“Jia Tiantian, you...” 0
“She’s talking nonsense. The pen fell on the ground, and I bent down to pick it up and accidentally bumped into her,” Jia Tiantian said with an attitude as if she were a dead pig not afraid of boiling water. 0
“Alright, alright, let’s get back to class,” the Geography Teacher knew that Jia Tiantian was notorious for being a troublemaker and had to smooth things over. 0
I told my mom about it. 0
“He’s your brother; how could he intentionally hurt you?” My mom looked skeptical. “I moved from the county to the countryside for a better life, so don’t go looking for trouble every day!” 0
At school, the teachers dared not intervene. 0
My mom let me down completely; I would rather cry alone in secret than let her see the needle marks on my leg. 0
The frequency and number of times Jia Tiantian bullied me kept increasing. 0
I missed my dad so much. 0
He came to see me often, but my mom always found various excuses for us to meet briefly. I didn’t dare tell him; I was afraid he would worry about me during his loneliest moments. 0
Old Jia told my mom that my dad had been “dismissed from office” and that his life was ruined. 0
Fortunately, I still had Teacher Jiang. When she saw the countless needle holes on my pants, she shed tears, and the old lady hugged me tightly, crying uncontrollably: “What a sin!” 0
Teacher Jiang took me directly to the principal to report Jia Tiantian for bullying! 0
Upon hearing that I reported Jia Tiantian, over twenty students from three grades stood up to accuse him and his “little brothers” of intimidating and beating classmates into paying for their expenses! 0
Before the principal could respond, my mom was the first to oppose this accusation: “Kids will fight and play around; how can this be considered bullying? How much money can kids have? Can they really intimidate or extort anyone? Teacher Jiang, even if Jia Tiantian has some issues, as a homeroom teacher, you shouldn’t look at people through colored glasses! As a teacher of the people, the most important thing is ethics!” 0
At this point, the stubborn Teacher Jiang made a firm statement: “My class cannot harbor such troublemakers; I request that he be removed from our class!” 0
But other homeroom teachers were unwilling to take him in: 0
“There’s no space in our class!” 0
“Neither do we.” 0
... 0
In the end, not only did Jia Tiantian not get transferred, but Teacher Jiang also lost her position as homeroom teacher! Because she insisted on reporting Jia Tiantian for bullying, claiming it “affected the school’s reputation,” she was also disqualified from any awards or promotions for the year! 0
With my mom's efforts and in the presence of the rural education office, the school organized a vote among 14 people including the principal, Vice Principal, head of teaching, and Grade Leader to determine whether Jia Tiantian’s actions constituted bullying. 0

The outcome was predictable. 0

I finally showed my mother my legs covered in needle marks and the clothes full of holes. "If you really don't want me, just return me to my dad! I'd rather eat plain food with him!" 0

She had a huge argument with Old Jia. Old Jia, furious, slapped Xiao Jia twice. I thought everything had passed, but little did I know that worse was yet to come. 0

The diary bore the stains of my daughter's tears. 0

"Child, you compromise for your father's happiness, but if you disappear, he will live a life filled with regret and pain!" 0

I had to see Teacher Jiang; she had evidence of my daughter being bullied. But her phone was always unreachable. When I returned to the small restaurant where I had first gotten my daughter's diary, I found the door tightly shut. Someone nearby said, "It's been closed for several days; I heard a family member is ill." 0

I went back to the hospital, and this time I saw my daughter, but her eyes were tightly shut, and she didn’t respond to my calls. 0

"Doctor, can you tell me where my daughter is hurt? What’s her condition?" 0

"The patient has no physical injuries; it seems she has suffered a sudden and severe shock that has led to stress-related symptoms! We consulted experts from the province, and they said it can only be left to time..." 0

As I left the ward, I ran into Jiang Xiaoli and someone surnamed Jia. I threw out a harsh warning: "You better not let me uncover the truth!" 0

I tried calling the number that had sent me a text before. After ringing for a long time, it was finally answered by a frail voice on the other end. "Who is this?" 0

"Hello, my surname is Hu. I'm looking for Teacher Jiang Qiuying..." 0

Suddenly, there was a sound of something being knocked over on the other end of the line. 0

I recognized that voice; it belonged to the elderly person who had given me my daughter's diary—the owner of the small restaurant across from her school. 0

In a frenzy, I drove to my daughter's school and asked the security guard at the entrance, "I'm looking for Teacher Jiang's student..." 0

"You're not from around here, are you?" The guard glanced around suspiciously. 0

"I’m just here on a business trip; we’re classmates..." 0

"No wonder something happened to her; you can't see her," the security guard said mysteriously. 0

I flicked a soft cigarette from the pack. "It's fine if I can't see her. I'll go check on the old folks at her place..." 0

"Well, in this situation... it really depends on your good nature... Teacher Jiang lives in..." 0

I shoved the entire pack of cigarettes into his hand. "Thanks!" 0

Teacher Jiang's neighborhood was quite old. Her apartment was on the second floor. After knocking on the door, I could clearly hear movement inside, but no one answered. 0

I tried pulling the door, and to my surprise, the security door came crashing down along with the frame. 0

"Teacher Jiang? It's Tian Tian's dad. Are you home?" 0

A groan came from inside. 0

I rushed in. 0

An elderly woman lay on the floor, trying to reach for the phone nearby but unable to grasp it! 0

It was the owner of that little restaurant. 0

"Ma'am, what happened to you?" 0

"My leg... I fell... Who are you?" 0

I picked up the elderly woman and took her to the hospital. 0

The doctor said her leg injury wasn't serious; she mainly fainted due to malnutrition and low blood sugar. 0

How could someone who runs a restaurant be malnourished? No family would go hungry! 0

As she received an IV drip, the old woman grasped my hand. "I remember you; you're Tian Tian's dad. That girl has been through so much..." 0
