Holding the Demon Blade, Wang Chao could still feel the resentment within the blade, but it no longer seemed directed at him. He let out a sigh of relief and examined the Demon Blade closely. When he had seen it on the wall, he felt one way about it, but now that it was in his hands, it felt entirely different. He stroked it from top to bottom, as if caressing a woman's delicate hand.
Looking at the coiled blood-red dragon, he noticed that while it had been blood-red before, a small section of its tail had turned black for some unknown reason. Wang Chao didn't understand why this was happening. However, he had witnessed his own blood being sprayed onto the dragon's eye, seemingly absorbed by it. After that, the tail began to darken. Tang Feng said, "I didn't expect you to tame this Ancient Blade after all."
Wang Chao nodded with a smile and replied, "It's fate. The three of them fell silent as Wang Chao and Tang Feng reveled in their newfound weapons. Aside from having to go through that strange mucus again on their way back and switch vehicles once more, there wasn't much else to discuss. When they returned to the Safe Zone, everyone was surprised to see Wang Chao and Tang Feng's new weapons. Especially Wang Chao's Panlong Blade—it was simply stunning. Even Xiao Wei couldn't resist wanting to touch it but was promptly stopped by Wang Chao.
Wang Chao recounted the origins of the Demon Blade in detail, including what had happened when he first encountered it. Only then did everyone give up on their desire to touch the Panlong Blade. Seeing that the three had returned safely eased everyone's worries, and they all returned to their posts. Only Xiao Wei stayed behind because Wang Chao had something to discuss with her. The two whispered in the room for a full two hours before emerging, leaving everyone curious about what they had talked about.
With the Panlong Blade slung over his shoulder, Wang Chao happily went to find Yang Mengying. However, she wasn't in her room and her whereabouts were unknown. Just as he was about to search around, he heard loud banging sounds outside the Safe Zone—someone seemed to be fighting. Suddenly, fireworks exploded in the sky. Realizing something was wrong, Wang Chao exclaimed; these fireworks were given to the school team members—one for each person—and modified by Shen Zhiying so they didn't need ignition; just pulling a string would send them flying into the air. It was like giving each person five hundred Crystals just for signaling in emergencies.
However, while Crystals were suitable for nighttime use, these fireworks could be seen clearly even during the day from a distance. Whistling loudly, Wang Chao dashed toward where the fireworks were launched. At that moment, a white shadow flashed past him; he jumped forward and landed directly on top of it—it was none other than Little Wolf racing toward him. With a gesture from Wang Chao, Little Wolf understood and sped off toward the fireworks.
Before they could even open the main gate, Little Wolf leaped onto the wall and dashed along it for several steps before vaulting over a wall more than ten meters high. Wang Chao held tightly onto Little Wolf's arm without feeling any risk of falling as they exited the Safe Zone. In the distance ahead, he could make out three figures that seemed familiar as they got closer.
Standing anxiously to the side was none other than Yang Mengying. The other two individuals present were Li Mao and, surprisingly, a subordinate of Huangfu Yan, the White-Clad Man. Upon seeing this, Wang Chao didn't wait any longer; he swiftly drew the Panlong Blade from his back, adopting an aggressive stance. The White-Clad Swordsman spotted Wang Chao charging toward him from a distance.
The White-Clad Swordsman seemed to realize he was no match for Wang Chao. With a loud shout, he kicked Li Mao away and turned to flee. Wang Chao intended to pursue him further but noticed that Li Mao had already coughed up blood. He quickly ordered Little Wolf to stop, sheathing the Panlong Blade again before rushing to help Li Mao up. "Are you okay?" he asked. Li Mao shook his head and managed a faint smile, saying, "I'm fine. You should check on Sister Mengying."
Wang Chao helped Li Mao onto Little Wolf's back and instructed, "Take him back first and find Wu Wan'er..." He knew that Wu Wan'er had good medical skills. Just as he finished speaking, Little Wolf let out a couple of howls, seemingly reluctant to carry Li Mao. Wang Chao shot Little Wolf a glare and patted its side, prompting Little Wolf to begrudgingly take Li Mao away.
Watching Little Wolf's retreating figure, Wang Chao furrowed his brow. He turned around and grasped Yang Mengying's hand, asking, "What are you doing here?" Yang Mengying looked at him in confusion and replied, "Didn't you call me here? But when I arrived, I found you weren't here. After waiting for a while, I encountered that White-Clad Swordsman."
With lingering fear in her voice, Yang Mengying continued, "As soon as he approached, he tried to take me away. I was terrified and wanted to set off fireworks, but the White-Clad Swordsman grabbed my arm. Just when I thought it was over for me, that guy named Li Mao showed up and confronted the White-Clad Swordsman directly. That gave me the chance to set off the fireworks! You know what happened next!"
"But I didn't call for you!" Wang Chao exclaimed. Meanwhile, he couldn't shake the thought of how Li Mao had appeared here again—was it really just a coincidence?
Yang Mengying looked at Wang Chao with confusion and said, "It was Liu Jie; Brother Liu told me about it. Isn't he the chief instructor of the Safe Zone? I thought his words wouldn't deceive me!"
