As night fell, the situation was not as complicated as imagined. Although everyone’s emotions were heavy, it seemed that sleeping in such a place greatly affected their mood.
They only managed to fall asleep past midnight because the surrounding silence was overwhelming. This silence was not ordinary; they could even feel the breaths emanating from each other. The sound of labored breathing gradually calmed down, only to be replaced by a sudden snore.
It was just too quiet.
By the next morning, everyone woke up to find that the sun was already high in the sky, indicating it was noon. They had slept straight through to midday, and being out in the wild made each of them feel a sense of urgency to catch up with one another.
With this mindset, their emotional state improved significantly. They left their vehicle behind and ran off in different directions. Under the influence of their emotions, everyone displayed varying attitudes.
“Let’s go. We’ll try to be back in a few hours,” Freyr suggested.
It seemed he wanted those among them with stronger physical abilities to take the lead. Only they could truly showcase their strength when working together, and there were no significant issues with their coordination. In fact, their approach was quite unique; even teamwork wasn’t enough to change how they operated.
Moreover, Freyr didn’t want any irrelevant team members getting injured while hunting a mere insect. Such a scenario would be perilous. As the Commander, he had to set an example. With strong conviction, many matters became easier to resolve.
Resolving issues in the most reasonable and efficient way was indeed the best form of cooperation. Sometimes, the weak must align with the strong to find better solutions. It wasn’t that this method was unsuitable; rather, in situations without better alternatives, using a singular approach often proved to be the best solution.
The team currently valued brute force above all else, followed by intellect. However, strategy seemed useless in the face of absolute power; it could only address specific problems while brute force could break through all barriers and difficulties. The twists and turns of troubles were precisely what made things complicated for them.
The team split into two halves: one half favored brute strength while the other possessed considerable intelligence but lacked physical prowess. Those who could hinder others were assigned to wait on the hillside.
Figures darted swiftly through the depths of the jungle, accompanied by rustling sounds that echoed around them. Those noises resembled the movements of demons, causing their hearts to race even faster at times.
The noise generated by tension escalated, and the situation on one side became even more intense. Other disturbances began to arise in succession, and suddenly the footsteps became chaotic. The birds and beasts of this jungle seemed to be stimulated, scattering in all directions.
"Roar!"
A roar erupted, reminiscent of a Tyrannosaurus, as a massive armored creature came into view. The King Worm thrust its head down forcefully, its resilient serrated teeth protruding like the iron pincers of a crab, terrifyingly clamping down on a leopard-like creature and tearing it in half.
Blood flowed from between the teeth, and the innards had already been swallowed whole. The beast, known for devouring livestock without leaving bones, suddenly had its eyes light up as if it had spotted an even more delectable prey—this group of four people standing before it.
The roar of the Grim Reaper Weasel intertwined with the thunderous sound of a Sniper Rifle. The bullets from the Gauss Sniper Rifle shot through the air like silver lasers, causing quite a commotion. However, Relock's Hawkeye could not create a greater effect at that moment. Nevertheless, the bullet forcefully penetrated the serrated teeth—those razor-sharp edges were indeed the creature's fangs—and some teeth were knocked out, indicating that its fury had reached a boiling point.
The bushes shook violently as the creature's rage intensified. Its ferocity swelled like a raging flame, unstoppable by the dense branches around it, charging straight toward those tiny beings below.
"We spread out and attack."
As soon as the command was given, a sharp blade descended from above like a deadly saw. The intense impact spread outwards while others quickly dodged. With a loud bang, a silver bullet pierced through the blade again, shooting through its chest and exiting through its spine—the power of the Gauss Sniper Bullet was formidable.
This only made the King Worm struggle even harder. The force of impact continued to rain down from above; Relock's movements were essentially fixed in place as he could only pause to adjust his firearm's precision at that moment.
Thus, relying on instinct alone, the King Worm launched an attack against him. The commotion quickened further, and on another front, the intensity escalated dramatically. Xiong Tai suddenly lunged forward; his Primordial Thunder Hammer expanded in size before transforming into an invisible war hammer that struck at a pivotal point—the knee joint—causing it to shatter. The King Worm immediately knelt down, roaring continuously as blood trickled from its mouth, likely its own.
Then came another powerful Sting from its back. "Shattered Bones! Congyun!" Two techniques merged into one; the blade's aura sliced through muscle and skin like that of the Death Weasel. Despite the King Worm's exceptionally hard armor, it shattered under this assault, exposing its bones beneath.
"Roar!"
Although the bones were protruding, they did not have the power to cut through. The Dual Daggers bent and then flicked, causing the bones to snap apart. The spine of the King Worm was shattered, and its lower body collapsed. Suddenly, a shadow leaped upward, pressing down with overwhelming force.
The head burst open, cleaved by the sharp edge of the Atakan Blade. The King Worm began to thrash about in its rigidity. However, once it hit the ground, it became useless; its body could be left there without concern as long as the head was secured in hand.
The creature had finally been slain, its head placed into a ring. The expressions of the others turned grave as they observed; their combat strength had truly grown stronger. It was becoming increasingly difficult for them to find themselves in life-and-death situations.
"We've completed the mission; let's retreat. Other beasts will return soon. There can't be just one Predator in such a vast forest. This one is a royal-level being, essentially a leader. Let's go quickly; if we are discovered by their elite guards, we won't be able to escape," Freyr commanded.
