The sound of thunder roared in Wang Chao's ears, like a series of lightning strikes. With two Bone Knives in hand, he spun them around, creating a whirlwind around the two combatants. In just a few seconds, they had exchanged over a dozen blows. Wang Chao wondered how much longer Commander Yu could hold on, but he knew he couldn't last much longer himself.
Suddenly, Commander Yu changed his attack pattern. Wang Chao felt a shift in his heart; he realized that if this stalemate continued, he would be the first to fall. With this thought, Wang Chao understood that he had to fight with everything he had, risking it all for a chance to turn the tide. He completely abandoned his defense, slashing and stabbing with both Bone Knives—one coming down from above and the other aimed directly at Commander Yu's face.
The Bone Knives whistled through the air. Seeing Wang Chao's desperate strike, Commander Yu recognized it as a last-ditch effort. However, the speed of Wang Chao's attacks was too fast and covered a wide area. With a flash of determination in his eyes, Commander Yu gritted his teeth and stomped his foot, raising his left hand to block Wang Chao's thrust and slash with one hand while his right fist flew toward Wang Chao's head.
Both fighters launched their thunderous attacks simultaneously, relying on their mental fortitude. The first to block would find themselves at a disadvantage. It seemed like an eternity, but it all happened in the blink of an eye. Since Wang Chao had the initiative, both of his strikes landed on Commander Yu's left arm! With two loud clangs, Wang Chao realized that his Bone Knives had struck against Commander Yu's bone! His hand jolted back momentarily but continued downward; even if he couldn't kill Commander Yu, he aimed to cripple that arm.
Commander Yu managed to withstand the blow with sheer force, but his body involuntarily sank as his punch grazed Wang Chao's neck and slammed into his shoulder. Since Wang Chao had abandoned all defense, the punch landed solidly on him. With a crack, Wang Chao was sent flying to the ground, landing heavily. He quickly tried to move his left arm but found it completely numb.
Looking at Commander Yu now, blood poured from his right arm. Although Wang Chao hadn't severed Commander Yu's arm completely, the thrust and slash had penetrated deep into flesh and bone, severing tendons. If there hadn't been some skin still attached, that arm would have fallen off entirely. The pain made Commander Yu grit his teeth.
"Seeking your own death!" Commander Yu spat.
At that moment, Wang Chao stood up again, but then Commander Yu did something that left him dumbfounded. After uttering those words, Commander Yu grabbed his left hand with his right and yanked hard, tearing it off completely. Then he shockingly bit down on it! The scene was grotesque and bloody; blood gushed from the severed limb while pieces of flesh hung from his mouth.
"Is he going insane?" Wang Chao thought to himself. Compared to Commander Yu’s horror, Wang Chao’s injuries were internal; although after evolution humans healed rapidly—missing limbs or severe internal injuries could heal in ten days or so—he simply couldn't understand why Commander Yu would do something so drastic; after all, humans weren't lizards!
Before Wang Chao could process this further, Commander Yu began to tremble violently; even the fat on his body shook along with him. Just as Wang Chao stood there in shock, suddenly Commander Yu's eyes dimmed. As the fat quivered, pieces of Commander Yu’s body began to peel away. Wang Chao watched in disbelief as more of Commander Yu’s flesh fell away until another version of him stepped out from what appeared to be the "shell" of Commander Yu!
"This isn't insanity; this is pure madness!" Wang Chao stared wide-eyed at this bizarre transformation and momentarily forgot to advance until the leaner version of Commander Yu fully emerged before him. This new version was muscular and devoid of any excess fat; though his features were intact, his skin appeared fresh and unnaturally pale—terrifyingly so.
Standing before Wang Chao completely naked and exposed.
In Commander Yu's eyes, a golden light radiated! Damn it, Commander Yu had leveled up! What did this even mean? Was it like a butterfly, having gained enlightenment? Lost in thought, Commander Yu seemed to stand still, yet he mysteriously appeared right in front of Wang Chao. Instinctively, Wang Chao raised his shield, but Commander Yu's powerful punch shattered the shield with ease—something that had never happened before!
The shield transformed back into his arm as it broke apart, leaving Wang Chao's arms incapacitated! Without hesitation, Commander Yu threw another punch. Wang Chao could see the trajectory of the fist clearly, but his body couldn't react fast enough to his brain's command to evade; Commander Yu's punch was simply too swift!
At that moment, a knife appeared between the two—a knife that was not ordinary but a Tang Dao!
Wang Chao's first reaction was relief; his teammates had finally arrived! Indeed, they were here!
There was no time for further words as the fist struck the blade of the Tang Dao. Fresh blood erupted from Commander Yu's newly formed flesh, yet the Tang Dao snapped in half! This weapon was superior in both material and craftsmanship compared to Wang Chao's Black Gold Dagger. Wang Chao had always wanted such a divine weapon, but who would have thought that such a powerful artifact would be broken by Commander Yu's bare fist?
But that wasn't all; the immense force sent both Tang Feng and Wang Chao flying backward. Startled, Tang Feng realized this must be Commander Yu. If he hadn't intervened with the knife between them, that punch alone could have shattered him to pieces. Looking into Commander Yu's eyes, he noticed they had reached the level of Golden Lower Level. Wasn't Commander Yu supposed to be at the Silver Upper Tier? Had he broken through again?
As they fell, Wang Chao caught a glimpse of his teammates arriving—except for Yiyi, everyone else was there. Shen Zhitao was rushing toward them.
Without hesitation, Wang Chao shouted, "We need to take care of those two first! Otherwise, your presence here is pointless. We must end this quickly; Tang Feng and I can't hold out much longer against this Commander Yu. It has to be all of us from the squad working together!"
