"How are you? Let me take a look," Su Ruolan said as she helped Qin Zhi Han to his seat, wanting to check his injuries.
"I'm fine, just a minor sprain," Qin Zhi Han replied, not wanting Su Ruolan to examine his injury, gently refusing her.
"Since you're fine, what's the harm in taking a look?" Su Ruolan insisted, preparing to lift his pant leg.
With no other choice, Qin Zhi Han rolled up his pant leg, revealing an ankle swollen like an egg.
"Wow, it's this bad and you say you're fine?" Su Ruolan couldn't help but scold him.
Qin Zhi Han lowered his head, remaining silent.
Su Ruolan placed her hand on Qin Zhi Han's ankle, activating her healing ability. She began to work on his meridians, dissipating the excess bruising. After a few circles of movement, Qin Zhi Han's ankle gradually returned to its normal state.
As her cool hand touched his skin, Qin Zhi Han felt a stir within him. Su Ruolan's hand was delicate and warm; this was the first time he had received such active concern from her. He felt deeply moved, perhaps unknowingly, their distance had once again closed.
"Thank you." When Su Ruolan withdrew her hand, the warmth on his ankle vanished suddenly. Qin Zhi Han felt a bit lost but maintained a calm facade.
The atmosphere in the room suddenly became a bit tense. Su Ruolan realized how close she was to Qin Zhi Han and suddenly didn't know what to say. She stammered slightly, "You're fine now, so I'll just step out."
"Yeah, okay." Qin Zhi Han actually wanted to stay with Su Ruolan a bit longer; even if they didn't talk, just being together made him happy. However, he knew that it wasn't possible. His feelings for her were one-sided; after all, she had a husband and he couldn't put her in a difficult position. So he suppressed the pain in his heart and smiled as he said, "I'll rest for a bit and I'll be fine."
At that moment, Bai Zhen suddenly helped someone in, "Captain, Captain, it's bad! Brother Fengshan is back, the Yan Tribe is in great trouble."
Qin Zhi Han looked over and saw Fengshan badly injured and in a disheveled state.
Following him were Ma Commander, Zhang Deputy Commander, and others.
"What happened?" Qin Zhi Han couldn't help but ask.
Fengshan dropped to his knees with a thud, struggling to suppress his grief and anger as he said to Qin Zhi Han, "Captain Qin, please save our Yan Tribe. After you left, Mi Commander from G Base led a team into our base. She demanded we disclose the whereabouts of the Huaxia Army and has placed the clan leader and Elder under house arrest. When we refused to reveal any information, they mercilessly slaughtered our people—over half of us are dead or wounded. Now they are even setting fire to the city. The clan leader has ordered us to evacuate the elderly, women, and children while he chooses to stand with our ancestral legacy. Please, you must go save him."
"What? They've gone mad! This is self-destruction!" Ma Commander exclaimed in anger. "This government is doomed to ruin."
"Yes, they are framing us as the Huaxia Army, labeling us with crimes to justify their massacre of our city," All Men said with tears barely held back. Fengshan was filled with sorrow and rage; after sending Qin Zhi Han and the others out of the mountains, he returned to find the streets littered with corpses and smoke rising everywhere. He could hardly believe his eyes—just days ago, this had been a place full of hope and peace.
When he arrived at the secret passage of his tribe, he found very few tribesmen remaining. The clan leader and Elder entrusted him with their hopes, urging him to ensure survival for the tribe and seek vengeance for them while controlling his anger.
Fengshan sorrowfully agreed. He brought along 40 children and 15 young women from the tribe back to the cliff's edge. Fortunately, the ropes they had used earlier were still there, and thankfully Cloud Poison had not appeared; they managed to catch up.
"This matter arose because of us; we have a responsibility to address it," Qin Zhi Han felt deeply guilty upon hearing Fengshan's heart-wrenching plea. He lifted Fengshan up with both hands and said, "I will go back with you right now to save the clan leader."
