Looking at the girl who had a firm grip on Liu Dan's throat, the soldiers immediately reacted, drawing their guns and aiming them at Su Ruolan. 0

"Don't move! Everyone stay calm. I believe this young lady means no harm," Liu Dan said, raising his hand to stop them, maintaining his composure. 0

"Qin Zhi Han, how is he?" Su Ruolan asked. 0

"Miss, we are also here to rescue Captain Qin. Seeing how concerned you are for him, we are all on the same side. Why not let go first and discuss this properly?" Liu Dan urged. 0

Having heard that Liu Dan and his group were risking their lives to save someone, Su Ruolan realized they were on Qin Zhi Han's side. The reason she had initially restrained Liu Dan was to avoid alarming them and causing a chaotic fight that could reveal their location. Now that she heard Liu Dan's words, she decided to release him. Besides, she sensed that these soldiers had abilities at most at the second-tier high level; with her strength, even if she fought them, it would be an easy victory. 0

A chill ran down Liu Dan's spine as he felt the overwhelming presence emanating from Su Ruolan when she had him in a hold. He realized her strength was unfathomable; none of his comrades could match her, and he broke into a cold sweat. 0

"Miss, if you are here to save Captain Qin, please hurry. He is not well; he has a fever and has been isolated. Colonel Jiang and the others claim that Captain Qin needs rest, but they actually intend to kill him. If he doesn't recover by tonight, those people will take action. We came to get medicine to reduce his fever," Liu Dan said urgently in a low voice. 0

"Where is Qin Zhi Han now?" Su Ruolan asked. 0

"I only know he is in the Inpatient Department on the Tenth Floor; I'm not sure which room. However, it's heavily guarded and won't be easy to get through," Liu Dan said, glancing out the window and pointing to another tall building. In the dark of night, the dim lights of that building flickered on and off, casting shadows that appeared and disappeared, adding an eerie atmosphere. 0

"Alright, you don't need to go into the pharmacy; I've already got the medicine. When I reach the Inpatient Department later, create some commotion down here to cover for me," Su Ruolan said decisively to Liu Dan. 0

"Understood," Liu Dan and his companions agreed as they began discussing their plan of action. 0

As Su Ruolan and the others stealthily approached the Inpatient Department, a group of heavily armed soldiers stood rigidly outside the hospital's administrative building conference room. Inside, five or six people were engaged in a meeting, the atmosphere tense and charged. 0

"Colonel Jiang, what do you mean by this? Are you not afraid that morale will crumble and the base will fall apart?" a gaunt man exclaimed angrily. 0

"Colonel Zhu, what do you propose? Medical supplies are critically low; even the severely injured Ability users and the guard team are without resupplies. What do a few thousand civilians matter? This is not a time of peace. In the future, it won't just be medical supplies; food will no longer be provided for the weak and sick for free. If you want to survive, you must rely on yourself. To receive protection from the base, everyone must contribute eighty percent of their resources. Sick individuals will be expelled from the city," Colonel Jiang replied nonchalantly, his cheeks quivering with agitation. 0

"But those are thousands of lives! Are you not afraid of inciting a riot? Before the zombies even breach the city, we humans will turn on each other!" Colonel Zhu argued passionately. 0

"What solution do you have? I've already sought help from Commander Jiang several times. The latest information told me to contact Deputy Commander Zhang; it's closer to Base S for rescue operations. Today, Commander Zhang's son returned, but when I inquired again, they were still giving me vague answers. What can we do? With nearly ten thousand mouths to feed, I cannot neglect my troops," Colonel Jiang said, raising his hands in exasperation. 0

"Then send someone to treat Qin Zhi Han! He just returned from outside and should be familiar with the situation. We can find a way," Colonel Zhu suggested. 0

"There isn't a single doctor in the city right now; how can we treat him? He's severely injured and had a fever after leaving isolation; who knows if he’s infected with the Zombie Virus? While it could be an Ability upgrade, I can't take that risk. To be frank, I've ordered Jiang Yan to keep watch there; if anything unusual happens, they are to execute on-site without reporting," Colonel Jiang said, narrowing his eyes with a hint of coldness. 0

"You sought help from Commander Jiang; how could he not inquire about you? You two are brothers!" Colonel Zhu exclaimed upon hearing that Colonel Jiang had sent someone to deal with Qin Zhi Han. He opened his mouth but swallowed his words in resignation, shifting to mention Commander Jiang with disbelief. 0

"Hmph, brothers? We've faced zombie sieges several times here; it's a miracle we've lasted this long. Those who could leave don’t want to return; who would voluntarily come closer? Wait, why is Zhang Shaoshuai here without bringing troops?" Colonel Jiang questioned suspiciously. 0

"Perhaps Commander Zhang received our call for help. And don’t think Zhang Commander is being duplicitous with Jiang Commander; sending his only son here shows his sincerity," Colonel Zhu speculated. 0

"Sincerity? He didn’t bring any supplies at all! Before the apocalypse, he was one of Chairman Dai's elders; everyone respected him for that. But my brother is no slouch either—he’s Chairman Dai's grandson-in-law. After the apocalypse, my brother has achieved remarkable military success and has risen to commander rank above him. He can't be happy about that and is trying to play old tricks. It’s easy for his son to enter the city; getting out again is impossible," Colonel Jiang expressed his dissatisfaction. 0

"As for Qin Zhi Han, I think you should treat him cautiously. He was selected from the guard team into the military. In previous city defense battles, he fought bravely and earned significant merit. This time he returned with so many supplies and has considerable prestige among both the military and civilians; we need to handle this properly," Colonel Zhu advised earnestly. 0

"You don't know, I don't know, who knows how he died? Who told him not to be like the Young Commander, without any backing? A soldier who climbed up from the grassroots, with such a reputation—don't you think that's not good for either of us?" Colonel Jiang whispered seductively, seemingly forgetting that he also came from a humble background. 0

A flicker of struggle passed through Colonel Zhu's eyes, and he finally fell silent. 0

At this moment, Su Ruolan and her team had arrived at the base of the Inpatient Department. 0

"You'll move in two minutes," Su Ruolan instructed Liu Dan and the others as they synchronized their timing and dispersed. With a swift motion, Su Ruolan slipped into the first-floor lobby and quietly ascended the stairs. Liu Dan and the others waited outside the building, watching Su Ruolan's figure disappear while silently counting down. 0

Su Ruolan glanced up at the winding staircase, raised her hand, and a section of Wood Vine began to grow slowly. It quickly wrapped around the staircase at the tenth floor. She looped it around her hand, tied a live knot, and with a leap, she ascended to the second floor. Pushing off with her feet, she used the momentum of the Wood Vine to swing up another level. Back and forth, she soon reached the Tenth Floor. 0

"What was that sound?" Suddenly, a soldier pushed open the stairwell door and walked quickly toward the staircase. He glanced down into the dimness below, where no one was visible. Shaking his head, he murmured softly, "Strange, I clearly heard something. How come there's no one here? Am I just imagining things out of nerves?" He continued walking into the door. 0

Beneath him, Su Ruolan pressed tightly against the wall of the staircase. A Wood Vine securely bound her; one end was tied to the window ledge while the other was anchored at the bottom of the stair railing by his feet, dark green to the point of being nearly invisible. 0

Hearing the door close, Su Ruolan freed herself from the Wood Vine's grip. With a quick roll, she knelt on the stairs. Just as she stood up, there was a creak from the door as the soldier who had just passed held his gun aimed at Su Ruolan with a sinister smile on his face. "You thought you could fool me? I'm a Sound System Ability user. Prepare to die." 0
