To everyone's surprise, Wu Wan'er turned out to be a living map. While Wang Chao felt delighted, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for Wu Wan'er. After all, how lonely and bored must one be to have studied most of the city maps of Huaxia? Shaking his head, he buried such thoughts deep within. With Wu Wan'er as their living map, finding the airport in Jing City became much easier.
The journey itself is not worth elaborating on; after two weeks of flying, they finally arrived at Jing City.
Jing City, located in central China, was known for its coal production. Before the development of new energy sources, it supplied coal to the north. However, with the shift in energy structure, Jing City's status as an energy hub had diminished, and it had become relatively obscure. Nevertheless, the city still held rich coal reserves underground. This was the extent of Wang Chao's knowledge about the city.
Lost in thought, the plane circled above Jing City Airport. Looking down, they noticed that due to the airport's closed runway design, there were almost no zombies on it. However, several planes were scattered haphazardly across the runway, many of which had become wrecks. It seemed that these planes had encountered a zombie crisis shortly after takeoff; it was unclear whether any zombies remained inside them.
To be safe, Shen Zhiying decided to land the helicopter at a distance. To guard against any potential danger, she stayed with Yiyi and Yang Mengying in the helicopter while Wang Chao, Shen Zhitao, and Tang Feng formed a squad to search for aviation fuel inside the airport. As they walked past the wreckage of the planes, they peered through the windows and saw chaos inside—evidence of fire damage was clear, and numerous bodies lay strewn about. It appeared that when these planes crashed, a fire had consumed everything inside, leaving no survivors among either humans or zombies.
The horrifying scene sent chills down their spines. Wang Chao sighed and continued deeper into the airport. They did not encounter any large warehouses along the way; it seemed this place was not designed for large cargo shipments. If that were true, smaller warehouses were likely near the terminal. However, this also meant that there would probably be a significant number of zombies inside the terminal—perhaps even infesting the entire building.
While ordinary zombies posed little danger to the three of them individually, facing a large number could become quite troublesome. Fortunately, they encountered no zombies on their way and soon reached the vicinity of the terminal. Just from a distance, they could see a massive horde of zombies filling the entire hall; even on the second and third floors, zombies were packed tightly.
"The number of zombies is overwhelming," Wang Chao frowned and said seriously. "With just the three of us, it's impossible to eliminate all those zombies and safely enter the terminal—not to mention finding aviation fuel."
Both nodded in agreement.
After pondering for a moment, Wang Chao proposed a plan: "I have an idea that requires you both to do some running around! Here’s what we’ll do: I’ll climb up to the rooftop from the outer wall of the terminal. Once I’m up there, you two will enter from the front and draw those zombies away from the hall. As for the zombies on the second and third floors, leave them to me. What do you think?"
Shen Zhiying replied, "Alright. Once you’re up top, we’ll spring into action."
Wang Chao nodded and dashed toward the terminal. With one powerful kick against the wall, he leaped up five or six meters high. Then he sprinted along the wall for a few steps before reaching the edge of the rooftop. With a flip, he landed on top and signaled an OK gesture to Shen Zhiying below. She nodded and drew two Desert Eagles from her waist. Aiming at the glass facade of the terminal's front entrance, she pulled the trigger. The already shattered glass exploded outward with a loud crash that attracted all of the zombies' attention.
They all turned around to look at the two living people outside the Terminal. In an instant, they rushed out one after another. Within a few seconds, all the Zombies in the hall had vanished, even those on the second and third floors scrambled desperately to escape. Many Zombies charged straight through the broken glass, tumbling outside the Terminal. Yet, even in such a state, they struggled to get back up and continued to chase after Shen Zhiying and Tang Feng in the distance.
Wang Chao, hanging from the railing on the top floor, couldn't help but click his tongue at the scene unfolding before him.
Once the Zombies had run far away, Wang Chao flipped over to the third floor. There were still quite a few Zombies there, but they were no match for him. With a casual wave of his hand, the Bone Knife appeared and disappeared again, and several Zombie heads fell to the ground in an instant. The speed was so quick that if one didn't observe closely, it would be impossible to tell how Wang Chao had killed those Zombies.
"I'm getting more skilled at this," Wang Chao thought to himself.
As he carefully observed inside the Terminal, he noticed a sign in a corner of the hall that read "Warehouse Restricted Area - No Entry for Unauthorized Personnel." Wang Chao's heart leaped with joy. He jumped down from the third floor and approached the door. Pushing against it revealed that it was locked. With a swift motion of his hand, he sliced through the door, splitting it in half. Inside was a vast space filled with various shelves stacked with packages. Due to obstructions, Wang Chao couldn't see very far ahead and could only advance slowly among the shelves.
He didn't see any barrels marked with fuel symbols or Containers as he continued forward. Suddenly, a noise came from deep within the shelves, startling Wang Chao. He recalled that he had checked this door; it was completely sealed and intact—there shouldn't be anyone inside. Could someone have been trapped in there before the Zombie crisis erupted? As he pondered this, he moved deeper inside.
Finally reaching the innermost part of the area, Wang Chao looked toward where the sound had come from and saw a humanoid creature crouched on the ground. In front of it were barrels of aviation fuel, and it seemed to be consuming them. Wang Chao was taken aback; as he stored some of this fuel into his Spatial Ring, his Bone Knife was already pressed against the creature's neck as he pulled it closer.
The creature turned around and startled Wang Chao—it clearly had no facial features. In the center of its face was a mouth resembling that of a rabbit; no, even a rabbit's mouth only has two parts, while this monster's mouth had six petals. It seemed to sense Wang Chao's presence as its Six-Petal Mouth opened wide, revealing sharp teeth within.
