"Alright, it's just a formality. You call the person over first, and once the process is complete, they'll be yours. Just nurture them for now; it’s all fine," the manager suggested.
This was likely a pseudo-rule that other teams were also using, but no one really bothered to investigate, so there was only so much help he could offer. Once the process was complete, it would merely prove that he was indeed a member of the Hunter Team 116, nothing more, and it didn't hold much significance.
If the manager said it was fine, then it should be fine. Many teams operated this way; it had become a rule beneath the rules, what one might call an unspoken rule. Too many people were doing this, trying to follow suit.
The Hunter Association had too many matters to attend to and simply didn't have the time to manage them. Each team had its own ideas, and if they violated their rules, it would lead to a heap of troubles when settling accounts. It was better to let things unfold naturally according to their rules; it saved time and effort. Besides, aside from causing concern for the higher-ups in the association, very few teams actually produced results.
Who would have thought that the Royal Hunter Team had become such a rare group? Their numbers could be counted on one hand. The way they handled matters now provided many teams with valuable experience—fair and just. In time, there could be more Royal Hunter Teams. Many high-risk missions often became strictly confidential information.
Yet, very few could access those missions. If no one was willing to take them on, then perhaps it was time to break previous rules and create a competitive team filled with ambition. Of course, this couldn't be filled with malicious competition; there were penalties for teams engaging in such behavior.
It seemed that Wanderer's Home and the association had one goal in mind: never to dishearten those diligent and earnest professionals. After all, if they risked their lives, those who played tricks could still reap substantial rewards. This was what one might call vicious competition, where the rewards for the latter remained high, lacking fairness and impartiality in judgment. Such malicious competition needed to be suppressed.
Freyr smiled lightly and stood up, waving goodbye to the manager. "Take care, Manager. See you tomorrow."
"Alright, see you tomorrow. I'll call you if anything comes up," the manager replied thoughtfully before pushing open the door. Just outside stood the delivery guy, still pushing his food cart toward them. Inside was another delivery cart that already held food—more than last time.
The waiter nodded at the manager; they seemed quite familiar with each other and likely regulars at this association's establishment. He smiled slightly and said, "I'm here with your order; this cart belongs to our restaurant. Do you need another delivery cart?" In fact, their service was excellent, which explained why they were considered the official kitchen of the Wanderer's Home association.
"Uh, no need for another one; you can take away this empty cart. Leave this one inside for now; later on, you can send someone to take it away. How does that sound?" Freyr responded as he stood up.
"Sure! We appreciate your business and hope you'll visit our family restaurant again—it’s meant to feel just like home," the waiter smiled as he recited their restaurant's name. It truly was a unique advertising name—not as simple as just reading it out loud.
However, it sounded quite pleasant and agreeable. He hurriedly bowed to everyone present and pushed the cart out the door.
The previous manager also left amicably. After that, they enjoyed a hearty meal in the room, feeling completely free of any pressure, appearing more carefree than ever.
Xiong Tai felt no guilt from his earlier mistakes; he was now bold enough to call everyone brothers.
Thanks to the atmosphere of this team, they had such a dynamic. If they were always tangled up in past errors, how long would it take to move on? It would also be detrimental to the team's cohesion. Xiong Tai seemed to have a simple-minded attitude and was straightforward in temperament, so he wouldn't harbor ill feelings towards others. "The food delivered is delicious, Commander. If you don't eat, I'll finish it all!" Naturally, Freyr understood this; he hadn't relaxed in a while either. He had barely eaten much of the meal earlier, as the six members of the team had quickly divided it among themselves.
Ross looked directly at Xiong Tai and said seriously, "Hey, where's my meat gone? Leave me one bun; don't eat so fast!"
The scene felt warm and cozy until they finished eating. They quickly left the room, their spirits high after successfully advancing as a team, feeling as if they had finally cleared the clouds to see sunlight.
Early the next morning, Ross drove the shared car of the team to pick up their new teammate—the SUV that could switch to Flight Mode.
However, to keep it in optimal condition, he didn't switch to Flight Mode but used driving mode instead for the pickup. Meanwhile, another group returned to Wanderer's Home.
At Wanderer's Home, there were already many people in the morning. The manager was visibly surprised to see Freyr; clearly, he hadn't expected them to arrive right after the morning meeting. They had indeed made it just in time for an early gathering.
"You don’t need to look around; they sent me to host you. You all stand at the entrance and assist anyone who arrives," the manager said without hesitation before leading Freyr and his group through a special service passage.
There weren't many people in the special passage. Although other areas seemed empty at this time, walking through here felt like a symbol of status. They appeared quite familiar with each other; even though they weren't particularly distinguished individuals, serving old acquaintances brought many conveniences.
"The task computers here will arrange everything for you. Just enter your team number."
Soon, they arrived at a special room, which contained only one Computer. The Virtual Screen was relatively large, and it suddenly switched to the Mission Template.
After entering 116 and the default password, they accessed the Server belonging to the Soldier-Level Hunter Team.
Daily Tasks? These are the tasks that every team at each level must complete. The difficulty increases as the team's level rises, but it does not spike dramatically all at once. It seemed that the template had been simplified after filtering, and the operations were something everyone could easily replicate and learn.
