Su Ruolan was eager to enter the space, but she knew she couldn't avoid everything. It would be better to return with the lovesick girl first, assess the situation, and then make plans.
Milu proudly filled her car with gasoline and knocked out Li Yuxuan and the others to take them away.
Su Ruolan pretended to faint and was carried onto Milu's car. A boy fawned over Milu, saying, "Lulu, you're amazing! You always win and get so many good things. Can you share a bit more with me when we get back? You know I haven't eaten well this month, and my complexion is terrible."
It was hard to imagine a rough-looking boy acting so coyly towards a girl, his expression completely natural.
Another boy driving, who had a somewhat delicate beauty, scoffed at this. "Peng Bo, every time we share things, don't you always take the best? Why don't we just give everything to you?"
"Dragon Jade, stop being jealous of me. You have plenty too. Lulu likes me and is willing to share, so what's the problem?" The rough-looking boy pouted.
Su Ruolan found it hard to listen, but Milu seemed to enjoy it. She reached out and touched Peng Bo's solid muscles on his chest. "Alright, I’ll spoil both of you the most. This time when we get back, you two can pick first, and the rest will go to them. Is that okay?! But those two newcomers are not bad; leave a couple of good things for them."
Hearing Milu speak so fondly of Li Yuxuan and Kong Xiang, Peng Bo insisted, "Lulu, don’t forget about me just because you have new people around. I’m the most loyal to you." With that, he leaned in for a kiss from Milu.
Milu took the initiative and held Peng Bo's face, passionately kissing his red lips. If one only looked at their appearances—handsome boy and beautiful girl—it was quite a sight.
Dragon Jade turned his gaze away with a cold expression, looking out the window as he ignored their passionate kissing and touching. His fingers gripping the steering wheel were tinged with a hint of green.
Until they reached their destination, no one in the car spoke again. Milu and Peng Bo were nearly caught up in their own world; when they parked, their faces were flushed and their eyes dazed. It took them a while to calm down.
Estimating by travel time, they weren't far from the service area but were relatively hidden. Milu removed the Black Gold Whip and replaced it with other ropes to tightly bind Su Ruolan. Faced with several guns pointed at her forehead, Su Ruolan decided to endure for now and observe the situation. They dragged her into a low house, locked the door behind them, and left. Feeling eyes on her, Su Ruolan opened her eyes. In the cramped room were three other girls bound as well, aged between 5 and 18 years old—each pale and emaciated with sunken cheeks—expressions of fear, indifference, numbness, and resentment flickering across their faces.
"Milu! Dragon Jade! You won't die well! If you have the guts, kill me now!" A woman in blue clothing with an oval face suddenly rushed to the door, banging on it while shouting loudly.
"Shut up! If it weren't for Dragon Jade protecting you, you'd be dead by now." The door was kicked open as Milu entered, surveying the girls.
"I've wanted to die for a long time; I'm going all out against you!" The Oval-Faced Girl suddenly sprang up from the ground and charged at Milu.
"Looking for death." Milu extended her hand; the Black Gold Whip swung down violently, knocking the Oval-Faced Girl to the ground and leaving a bright red mark on her back.
"Don't, Lulu, you promised me you wouldn't kill my sister," Dragon Jade said, rushing in and hesitating to help the Oval-Faced Girl, pleading with Milu.
"What sister? I don't have such a sister. If there's a next time, I'll send Lan Qin away, and I mean it," Milu replied, showing impatience toward Dragon Jade and warning her solemnly.
"Don't plead for me; I'm not your sister. If you have the ability, go avenge Yaya. She died so tragically. As her boyfriend, why aren't you with her? Why are you still alive?" Lan Qin glared at Dragon Jade with hatred.
Seeing Milu about to lose her temper again, Dragon Jade quickly pointed to a woman nearby and said to Milu, "Aren't you here to choose someone? How about this one? I'll help you take her out." She pulled the woman along while urging Milu to leave.
The chosen woman looked extremely terrified, desperately shouting, "I don't want to! No, please don't choose me!" She was dragged out while crying. Milu was coaxed by Dragon Jade as they left the room together.
The door was locked again. The room fell into darkness once more.
"How shameless! Using this trick every time. If you're really going to die, why don't you just go?" Another girl in green clothes angrily remarked, aside from Lan Qin.
Lan Qin ignored her ramblings and struggled to get up, moving to the other side of the room.
"With Yue gone, who can survive? These people are truly devils. Boohoo, I'm next; I don't want to die!" The girl in green was driven nearly mad by the impending threat of death.
Suddenly, the door burst open as Peng Bo walked in. He glanced at the three of them and stepped forward to grab the girl in green's hand, muttering, "How annoying; I have to come do this myself." He then knocked her unconscious and dragged her away as she cried out.
"Two taken today?" Lan Qin's expression turned grave and stunned.
"What happened here?" Su Ruolan asked, looking at her with clear eyes that didn't seem deceitful.
"Since we're all not long for this world, I'll tell you," Lan Qin sighed when she saw that Su Ruolan didn't seem malicious. "To be honest, I don't know the specifics either. After the apocalypse, my sisters and I went with Dragon Jade to find his family. Who knew we would run into robbers here? This shameless woman Milu took a liking to Dragon Jade, killed my sister, and brought me here. This place originally held many women; later they took three and left with one. I overheard the guards saying they were sent to some base for live dissections. So everyone is desperate not to be taken away; how can we face our parents if we end up dismembered?"
"That's simply inhumane," Su Ruolan said angrily upon hearing this. This was bad; she was the only one sent into this room while Cheng Xi had no idea where he had been taken or if he was in danger. "How many subordinates does Milu have? What do you usually eat?"
"I don't know how many people there are. I've been locked up for a month; they give us a bowl of thin porridge every two days just to keep us alive," Lan Qin replied with a bitter smile.
"I can save you, but I need your help," Su Ruolan said sincerely as she looked into Lan Qin's eyes.
"You must be joking. If you had the ability, you wouldn't have been caught," Lan Qin said, shaking her head in disbelief. However, seeing Su Ruolan's serious expression, she couldn't help but become serious herself. "Are you really? Well then, since we're both facing a dead end, we might as well take a gamble. What do you need me to do?"
"Can you get in touch with Dragon Jade and have him come here? He's crucial to our plan," Su Ruolan replied calmly.
"I can't guarantee anything, but I'll give it a try," Lan Qin said, determination in her voice as she nodded.
After a while, Su Ruolan knocked frantically on the door and shouted, "Is anyone there? Please, someone come! Lan Qin is bleeding heavily; it looks like she might not make it!"
"What's all the noise about?" The door swung open to reveal an ordinary-looking man with a gun. He glanced at the large pool of blood beneath Lan Qin and noted her pale complexion; it was clear she was struggling to breathe.
"Please, you have to save her. Thank you!" Su Ruolan pleaded repeatedly.
"Fine, just wait," the armed man said reluctantly before stepping out.
Su Ruolan and Lan Qin anxiously waited. Su Ruolan was confident that Dragon Jade wouldn't ignore Lan Qin's plight; her only fear was that he might be held up by Milu and unable to come. Lan Qin, however, did not share Su Ruolan's certainty and felt increasingly uneasy; she had never experienced time dragging on so painfully.
After a while, the door burst open forcefully, and Dragon Jade appeared in a panic. When he saw the large stain of blood beneath Lan Qin, he was momentarily stunned. "Sister, what happened?" He rushed over to her side, ready to pick her up.
In a flash, Su Ruolan sprang into action, pressing an icy dagger against Dragon Jade's neck. "Don't move. We need to talk."
