mistakes in mission settlements or cancellations.
Just listening to these potential troubles felt overwhelming. In the past, Wanderer's Home had no such strict regulations, yet it operated smoothly with minimal major errors. Mistakes happened frequently, but they never led to such dire consequences.
This isn't about differing opinions; rather, those in higher positions hope for change here. They do not want to be constantly compared to the past. The consequence of not reforming is stagnation, which means retracing old paths. With the sheer volume of data involved, failing to reform and merely increasing manpower would only make future challenges more daunting.
Neglecting current conveniences could lead to significant disasters down the line. Therefore, even for the sake of preventing future calamities, it is essential to address these existing issues one by one—letting go of ineffective employees when possible and recruiting new talent. The goal is to elevate capable individuals into higher positions so they can mentor newcomers in their respective fields. After all, the association also needs reforming to function like a cohesive team.
The objective remains focused on reforming as much as possible. The manager's words sparked considerable thought. However, once he climbed to his managerial position, interpersonal relationships became less important; what mattered now was his communication skills and leadership ability.
While interpersonal relationships may not be crucial now, if he were not a manager, his future prospects would likely be limited.
