Although this place is referred to as a paradise, it is far from being a beautiful location.
Even now, they could still smell a hint of blood in the air. The bloodied cotton swabs had been buried in an extra pit, and the situation was much more complicated than they had imagined.
The scent in the air was not particularly unpleasant. Freyr told Ross to take a break, and then he shook out the tiny microphone from his ear, a device no larger than a grain of rice.
This device was made of Alchemical materials, which were not affected by weight at all. However, he needed to make a change. Originally, this device was meant to detect vital signs when placed in the ear. If activated in reverse, it might also be used for communication, but it was uncertain whether the frequency here could be detected from above. After all, connecting with Military Satellites and using Ansebo devices for communication relied on this type of device to function.
One-way communication would burden the device significantly. If it were to be used for extensive communication, their positioning would become difficult to lock onto. Kinetic Energy Weapons should not be activated casually; they required prior guidance for targeting. Otherwise, they could land elsewhere and potentially cause unpredictable consequences on Earth.
While it wouldn't lead to nuclear contamination on Earth, there were still issues with recovery and stringent requirements for materials. Transporting such materials accurately while maintaining precise positioning and locking would require substantial financial resources.
Given the extreme scarcity of Nano Metal, humanity decided to prioritize completing these Kinetic Energy Weapons. After all, these were the only means that could aid humanity's future. Humanity had survived many disasters up to this point; lacking metal wouldn’t lead to extinction. Thus, under that determination, Kinetic Energy Weapons were sent into Outer Space, orbiting around the equator under the unified command of Military Satellites and Ares.
However, in times like these, there was no other choice. When one-way communication was necessary, it indicated an extremely urgent situation; even if contact were lost afterward, it wouldn’t matter.
Moreover, this could only facilitate one-way communication—meaning one side could speak while the other could only receive but not respond. It was already quite challenging for such a device to accommodate one-way communication; achieving two-way communication was not feasible yet. Although a new product was still in development, it likely wouldn’t be available for use anytime soon.
"I am in an extremely urgent situation. My companions and I are threatened by unknown creatures. While I am currently okay, one of my companions has already sustained serious injuries. We may have arrived at a location previously visited by our predecessors. Because of this, we want to understand their circumstances better. From what I know, many creatures have appeared inside that can even penetrate our soft armor."
"This is a new type of soft armor with Defense Power sufficient to withstand the impact of a speeding car; however, it deformed under that tearing force. Therefore, this is no longer something I can rely on. If we can still communicate, I will do my best; as long as this device is operational, I will keep trying to reach out. If contact is lost for over an hour without any response, do not worry about our survival—just aim directly at our last known precise location and drop the payload. Our deaths would be inconsequential."
"If it's to let the creatures inside escape, other powers might even exceed the destructive force of the Zerg. A Rift could appear above the Primordial Thunder Hammer. This hammer, which is almost made of Alchemical material, should be able to self-repair if it develops cracks, but it seems that it hasn't healed at all; instead, it has simply decayed, much like a human limb. Moreover, my companions and I seem to have run into some trouble. The status of the others is unknown; we've lost track of them. I repeat, we've lost track of them. If we can't get out, we must drop a condemnation! Damn it."
With that, Freyr suddenly looked up in surprise as he noticed an unusual climatic change not far ahead. There was no distinction between day and night here, yet a storm had begun to brew out of nowhere. Then, a gravitational force suddenly pressed down on him. Just as Freyr was about to stand up, he felt an inertia pull him back down, causing him to sit abruptly on the ground, which sank beneath him.
"Is something coming? Everyone else, wake up! Get it together!"
Immediately following his shout, he grabbed the Aterkan Longsword and held it protectively in front of his chest. The force of inertia was strikingly evident; the gravity had shifted suddenly. It felt as if the previous gravity was less than half of what existed in the outside world, but now it felt like it had doubled.
It was a weight that made his legs feel as if they were filled with lead. He could still move, but it required far more effort than before. At this rate, even ordinary movement would quickly lead to exhaustion.
After all the shouting, Ross suddenly woke up beside him. As he stood up, he found himself in the same predicament as Freyr moments earlier and immediately knelt down, feeling his legs heavy as if they were filled with lead. His thoughts mirrored Freyr's; alertness kicked in.
"This isn't my problem! It's not my problem!"
Nearby, Duan Shuai, who had been resting, suddenly woke up trembling and appeared even more deranged than before. Shaking uncontrollably, he suddenly screamed.
"This is insane!" Ross shouted immediately.
"Forget about him! Grim Reaper Weasel, I'll give you all the bullets I have here," Freyr said as he rummaged through his ring, causing countless bullet boxes to fall out.
These were magazines from the Grim Reaper Weasel that he had previously requested from others. Some bullets had already been used; unfortunately, Relock wasn't present—sniper bullets were much faster than arrows.
However, compared to penetration power, the Alchemical Bow had been enchanted and could achieve a remarkably strong effect and responsiveness. Its strength was undeniable, and everyone else was astonished by Ross's actions as well.
However, Ross did not exchange for the Cursed Arrow; instead, he opted for the Alchemical Arrow, which was more troublesome and consumed a considerable amount of resources. It was later discovered that most of the energy stored in the Alchemical Arrow was concentrated within it. Therefore, exchanging for the Alchemical Arrow alone was sufficient. Although the Feather also had an Alchemical Matrix attached to it, even without those matrices, the power of the arrowheads alone was quite formidable.
Thus, this time he only exchanged for the Alchemical Arrow, which required less consumption. The trouble lay in the fact that he had to attach each arrowhead onto the Feather one by one. Just thinking about it made his neck and shoulders ache again.
