"Sister-in-law?!" Su Ruolan felt as if she had been struck by lightning. She stared at the lively girl before her, who was barely older than a child, not much different in age from herself in her past life. How could this relationship not withstand the test of time?
All her joy evaporated, and Su Ruolan felt an icy chill enveloping her, as if she had fallen into a frozen abyss, every drop of her blood nearly turning to ice. "When did you two get together?" Su Ruolan managed to ask, each word painstakingly forced out as she struggled to control her emotions.
Qi Runzhou felt an inexplicable sense of guilt under the intense gaze of the strange girl. This was a man who had faced countless dangers without flinching, a Senior General of the Huaxia Army who never backed down from gunfire or battle. Yet, standing before a girl barely in her twenties, he felt an oppressive weight in his heart that left him momentarily speechless.
"Hello, I’ve been with Runzhou since two years into the apocalypse," the lively girl said, sensing the strange atmosphere between Su Ruolan and Qi Runzhou. She subtly moved closer to Qi Runzhou, blocking Su Ruolan's direct line of sight to him and facing Su Ruolan with a warm smile.
"What month did you get together?" Su Ruolan's eyes turned red upon hearing that they had been together for two years during the apocalypse. It was perfect—she had died in January of that same year. Had they started their relationship before or after her death?
Qi Runzhou noticed the girl's strange expression and felt an increasing discomfort within himself, a dull ache forming in his heart as he pressed his hand against his chest.
"Who are you? This has nothing to do with you, does it, Commander Qi?" The lively girl sensed Qi Runzhou's discomfort and grew anxious, unable to hold back as she coldly rebuked Su Ruolan.
"Ruo Lan, what's wrong?" Qin Zhi Han asked with concern upon noticing Su Ruolan's distress.
Su Ruolan shook off Qin Zhi Han's concerned hand, pushed aside the lively girl, and stepped in front of Qi Runzhou, staring intently at him. "Tell me, when did you two get together?"
Everyone present was taken aback by Su Ruolan's demeanor. The lively girl was about to retaliate when Qi Runzhou's aide stepped forward to support her but was swiftly pushed aside by Su Ruolan. Qin Zhi Han saw this and was about to intervene on Su Ruolan's behalf when he realized she had already acted fiercely. A Wood Vine shot out from her hand, binding him tightly.
From Su Ruolan as the center, countless Wood Vines spread out from beneath her feet like ferocious serpents flicking their tongues, swaying menacingly and preventing anyone from approaching.
Qi Runzhou, the Captain of the Huaxia Corps, was indeed impressive. Even though he initially experienced a strange psychological reaction when facing Su Ruolan, he quickly regained his composure upon seeing her reveal her Ability. He spoke in a deep voice, "Miss, if you are from my hometown, then what you just asked is a personal matter, and I can choose not to answer. However, if you are the Vice Captain of the Huaxia Four Corps, then we are colleagues, and your attitude seems a bit excessive. Please calm down; let’s talk this through."
"Yes, Commander Su, let's handle this properly," Ma Commander and Zhang Commander were both stunned and hurriedly advised.
"Ruo Lan, what's wrong with you? Let go of Qi Commander right now; we need to discuss this calmly," Qin Wujiao had never seen Su Ruolan like this and was equally perplexed by the situation.
Suddenly, several soldiers rushed over, forming a large circle around Su Ruolan and Qi Runzhou. They raised their weapons, aiming at Su Ruolan's head and heart.
