If the front gate was like this, then the situation at the side was no better. Wang Chao felt a sense of dread in his heart. So many Zombies, even if they were just ordinary ones, could easily push down the concrete walls of the Safe Zone. Not to mention there were quite a few Advanced Zombies among them, like the Three-Headed Zombie Dog. Even a wall ten meters high could be scaled with just a few leaps! And then there was the immensely powerful Giant Zombie Monster, towering at seven or eight meters; just swinging its fists could create deep craters in the walls of the Safe Zone! 0

"Damn it, damn it all," Wang Chao cursed inwardly. However, he couldn't show this side of himself. Having risen from being a penniless Loser to this point, he had gradually forgotten his true self, donning various masks. Perhaps only among his team could he reveal his true face without restraint, but he willingly wore this mask. There’s a saying: with great power comes great responsibility. Wang Chao was no longer that orphan from the orphanage. 0

"Gather quickly!" Wang Chao shouted down below. At that moment, Liu Jie had already rushed over with his team. Wang Chao jumped down from the lookout post and urgently asked, "Is everyone assembled?" 0

Liu Jie saluted Wang Chao and replied, "All personnel are assembled. The regular Guard consists of one hundred thirty-two members, and the reserve team has two hundred twenty members, all accounted for. Among them, two hundred twenty are following Commander Tang Feng to set up defenses at the side gate!" 0

"What about weapons and equipment?" Wang Chao asked quickly. 0

Liu Jie replied firmly, "All weapons and ammunition have been distributed to each person. Firearms and ammunition are complete and have been allocated according to the highest danger levels!" 0

"Good!" Wang Chao exclaimed. "This is urgent; I won't say much more. Don't forget your oath since the day you joined the Guard—who you are meant to protect! Your goal now is to fulfill that oath! Now, hand over all grenades to the odd-numbered Guard units, and those who receive grenades follow me! The rest will follow Liu Jie’s orders and set up defenses within the Safe Zone! Move quickly!" 0

"Yes!" A thunderous response echoed through the air. 0

Wang Chao led a hundred men, swiftly forming two lines as they charged forward from the front. Wang Chao shouted, "Liu Jie is the best scout; those he trains will surely be excellent scouts too. Our mission now is to lay a Minefield ahead of us and deplete most of the Zombies before they arrive. Time is life; every step we take makes the Safe Zone a bit safer—charge with me!" 0

At breakneck speed, Wang Chao led these Guards forward as if possessed by madness. They ran for a full twenty minutes, sweat covering everyone’s heads and bodies, yet not a single person fell behind. "Lay mines!" Wang Chao commanded. "No need for camouflage; ordinary Zombies lack intelligence—they will trigger these grenades!" 0

"Understood!" Liu Jie proved himself as an exceptional scout; his team moved swiftly and accurately. In such high-pressure conditions, even a small mistake could lead to disastrous consequences. Through their keen eyes, they could see the approaching tide of Zombies drawing nearer, their steps rhythmic as if marching in unison. 0

Some were already trembling uncontrollably; they felt as if they could reach out and touch the ankles of the Zombies! 0

"Steady now," Wang Chao urged. "They’re not moving as fast as we are: keep gaps wide! We don’t need to kill them outright; as long as they’re injured, the subsequent Zombie Tide will crush them into pulp! How much longer?" 0

"It should take about five more minutes!" several team members replied. Wang Chao nodded, but those Zombies were now less than a kilometer away! 0

"Let's go, retreat!" Wang Chao gritted his teeth and said. 0

Although the ordinary Zombies were not fast, the speed of the Advanced Zombies was not slower than that of a human running. A distance of a kilometer could be covered in just a few minutes. Even though they were surrounded by ordinary Zombies, there was no guarantee that the Advanced Zombies wouldn't break through the horde. With this thought in mind, Wang Chao issued the retreat order before the Minefield was fully set up. 0

Setting up the Minefield was done in rows, one after another. It was impossible to lay mines behind those who were still working on it at the front; doing so would endanger both enemies and allies. So, after the front row finished laying mines, there were still people in the back who had not completed their task while others began to run away. 0

After running a distance, Wang Chao turned around and found that the last few Guards were still laying mines. He stopped and shouted, "Stop crouching and run! Run!" 0

"But you said that if we lay more mines, the Safe Zone will be safer. If we lay fewer, it will be more dangerous. My wife is in the Safe Zone; protecting her is a man's basic duty!" one of them replied. Just as Wang Chao was about to respond, he saw hundreds of Zombie Dogs charging out from the horde, moving at incredible speed. In less than a minute, they would reach the minefield. 0

"Damn it!" Wang Chao cursed. "What good is protection when our lives are at stake? Run! Don't worry; my wife is in the Safe Zone too, and I won't let them break in!" After saying this, that person grinned and ran wildly backward. However, most of these people had been suppressed by Commander Yu, and their levels were mostly at Brass Mid-Tier; how could they outrun these mutated Zombie Dogs? 0

The Zombie Dogs surged forward at sprinting speeds, directly crossing over the minefield. Their speed was astonishing; by the time a wave of Zombie Dogs had rushed through, the landmines didn't even have time to react! Wang Chao cursed himself silently; if they encountered these Zombie Dogs before officially engaging in battle, he didn't know how many people would die! It was truly his negligence! 0

With this thought in mind, Wang Chao whistled, but this time Little Wolf did not appear before him. Wang Chao didn't pay much attention to it; he felt that with all the noise around, Little Wolf couldn't hear his whistle. But now he couldn't afford to think about that anymore. He drew his Panlong Blade and prepared to fight those Zombie Dogs. At that moment, he heard Liu Jie and others shouting: "Don't look back; we can handle them! Brothers, open fire!" 0

The sound of gunfire erupted densely. Wang Chao looked up and saw that the air seemed to be torn apart by bullet holes, twisting upward. 0
