Wang Chao was deep in thought about how to rescue Da Qiang and the girl on the iron chain. An hour earlier, the One-Eyed Dragon had finished lunch at the villa and was on his routine patrol of the Civilian Area. He was responsible for uncovering any hidden weapons, illicit Crystals, or beautiful women who had yet to be discovered. However, today’s routine included an additional task: investigating last night’s riot.
Last night, taking advantage of the darkness, Wang Chao had made arrangements with Liu Jie and learned of Xiao Wei's plan early this morning. Meanwhile, Old Hao had summoned the One-Eyed Dragon to his room and said, “I tell you, Seven Brothers, there’s something off about Wang Chao. Tomorrow, you should take a stroll around the Civilian Area and check out the details of last night’s riot.”
The One-Eyed Dragon knew that Old Hao was called Smiling Tiger for a reason; he was one of the smartest in the Safe Zone, otherwise Commander Yu wouldn’t have valued him so highly. The One-Eyed Dragon looked down on Wang Chao, believing his arrival overshadowed him. He agreed to Old Hao's request. So this afternoon, he drove to the Civilian Area. Along the way, aside from Commander Yu's loyal followers, everyone else saw him and quickly avoided him.
A saying circulated in the Safe Zone: “Better to fight a tiger for three days than to face the One-Eyed Dragon.” This illustrated how feared he was among the people; ruthless was his reputation. As soon as he got out of the car, he spotted someone running towards him. The One-Eyed Dragon frowned as two soldiers immediately raised their rifles. The incident involving a human bomb in the Safe Zone still haunted him.
“Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!” The man saw the soldiers raising their guns and immediately dropped to his knees, shouting, “Commander, I have information! I have a secret.” His voice carried clearly due to their proximity to the Safe Zone. Old Gu and Wu Lu were standing under a wooden hut nearby, their eyes filled with malice as they watched. Wu Lu remarked, “This Xu Laomao is nothing but a dog! So damn lowly.”
Old Gu shook his head slightly but said nothing.
The One-Eyed Dragon was proud and vain; on one hand, he despised such people. He waved his hand dismissively and ignored Xu Laomao, turning to leave. However, Xu Laomao shouted again in desperation, “I have news about Wang Chao! He’s here to assassinate Commander Yu! You have to believe me!”
The One-Eyed Dragon halted mid-step and turned back to look at Xu Laomao kneeling in the distance. Old Gu and Wu Lu under the hut were also stunned; they didn’t know how this information had leaked out. After analyzing last night’s events, Wu Lu—who had previously held strong opinions against Wang Chao—finally understood Wang Chao's intentions and felt guilty for almost leaking information himself. He hadn’t expected Xu Laomao to know about it and shout it out so brazenly.
“Damn it.” Even Old Gu, usually calm, couldn’t help but curse at this moment. He whispered, “With so many people around last night, perhaps our conversation was overheard unintentionally. If that’s the case, we’re both guilty in the Safe Zone. You should notify the other brothers; a battle will break out soon. I’ll find Liu Jie; he said that within three days Wang Chao would definitely act. But right now, before Wang Chao can make a move, Commander Yu will likely act against him first…”
Wu Lu respected Old Gu for his composure and immediately took action without hesitation upon hearing his words.
The One-Eyed Dragon paused as Xu Laomao realized he had caught their attention and scrambled over to him. The One-Eyed Dragon's expression darkened; since Wang Chao arrived in the Safe Zone, he had first offered great gifts and then quelled a riot—all while catching Commander Yu’s eye as if wanting a share of power for himself. His strength was not weak either; Commander Yu seemed inclined to win him over since he even took Wang Chao to see a show.
However, if Wang Chao's motives were not pure and he sought to replace him, that was something the One-Eyed Dragon could never tolerate.
"Do you have any evidence to back that up?" the One-Eyed Dragon said, gripping Xu Laomao by the collar.
Xu Laomao nodded vigorously and replied earnestly, "After the riot last night, I intended to, well, just grab something on the way. But inadvertently, I overheard a conversation between two people. It was pitch dark, so I couldn't see their faces clearly, but I heard their dialogue perfectly. They mentioned that Wang Chao had united quite a few people below him to overthrow Commander Yu's rule. However, they decided not to act this time due to insufficient preparation."
The One-Eyed Dragon's expression changed, but he maintained his composure and asked, "It's easy to talk, but do you have any proof? Otherwise, I'll make sure to tear you apart!"
As soon as the One-Eyed Dragon finished speaking, Xu Laomao began to bow repeatedly. "Why would I lie to you? What do I gain by risking my life to deceive you? If you don't believe me, just go check on those people in the Civilian Area. You were too quick; you didn't see that there were no dead bodies on the ground. Even that Chubby Kid is still at home, bouncing around. He didn't even go hard on them. To put it plainly, it's all for gaining support after replacing Commander Yu."
"Think about it; if that time comes, you'll be working under him!" Xu Laomao added with embellishment. "Really, every word I'm saying is true. If you don't believe me, go investigate."
The One-Eyed Dragon nodded and said, "I'll look into it. If what you say is true, you'll be rewarded handsomely. But if you dare to deceive me, you know what the consequences will be." With that, he signaled one of his subordinates to keep an eye on Xu Laomao while he took another person and headed deeper into the Civilian Area.
Meanwhile,
In the Beast Arena,
Da Qiang had tightly wrapped the two tongues of the Three-Headed Zombie Dog around his arm. The barbs on them tore at his skin, making it hard to tell whether it was the Zombie Dog's blood or Da Qiang's own blood dripping down onto the ground, forming a large pool of crimson. Da Qiang's fist, as big as a sandbag, smashed down onto the dog's head with immense force; it seemed that this Zombie Dog wouldn't survive.
"Release Mourning Lion!" Old Hao said expressionlessly to one of his subordinates. "Three of them."
One Mourning Lion could take down six or seven Zombie Dogs; three would be even more dangerous for Da Qiang!
"The Seven Brothers are here," Old Hao's voice rang out again.
